  1. I bougth the same adapter cri-cri bought and I can confirm, that it works at Gen 2 speed. Now I would like to try to desolder it and put a cable in between. I want to move my mpcie slot to a position where it is easier to access. Any suggestions on wich cable to use?
  2. I don't think this one will work either. Hwtools writes on its page: Maximum speed of PCIe2.0 (5Gbps) is not guaranteed. In my opinion the problem will be the extra connection and the unshielded cable.
  3. @Tech Inferno Fan I tried it and still get code 12. Im starting to think maybe its a problem with win8. In the devicemanager my egpu is listet as PCI-Bus 2. Tech Inferno Fan edit>> mrbauer's problem was solved via PM.
  4. Thanks daver 160. This was the point i was missing. Now setup 1.x detects the egpu almost everytime. But not always. This works perfectly. The startup.bat you posted works for me and 10de:11c0 is exactly as listed in Setup 1.x. I altered call chainload mbr to call grub4dos mbr. It works both ways, but with the chainload one I get an errormessage. If I run the startup.bat and chainload to win, the dgpu is disabled, but I still get code 12. I think this is related to the pci compression. I tried several options. With some it works, but there is always the code 12. I hope you can help me out here. I got 8 gig of ram and even if I change it to 4 gig it doesnt work.
  5. I hope you, daver160 or Tech Inferno Fan could help me out here. I finally got all components for my egpu setup. My setup differs a bit from daver160s. I got the same laptop, but with the i7 2820qm and Windows 8, the PE4l adaptor, for Pci 2.0 support and a GTX 660 as egpu. I set it up today, but I couldnt get it to work. 1. Preparing the machine for eGPU this worked, after some trying. 2. Installing and setting up eGPU components it basically worked too, but if I boot up my notebook with the egpu powered up and plugged in. It doesn't start. I just got a black screen. It just works if I plug in the egpu in sleep mode. 3. Running Setup 1.x Didn't work at all. I had the same problem like daver160. It just freezes if I try to disable the dgpu. So I tried to switch out the startup.bat and then I did not now how to go on. My startup.bat now looks like this: Maybe daver160 you could provide a step by step guide how you did it. Thanks for your help.
  6. I think Im going to test one of this adapters. It would be great if they go on 2.0 speed. And it would be even possible to desolder the half slot and solder a cable in between. So that you have an extension or could place the slot at another place in your notebook.
  7. Hey. Great work. I have almost the same laptop and Im going to do a egpu setup with a gtx 660. But I dont understand exactly what would happen if I dont use setup 1.x. to disable the dgpu. Would it work at all? And is it maybe possible to disable the dgpu via bios?
  8. This wont work at 2.0 speed. As dicussed in this topic: http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/2958-pe4l-pm060a-mini-pcie-extender-2.html. I wanted to build somethin like that on my own. Im about to get started on my own egpu. I already ordered a pe4l 2.1 and a gtx 660. I have a dell Xps 15 l502, with a gt540m dgpu. As I understand it I definitly need setup 1.x to get it to work. But what would happen if I tried it without setup 1.x. Would it not work at all or would I just miss optimus?
  9. Hello, 1x is the best you can get with an EC2 Slot. So you best go with [email protected] and try to enable optimus, since you have a GTX 670. X2 and higher are only possible with more than one ECSlot or mpie slot or a combination of both. And I think they wont work at 2.0 speed.
  10. Hey, @Hunter20 I dont think these will work. And even if they work they will take a lot of space, just consider you need 18 or 19 pins. I peronally like the idea of cri-cri much more. In fact im thinking of trying something like this on my own.
