  1. Do you think something like this could work? I mean, using it in an enclosure. HDMI F/M Black HDMI female to male Adapter/Converter 180 degrees rotating | eBay
  2. I remember something like that happening when using Chrome with eGPU.
  3. What extension cable are you using? Or did you create it by yourself?
  4. Oh ok. I heard somewhere here that the total weight were 1.5kg. Then it's correct, 99$.
  5. Strange. I just tried and it states 26$ to Italy. I input 1.5kg as weight. Also, your link points to taobao, not yoybuy. At least in my mobile browser.
  6. Does that 99$ price include EMS shipping? Because when I looked some days ago the shipping cost with ordinary China post was about 25$, which would make 75$ total price. Thanks for the guide!
  7. About number 1), I think he means that there is a limited space (28.5cm if I remember correctly) to accomodate the VGA into the enclosure. About number 2), are those AC adapter really used?
  8. Nice work with your enclosure! Very handy having it behind the monitor. About the carpet knife, is it really possible to cut plexiglass (it's plexiglass, isn't it?) with it?
  9. Wow, I'd have never thought to the polarity thing. It's probably better to stay with the provided 220w ac adapter, unless they come up with an alternative. I was now looking at this enclosure: http://www.yoybuy.com/en/show/35071708906/?s=t It looks good and it's cheap. One problem I was thinking about is that with it you won't be able to detach the hdmi and power cable from the exp gdc. Well, you can detach them, but you'll have a hard time re-plugging them. In order to be able to detach the power cable (at least), I thought you could use a DA-2 extender cable, but there is none on the eBay...
  10. Thanks. Would the auto on/off (by inserting/ejecting the EC) still work?
  11. This probably sounds silly to you guys, but... Isn't there the option to purchase a smaller (and less powerful) AC adapter? 220W is far more than what I'd need, and that adapter is huge.
  12. Many thanks, Sonek! How is that PCI-E power cable going to be used?
  13. Your answers seems rather good, thanks! Great thing having the exp gdc automatically switching off by just pulling the expresscard. Just one more thing: is the hdmi cable soldered on the expresscard side, isn't it?
  14. I'm trying to sum up some information about this EXP GDC v6.0. 1) the provided PSU is meant to be plugged in that 8-pin slot. 2) the 6-pin slot is meant to provide additional power to vgas that require PCI-E extra power. 3) the HDMI cable is soldered on the expresscard side. Are my assumptions right? Now, I'm wondering the following things: a) How is it supposed to be switched on/off? Only by pulling the power cord out of the wall socket? Is the 8-pin slot an ordinary 8-pin PCI-E slot? If so, could I use an ordinary ATX PSU, instead of the provided psu, by plugging the 8-pin PCI-E plug of the ATX PSU in the 8-pin slot of the EXP GDC? c) what's the "TD switch" it comes with? d) does it come with the startup delay switch used to overcome bios whitelisting? Maybe it is the so called "TD switch"? Thanks!
  15. Really? No import/custom fees from youbuy to Europe? Edit: about the PSU they provide, how is it going to be attached to the exp gdc? DC jack or what? In their site the images are not really clear. Also, there seems to be no reviews about exp gdc. Thanks.
  16. How did you manage to run that 3840qm @4.1GHz?
  17. Hey nando, have you got any information about the alleged 2.0 PE4C? Is it really being worked on? Thanks.
  18. Anyone actually knows what that 4 pin slot above the on/off switch is?
  19. Here is a very detailed PCIe scaling analysis, it also covers our x1.2 case. For both AMD and Nvidia, dx9-dx10-dx11. AMD is better in general, and way better in dx9. Given the new 256MB PCI address space requirement, the only advantage for Nvidia vgas is the internal screen mode. Am I forgetting anything?
  20. @jacobsson I agree with you, but I still hope they will come up with a solution. I mean, on hwtools site they mention the PE4C as version 1.2, while nando reported they are working on a 2.0 revision here: In the official PE4C images at hwtools.net I don't see any 2.5mm DC jack, nor any "HDMI connector for PCIe input". I still hope we are really missing the 2.0 revision. They can't really think of shipping that PE4C with that toilet paper cable. About the price, you are right. It's silly that in Europe we are going to pay almost twice the product's cost... They should make an agreement with an EU reseller. OT: what do you think it is that 4 pin slot over the on/off switch? It says 3V-5V-12V-ground. See here.
  21. I think this is enough, no need for the X220. Thanks. However, this is bad news. If I read it correctly, it means a GTX 750Ti needs 16+256+32 MB of PCI address space, which is quite a lot. Same as AMD cards. Anyone can confirm?
  22. I just looked at PE4C. I thought it was some older model, I didn't know it had just been released. Sorry. Indeed you can go for PE4C if its cable is not a problem for you. If you don't plan to travel with your PE4C and always leave it on the table I don't see it breaking easily. Other than that I find it better than PE4L. It's been discussed here.
  23. I wouldn't be so harsh with this PE4C. It costs less than PE4L and it has no need for 5V power and it has a full x16 slot with locker. The only drawback I see is the cable, which hopefully hwtools will swap for an ordinary mHDMI cable. I don't see a lot of people buying PE4C with such a fragile cable... But other than that I think it's a good improvement over PE4L.
