  1. This is all very true indeed I think if I can somehow afford to sell off my hptm2t to someone that's just after a convertible tablet with reasonable power for performance and not the latest bee's knees (although vs standard equipped convertible tablets.. no eGPU's in the picutre) It's one of the best AFAIK. Either way, after that, I'd be able to put that money towards one of the HP elitebook Tablets instead and completely pimp it out with goodies
  2. As a follow up post, Wacom have been contacted and they refuse to provide any information or assistance claiming that as they did not supply me with the device, they can not offer me their support. They then went on to tell me that as they did supply Lenovo, I would need to ask Lenoov to talk with them to get the information that I need so that they can relay this back to Lenovo and then Lenovo could pass that back on to me. What a joke... It seems odd that some games can swap how the mouse input is captured going between relative and absolute yet the drivers do not allow for end user control of toggling this feature any more. When I phoned Lenovo back, they said that they would get me the information and call me back the very next day. They are yet to phone me back. So, my options are to hope that someone out there does understand the issue and how it can be fixed or to press on calling Lenovo till they do something about it and I hvae an excessive phone bill. Will keep the progress posted as it rolls in.
  3. Thank you for this info Nando, you're help and knowledge are major time savings and I for one am glad that you share this information with others. I'm not sure how good it would look having the tablet with it's base cover left open and cable strewn from inside of it like that but down the track, if it's screen falters again, it would make an ok new pc. Can't believe that they also soldered their chipsets into the board! It's pretty selfish as it would surely have cost less time to just socket them instead of soldering them into the boards.. maybe on a factory line it's about the same time I don't know.
  4. That's an odd error to have happen, I can't imagine how the cursor and your graphics card setup would interfere like that.
  5. Yeah man the truth of it all is pretty shocking. I may down the track when I can afford to buy one of the afore mentioned tablet Pc options
  6. I own the i5 U470 processor version and want to know which parts I can upgrade. ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450 dedicated card 8GB Ram 2x 4gb sticks non ssd hdd currently (so I know about this upgrade) Can I upgrade my ram cpu and gfx card? The current cpu has 4 cores..
  7. Thanks for the information, that's really helpful stuff, some of it goes over my head but most of it I do understand. i'm not sure what the 1.20pt and 1.10pt refer to but I think it looks like for me, I should prioritise towards the 1.20pt PE4L-EC2C (HIT is the brand I take it) HAHA shoebox sounds like an enclosure at the right price for my budget too ^ ^ I use my tablet for Video Editing, Cad / 3D Modelling and Sculpting and Graphic Design work. The gaming is just the icing on the cake that I'd like to have available. That's why the extra ram would come in handy for me. I prefer the tablet interface and portability to a desktop alternative. I wonder if my HP TM2T can handle over 8gb of ram, and if the ram in my x230 is compatible with it, i might be able to put one of my 8gb dimms into it to boost it to 12gb
  8. It blows that they soldered the processors to the board. I guess I will just have to work with what I currently have. I'd love to have bought one of the fujitsu's but they were 2000 dollars more than what I picked up my x230 for and at the time I had no idea lenovo solder their cpu into the boards.
  9. I have installed the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility for overclocking Intel chips and when I go to apply the settings for my HD4000, it simply reverts back to the default settings and I have to enable overclocking again but can not actually apply changes. To this extent, I gather that Lenovo have some how protected their processor from being overclocked (and I do not plan on overclocking it by a lot due to it already running at just 10 degrees celcius below the maximum safe line that I would prefer to stay within (currently it's around 75 degrees celcius at it's most hot.. it peaks just below 80 for short moments) I'm willing to max out at 80 to 85 degrees celcius. Is there a way to create a custom adjusted profile for that particular utility and apply it. I've not been able to locate where the profiles are saving to at the moment. Any help would be awesome. If there is a 3rd party utility for overclocking I'm open to giving that a whirl as well.. I am just wanting to find a way to increase my performance slightly from where it is currently at. I have 16 GB of system ram and it seems a waste that I can't find out how to dedicate more of this to the HD4000 for it's usage.. I read conflicting reports that say it will help and others say it does nothing to improve the situation.. I just don' tknow which to believe.
  10. I need my pen to work in Mouse Mode. by default the Pen works in Pen Mode. In version 5.1.1-5 of the Pen Tablet Properties (part of the wacom drivers) You could assign Mouse Mode or Pen Mode under the "Pop-up Menu" command that is an optional binding for the button on your pens. Unfortunately the X230t that I purchased doesn't seem to have this option.. it is running version 7.0.0-29 Has anyone else come up against this issue before, it strikes me as odd that absolutely no one that I could locate on several forums has needed this option. I called Lenovo support and they didn't even know what Absolute or Relative cursor positioning was so I knew from the outset that they were going to be a waste of time... I have tried to install an older version of the drivers from my HPTM2T (it runs the 5.1.1-5 version with the option to switch between Mouse and Pen modes. sadly, the Lenovo X230T does not recognise these drivers or more specifically the drivers do not recognise the wacom tablet features inside of the X230t. My last resort will be to contact wacom and ask why in god's name did they remove this feature from the latest version. This is all speculation but I get the feeling that : A. They removed it out as noobs were likely swapping this around and then had no idea how to get it back so the pen worked normally. B. The ability for the pen to work in Absolute as well as Relative modes, seems to have likely been the reason for fairly regular wacom pen "drop-outs" where the pens would suddenly swap of their own accord to Mouse mode and a restart was required to swap it back (if you didn't know you could manually swap it) C. All of the above. in either case, My suspicion is that the ability for the pen to go into mouse mode (I believe this is called Relative Mode .. would still be possible but may only be accessed by executing a script, macro or batch file that opens up the wacom drivers and alters the values around that control this feature. (and of cause a 2nd script to reverse this action) Ideally if there is an older version of drivers for the pen / tablet floating around somewhere out there that work for the x230t I would love to get those installed as that will be the fastest and less messy (homebrew) fix. If anyone has any ideas on how to resolve this issue I would greatly appreciate any available assistance.
  11. So after reading many threads relating to Nando's ban and poor experience relating to the Lenovo X230 I'm a little bit concerned that I've made a poor purchase decision. I own the Lenovo X230 Tablet (X230t) I have the I7 3570M 2.9 16gb ram and sadly the HD4000 Currently on all Low settings I get a minimum frame rate of 7fps in BF3 and a maximum of 70fps I need to of cause increase that minimum up to around 30fps so it becomes consistently playable and this is where my need for an eGPU comes into play. I'm not loaded with cash by any stretch of the imagination so what I need is to find out what the most cost effective method to achieve this will be. Also, a while back I noted that there was still no fix for the 16bg of ram issue and I would prefer to use all the ram that I purchased if possible, so if anyone knows of a new release that has fixed this issue I'm all ears. Please if someone is able to advise me on the parts I would need to purchase (possible links would be super amazing) so that I can achieve my required goals, I would be most grateful. n.b. I only recently began to question some other technical dramas with my Lenovo on the NBR forum with no responses.. so their evidential bias would likely be the reason for this.. perhaps I will get better luck on this forum with some answers..
