  1. They are still to low, take a look on my results. http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/2109-diy-egpu-experiences-%5Bversion-2-0%5D-155.html#post59070
  2. Are You going to try this mod on Your 2570p? Hm I was wondering if this @jacobsson and Your @Tech Inferno Fan mods are available in 8460p/8470p...
  3. It's great news! If its possible to make 2570p more quiet so I don't have any other doubt what I am going to looking for. I game very rarely, so when The Witcher III will come out, I'll buy some QM IvyBridge, so I am not afraid of lower rpms in stress time. For now, most of time (90%) I just browsing internet and watching movies on external screen. What level of firt treshold rpm you think I will gain after using this diode mode? Is this diode mod is also easily possible in 2560p? (I don't need RAID-0 and IB CPU).
  4. You are right, I'll wait for your depiction and after this I'll make the choice When You are going to post it here?
  5. Ok, I can't wait to see what have You done with this 2570p's heatsink Few days ago I sold 2630QM because I realized that there is nothing worth of playing right now for me After this I started to think about to make come back to 12,5". To widen my pole exploration, I bought one SSD (500GB) instead of SSD+HDD. And now I don't know what to choose. 2570p: + no soldered CPU, alu chassis, heatsink mod. - no IPS option (even mod), rpms (the lowest 3200 rpm vs 2600 in 8460p, and 2400 in X220), no backlit E6220: + rpm (?), IPS mod, alu chassis, backlit, heatsink mod(?) - soldered CPU X220: + rpm (!), IPS, heatsink mod(?) - soldered CPU, poor chassis, backlit
  6. Do You mean 40C in idle with 3820QM in 2570p??? Does idle mean average temperatures during browsing internet, listening to music, lastfm and few office documents? What about stress temperatures (for example peak in 3dm11 benchmark)? Wouldn't be better for You to swap CPU between E530 and 2570p?
  7. @Eisbrecher99 In my opinion there is something wrong with your eGPU, your results in 3dm11, especially graphics score are definitely too low for GTX760 and Gen2.
  8. little comparison between CPU's and GPU's. Here You have evidence there is no point of buying better cards than GTX660 without QM CPU. GTX560ti (i5-2520M vs i7-2670QM) - 200 points difference in CombinedScore. GTX760 (i5-2520M vs i7-2630QM) - 2000 points difference in CombinedScore.
  9. So in Your opinion, can we assume (only assume, I know You don't promise ) there shouldn't be any problem with PE4L 2.1b with 100cm and 150cm flat cable?
  10. Did anyone test PE4L (EC) 2.1b with other lenght of cable than 60cm (100cm or 150cm) if it's working on PCI-E 2.0 in laptop (NOT desktop)? I need longer cable but i'm affraid of soldering so I'd like to buy longer cable version of PE4L if it works with PCI-E 2.0.
  11. @coyote I had the same issue few times, restart laptop or reinstall 3dm11.
  12. hi guys, Im cust curious where is the logic of doing something like that? Gigabyte added a 2xmolex-8pin connector but this connector contains only 6pins! 2 - black, yellow and red. stupidity or I dont understand something?
  13. drivers for desktop version, to fix wifi try to log out and log in OS. here You have my 3dm11 result - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor,Hewlett-Packard 161C and HWinfo logs https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjXR0nHa9ucndDUwbXY2LXR6OUd2SUN2STNMSG5NdUE#gid=0 Does column BK look ok? Does anyone can recognize any reason of so low result with GTX760 and i7-2630QM?
  14. @phillofoc - It was not my laptop, it belongs to @jot23 and I was CPU owner (i7-2630QM) - look here - http://forum.techinferno.com/hp-business-class-notebooks/2537-12-5-hp-elitebook-2570p-owners-lounge-2.html#post54157
  15. after comparison my results where I achieved around 7,5k points in Graphics score to score achieved with desktop CPU (9,5k points in GS), I assume that GTX760 and above are not worth of buying because of more than 20% loss in graphisc power. On polish forum we figured out that I have an problem, there are few question: is it possible that i7-3612QM has more than 1000 PhysicsScore points more than i7-2630QM? how its possible to gain 8800 GraphicsScore points in 3dm11 on GTX670 (@MikjoA) when I gained only 7500 points on GTX760 and 2630QM?
  16. 8460p from signature + GTX760 Gigabyte WindForce OC. Order: start - f8 - plug turned on eGPU - later states of installation: Notice that before installation nVidia drivers, GPU-Z sees eGPU on PCI-E 3.0 results 3dm06 and 3dm11. External, power: balanced, Gen2. Temperatures during test in room (not on the sun) where was ... 30-31C.
  17. @HyperMyth I upgraded a CPU by myself. Is it worth? Not so sure but I have to admit that average temperatures on cores during play TombRaider were lower with QM than with 2520M, probably because good optimalization. Temps during browsing, listening to music are around 50C on cores, even with high room temperature (22-26C). With lower room temperature they goes down something around 2-3C. mean temperatures ander 55C are very acceptable for me. I used MX-4 and Zalman STG-2 separately and there are very comparable temps on cores.
  18. I'm afraid that won't be possible because wires comes from the bottom of the screen. Maybe If someone could get IPS for bargain price (like I got) and has a good skills in soldering there would be a small chance to make it work I got it for something around $80 but it was a class A- (for me invisible, little scratch). In Poland, brand new IPS screen, with recommended FRU is something about $150.
  19. You need to change generation in BIOS, from Generation 1 to Generation 2 in Device Configuration
  20. We have 90-95% power of desktop GPU currently so I don't think there will be any improvement with Haswell's. Even if there will be some imprevement it will be some around measurement error, vide there is no poin to buy anything on Hasweel, the same situation as it was between Ivy and SandyBridge.
  21. Few days ago I tried to run 8460p with i7-2630QM and eGPU, and play few hours with Tomb Raider and Crysis3, everything was ok, FPS, turbo mode. After this I realized I was using a ... 65W HP AC (from 2170p) so it's capable to run QM smoothly.
