OK unfortunately I can't remember what I did differently but I've now got my X220t (Win8 UEFI i7 8gb) running perfectly with my GTX 460. My WEI score is a few decimal points lower than in Win7 but I don't notice the difference in real world use.

I've had similar issues on my x220t (i7-2620m, 8gb ram, Windows 8 pro 64 bit UEFI) with my GTX 460. It worked totally fine when I had Windows 7 but since upgrading to Win 8 it's not worked. The weird thing is that I've got Win 8 installed on a new SSD, and when I put the old hard drive which has got a Win 7 install which was previously working with the eGPU it still doesn't work. I've downgraded the BIOS which didn't help then reflashed the latest UEFI/BIOS too, it's still not working. Do you use BIOS or UEFI? You say your eGPU is detected by device manager, but with what combination of switches? In all BIOS and Windows combinations the eGPU isn't detected unless I force detection by putting SW1 into position 2 (x2-x16 PCIe mode), and SW2 doesn't make any difference. Then I get it detected in device manager and can install drivers but have the same message of you of no display attached to an NVidia GPU, either on the internal or external screen. In Win 7 I get error 12 and in Win 8 I get 'no drivers are installed for this device' even after a successful driver install, then manually selected one doesn't work. I think I'm right in saying this indicates a TOLUD issue? I've not got any spare RAM sticks to test with <4gb, but as I say it was all working fine before. Is this a problem common to Lenovos on Win 8? Has anyone got a Lenovo running Windows 8 working with an eGPU? Update it's now working fine, not sure what I did differently unfortunately

Hi, please could someone help with my eGPU? I've got an x220t i7 2620m 8gb RAM which was previously working fine with my GTX 460 is not detecting my eGPU at all (the fan won't slow down) with SW1 set to x1 link. If I force detection by setting SW1 to x2-x16 then the fan slows and it's detected in device manager, but I get error 12 in Windows 7 (BIOS) and 'no drivers are installed for this device' in Win 8 (UEFI). I've run into this problem since I installed Win 8 for the first time which was on a new SSD, but even if I put in my old HDD with the previously working Win 7 installation it get the error 12. I've not got any other RAM to drop to <4gb, but I've downgraded the bios to 1.24 which was previously working and reflashed the latest which I believe should have dynamic TOLUD, neither of which has made any difference. Has anyone got any suggestions or had similar issues? Thanks

Hi, I've having problems with my x220 tablet and GTX460 (i7-2620m, 8gb RAM, Vertex 3 SSD, Win 8 UEFI). I had an eGPU working absolutely fine on Win 7 and the installation was basically plug and play, couldn't have been easier. I then installed Win8 UEFI and couldn't get the card to work. The fan would continue running at full speed regardless of the perst delay and restarts/cold boots. It would be detected by device manager when using x2-x16 mode on SW1, and I could install drivers but then there would be an error message saying 'no drivers are installed for this device'. I tried reinstalling Win 8 using MBR/BIOS instead of UEFI but it still wouldn't work. I then put my old HDD in with the previous Win7 install and that would detect the card (only with SW1 at x2-x16) and give me an error 12 message. Now I've got my SSD back in, and the fan speed lowers when plugged in at x2-x16 (not at x1), with light D1 green and light D3 orange, but it won't show up in device manager and I can't install drivers. I've not got an easy means of testing the hardware, so can anyone tell me if this is likely a hardware problem or will I need to do a DSDT override like Psychotoxic did? Thanks!
