UPDATE: New modified ME firmware file that works for Tech Inferno Fan, since this one didn't, is located here: http://forum.techinferno.com/hp-business-class-notebooks/2537-12-5-hp-elitebook-2570p-owners-lounge-41.html#post79212
Good day, recently i managed to take hold of a 2570p and would like to ask whether this mod would work with the newer bioses and whether the newer f.6x bioses have any restrictions compared to older bios revisions that may make them undesirable to upgrade to from bios f.44 which my notebook currently have.
-
if the pdf that i looked into is correct it would have atleast a mpcie slot so there atleast an adapter that may work with your pc however you may have to ask for someone to modify your uefi to remove any white/blacklist it may have and possibly other fixes as well. it looks like its the hardware acceleration is disabled probably due to quirks to optimus? try updating both igp ang dgpu drivers and see if it make things better sometimes works with games that recognizes the gpu as igp even when set to run using the dgpu

start here :
and overvolted versions are here:
-
what is the wattage of the psu ? the heatsink will likely need replacement
-
it is most likely gpu fan failure and that would fix it
-
even at startup ? could you check that all three fans are spinning freely and would increase their speed at power on for a little while maybe one of them are on their way out or have damaged speed sensors maybe ?
-
does the gpu fans increase their rotational speed along with temperature ?
-
seems to be a power issue ....could we see your setup ?
-
I don't know if this works efi systems but on AWARD bios you basically find the stock vbios or module part on the bios then replace it with your desired file and some trimming here and there so that the modules are where they are supposed to. Be prepared with at least a replacement bios chip and a soldering iron as it is highly probable that the product will be unbootable.are you overclocking the 660m ? slv7 has already made an unlocked bios with an overclocked vbios included as well :
-
likely you have to use bios modding tools to insert the vbios failing that probably with hex editing software best left to seasoned bios modders instead as differing sizes and possibly starting addresses of the vbios and other modules even a different order of the modules is enough to cause the bios to be unbootable.

a skylake w110er with muxed gpu and ips screen bigger backlit keyboard, ability to use four displays with an analog port shared w a digital port ....if it were possible i would also wish for socketed cpu and gpu as well as 4 dimm slots 5 m.2 slots and better cooling.

a w110/w230 successor with smaller bezels preferably closer to the w110 size maybe a bit thicker if that would allow better headroom to cram in hardware.
Well, I hear you, but with a thick bezel it's easier to upgrade to another panel: less chance that you gonna damage something, plenty of room for antennas on both sides and cables for the microphone and the camera. These all lead on the sides. It could be done in a smaller space, but it can be against serviceability.i thinks it has more to do with the flush glass bezels and making the lids thinner rather than making the bezels thinner.

a w110er successor with the following :
ability to switch optimus to either igp to dgpu
a bigger keyboard w/ backlight
a 12 inch screen
-
someone correct me if im wrong but the gt780 like the gt680 will not work w/ kepler gpus due to the lack of optimus support .
-
Yes, I did make all of this things. Throttlestop does nothing to change. Show and 797 does not change at all. HWINFO show the same thing. Testing on WathDogs (By the way, sound's freezing sometimes, and in WatchDogs sound go apart from video and...just stucking)
Maybe, my A04 bios is the fault... But i can't update BISO to a05-unlocked while I have no battery..T_T
Sorry for my english
Did it ever reached its rated speed with the current or with another os? Sounds like it doesnt have microcodes for the cpu thus booting with the lowest multiplier of the cpu.Dont know how it could happen w/ a m11 but something similar happens to a portege m100 after a bios update or sometimes service work would run at only 600mhz regardless of processor soldered to the board and will not budge w/ any software until you booted a service tool that will configure the pc to run at the right speed

Hey i have a problem after changing my GTX770M to the GTX680M. The GPU will be recognized in the Safetymode of Windows and i am able to install the NVIDIA driver there but everytime i change Windows into the normal mode i get a blackscreen after the MSI logo..... Please help me!!
Best regards.
What drivers are you using

The CD/DVD drive space is probably about the same size area if not larger than that of what a laptop graphics card needs.. What if? On a standard laptop with a spare mini pci-e and disc drive bay, a GPU bay was made instead and the GPU interfaced with the motherboard via mini pci-e.
wouldn't you run short on space with an O/D Bay with all the circuitry and cables?
-
Thats very true. I typically use solidworks 2012 and I have had to do a lot of computational analysis ( like thermal integrity, stress tests, etc) I had an msi laptop with 4gb of ram and only 1gb vRAM. To run the tests without crashing I had to stop all unnecessary processes and close most background programs.
albeit I have learned a lot and what I knew back about computers doesn't hold a candle to today.
You are right tho.
-Driver stability,
-hardware acceleration optimization, (or complete lack thereof)
-the program in question
The rig's stability of its components matters a lot too. But even if they are the same cores, overclocking is known to shorten the life of any gpu, especially overvolting. Why not just get one a level up? buying a sager/clevo will get you the better equipment for the same price.
cross compare a lenovo from tigerDirect or newegg to an equivalent sager from xoticpc.com
They are great to deal with too, I've bought 3 laptops from them now.
I don't mean to put down the Lenovo-Y series, but if on a budget I'd go for the for utilitarian sager models that have more bang for the buck.
Well if the price gap is big enough I'd say get the one with slower gpu and overclock it given that lifespan does not shorten as dramatically as in older generations.I'd still check for what resources will the prospective applications consume the most.i'd agree with clevo suggestion though it would probably be out of his budget if he had to import one and the risk of loss and the usual hiccups with customs.
P.S it looks like your running out of ram not vram if killing processes helps you run solidworks

It is using the nvidia gpu. The problem is that the game thinks that it is working on the igpu instead of the nvidia gpu and therefore greys out certain graphic options.
ahhh....and you couldnt make good useof the dgpu outside of windows
-
try reinstalling your drivers ??
-
I wish they had kept it like that. Too many games only recognize my intel hd4000 instead of my dedicated gpu. Even worse is when they prevent you from accessing certain graphics options because they think you have an igpu.
you have to set the application to use the nvidia gpu using the nvidia control panel or by right clicking and using the run with graphics processor option
-
It uses the integrated hd gpu by default. To disable the nvidia gpu, go to nvidia control panel and go to manage 3d settings, select global settings and change preferred graphics processor from auto select to integrated graphics.
Editing bios is not needed.
Optimus was introduced in the gt60/70 series ,you can't enable the integrated graphics on the older notebooks since the igp is not wired for use.Try reseating the card first and see if that helps (not likely) if not then you need to replace the video card.

I thought bootcamp automatically restarts the mac ? I wonder how well the hackintosh tricks apply to real macs ......read somewhere about someone who got a 7970m working on a p370em using an alternate personality and patching it to make the internal screen work (doubt if its needed though since output connectors is standard mac config but then no imac came with a 7xxx series card and how well the imac takes the uefi) then so its a safer bet with the NVidia I guess.
P.S. read that non uefi cards would only work in the mac pro not on the imacs
-
Yes, the Dell can do it and I am now sorry I did not do that - to remove all Dell warnings and passwords - before I dis- and re-assembled the M6600.
About the MSI I am not sure, because I do not have a CPU with on-die video.
Does the GT683 boot without a dedicated videocard?
yep it goes straight to windows (you can hear the windows start up sound and responds to input)(igp is not wired i think )

thank you very much for the quick response. is it worthwhile to upgrade to upgrade from f.44 to f.64 bios ? the newer bios have some fixes but i haven't seen confirmation whether the newer bios retains the broken whitelist for wlan.
