  1. Short answer is no, long answer most likely not. 1) if you look here, M.2 NGFF SSD Compatibility List | My Digital Discount (Page 2), they say the xps 13 is only sata capable, so not suitable for egpu, the sony has a 50:50 chance 2) in the sony, and most like dell, the M.2 slot is the only hard drive option, see image, you would have a m.2 egpu or internal hard drive. 3) as far as I'm aware there are no M socket adapters suitable for laptops
  2. Have you tried the AMD ones? Dell Alienware Graphics Amplifier Driver might not work if Dell has done stuff at there end, or the drivers might only work on a Dell Laptop tho
  3. I was just looking round and saw these AMD drivers, Dell Alienware Graphics Amplifier Driver , which are design for the Alienware Graphics Amplifier and was wondering if any one here had tried them with there own build? Give they are designed for egpu system I though is it possible for better performance and maybe internal screen support? Sorry if they have already been discussed and I missed it
  4. Anyone looking at setting up an egpu with M.2 ngff port and EXP GDC V7.0 be advise, from messaging hero cloud at Aliexpress it appears the ngff adaptor is not compatible with the common B or M ngff ports, but is rather A key. I came across this off the sale sites, says "ngff(slot A)" and from counting pins in images to try and identify compatibility with my own computer. Here's my conversation with hero cloud: If anyone has further, or contradictory information feel free to correct me
  5. Im no expert, with only having read over the forum myself and not actually built an egpu, but both the exp gdc v6 and v7 have a TD swith for 'resolving hardware issues' (look at banggood and aliexpress), which might do the same thing. But like I said, I know just about as much as you, so might be better to wait and see what others have to say See Tech Inferno Fan's post below for correct answer
  6. Thanks for all the help with trying to sort out the ports, but am most likely going to leave it tho. I feel I should point out thought, the exp gdc ngff cable appears to have an A slot ending, from product description and counting pins, so will not be usable with B and/or M ngff ports
  7. Am looking to setup an egpu on a HP elitebook 820 and would really like some help, am aware I am reposting some of this stuff, so will be last time. The 820 has two M.2 ports, one for 'flask cache' / ssd the other for wwan and was wondering if it is possible it tell if either is pcie wired. @Tech Inferno Fan suggested trying wlan card in M.2 ports to see of it was registered, but have tried and unless there is something I a missing, or miss understanding, it will not fit, let alone the pins line up. 820 ports - mpcie, 'flash cache' M.2 and wwan(?) M.2 (sorry about picture quality) Also playing round in HWinfo64 and noted second pcie port with slot implemented, could it be M.2? or something else? The second thing, is trying to get a M.2 setup even worth it from a performance point of view? If my understand in correct a pcie M.2 will offer an 8Gbs x2.2 link, which will allow optimus for internal display, but not compression, however the link will still get better performance than 4Gbs + c, am I correct in this thinking? Lastly does anyone know how the i5-4300u will affect performance, will it bottle neck cards like 660ti/570/760 making something like a 750ti a better option? Thanks
  8. Little confused as how to do this, open laptop up and the wireless card is to large to fit other slots, there a three slots, one with wireless, mpcie I assume, and two smaller/narrower ones in assuming are ngff, one is labelled flashcard and the other looks set for wwan or wlan, has aerials taped in it. Also how much of a bottle neck will the processor be, will it be ok with something like gtx760/gtx660ti/gtx670 or would these card just be wasted and something like 750 ti be better?
  9. Hi. I have recently purchased a HP Elitebook 820 and was looking at setting up an egpu for it. It has both a mpcie port and ngff, and although my research shows the ngff is most like only sata, M.2 NGFF SSD Compatibility List | My Digital Discount, I was wondering if there was any definitive way to tell? And if it was pcie what setup would gain best performance - would optimus engage over the ngff? and if not how would ngff compare with mpcie at 1.2opt. Thanks
  10. This is mainly just hypothetical, but I was wondering if it would be possible to run an egpu off an android tablet, if you could find on with an mpcie slot?
  11. Hi I have been looking at the idea of building an egpu for a while now and just want to check I'm on the right track before making the final call. My laptop is a Dell Vostro 3560, it has a 7670m dgpu. At the moment I'm thinking of getting a pe4L, is that the right one? For a gpu currently I'm looking at gtx 650 or gtx 460, can pick both up second hand for similar prices, and want to know what would be the more suit able. Last for the power supply can to 12v cables be used to make up to the total amps needed?
