    the cabled version 125USD

I’m terribly sorry, but I think I couldn’t make it.

The cabled version I made have a terribly high failure rate and I don’t want to ship faulty adapters to you guys.

If you really want the cabled version, you may wait longer and I will increase the price to 175USD.

    I’m terribly sorry for that.

And if you don’t want the cabled version any more, please contact me by email and modify your requests in the spreadsheet.

  2. I’ll tell you how much I have paid on shippment and tax etc.(I’ll pay the execution fees).I’ll let you know in the email. Just pay me the price of the adapter and the shippment fees together to me. When I’m ready, I’ll email you. Thank you for your love and tolerance!

    Hello

how much is difference in the price between the normal and Cabled version of adapter?

I’m really not want to sell the cabled version for it’s easy to wear out the cable and break down.

But if you really want one I’ll do that for you.

I wanna set the price of the the board 90 USD, the acrylic case 20 USD and the cabled version 175USD. On paypal.Excl. Shipping.
I really don’t want to set the price that high but...The f*ing high execution fees.

btw if you can pay me via alipay or we chat pay that will save a lot of hassle. And maybe I can give you a discount. :)

I think everyone should realize that SH is an enthusiast, a student, and an innovator - not a business or high-volume hardware manufacturer. Appreciate the amazing work he has done during an already-stressful time in his life, and be accommodating and understanding about the sale and shipping of these adapters. The same applies after they arrive - it's not like these come with a warranty, and he's just one dude, not a customer support team. We're going to have to work together as a community to solve issues that come up. Remember that you're not buying a product from a huge company, SH is probably paying out of pocket to get these manufactured and we need to appreciate this and his brilliant design efforts.

Tl;dr - don't act like a customer, act like a fellow tech enthusiast.

Thanks for your highly praise for me.

I'll try my best to provide the best things I could to all you. But there are so many processes that could introduce issues: my production without actually serious QS(I'll try out everything as I can to ensure I found nothing wrong), during shipping, payment issues, foreign money exchange etc.

I found myself have to learn many things and let all of the things makes sense.

I'll try to figure everything out as soon as possible.

And thanks you guys for all the supportings and all your suggestions!

(btw in the following couple of weeks I'll be free and spare more time to get everything right. :)

also, my adapters DOES come with a warranty. If you need it to be repaired, send me an email and I'll send you my address to let you send your adapters.

Aliexpress sounds really good as you should be able to access cheap and quick express postage services with them: China has negotiated ultra cheap postage with the postage companies.

Emmm...That's impossible for I don't really have the business licence.

Can I use dell da-2 power supply with this board?

What‘s da-2 psu? If it have 20pin ATX connector and 6/8pin PCIe auxiliary power(depending on your gpu) that should be enough.

@Swung Huang Just forget about it. Use direct sales with payments on PayPal. This should be enought. Don't forget about PayPal fee, they updated recently their rules.

Thx. I will check that out.

I'm also appreciate if you can sell it on aliexpress that i've always used for imported goods to Indonesia, but its okay with other global marketplace for handle the payment and tracking @Swung Huang

Aliexpress requires some license and I don't actually have them. So that may not work.

  8. Oh, I found myself overlooked the privacy issue.

If you are not comfortable to put your shipping info in that spreadsheet , just leave an email address there and get in touch with me by email. (by aforementioned email address

As for the customs all i am asking from you is to mark the package as gift and put low value 10$, thank you

I don’t understand what you mean. Could you explain it?

@Swung Huang could you explain the only board it will be like previous model as geralts? i mean for the acrylic stand which will it be, the first or the second with the expansion pci cable?  because you had posted some photos on your previous post.  Also if you shipp it from China could you mark the package as gift and put low value lets say 10$? because i had issues with customs in my country, thank you.

1.The second verison is going to cost more. If you still want it, just put in your request in the first blank and I can customize that for you. It may not go into mass production for too little demand.(according to the previous reply)

    2. Shipping , taxes & additional fees added by customs will not be included. For too much country to deliver, I don’t really have the effort to check the policy of every country. Sorry for that.

But its best if you can create a ebay link where its easy to make payment and track the order.

I'm finding out how to do this lol. I don't have an ebay account yet.

@Swung Huang Can you send it to India by any chance?

I don't know if there's any difference or difficulty to ship things into India? I haven't done such things before. BTW,I'm in China.

  12. Here’s a Google sheet.

If you want an adapter, put your address and shipping info in it!

I will decide the price according to how many people want it.

    Won’t be too expensive.(under $100)

Just a plain board with ultrabay->PCIe, without any other fancy stuff.

An acrylic stand can be purchased additionally. Please tell me if you want it.(additional cost will apply)

My personal email is [email protected] or [email protected]. I will get contact with you if I’m ready for shipping.

My current Adapter: v8.0 exp gdc laptop its a $30 dollar adapter, if you could make an affordable version it will be nice, because $200 for me feels more like getting a new GPU, than the 15% percent performance increase.

There will be a cheap version of the adapter. The $200 version is just for those who wants to pay for the premium.(What’s more, it could be wayyy cheaper if I could find any cheaper sources of the receptacle of Oculink.

If anyone wants to research on that would be really cool!

  14. Or anyone have any idea on how to get the oculink (SFF-8611) receptacle? The only source I have found is the nvme RAID cards or nvme ssd cages.

If I could find these alone then it will cut the cost a lot.

The price of oculink cable is fairly reasonable.(about US$15)

Ah, I see. I wasn't aware they'd completely disabled the iGPU on the Y500.

@Swung Huang - wouldn't using OCulink create overhead and thus reduce the maximum performance of the GPU?

It shouldn’t. Oculink itself is designed to transfer PCIe signals.

Just to reconfirm, I simply need a basic model to use eGPU on my laptop, any extra sata/thunderbolt support is good but not mandatory for me. Currently I have 2 plans: Move my GTX 1080 TI from desktop to laptop, or buy a new GTX 1650 which claims  to run without power supply on any old PC. As long as the new adaptor can fulfill either one plan and can run stable, then it is ok for me. (though the GTX 1650 looks really interesting as a portable laptop upgrade)

There will always be a base model and that’s mature.

I’m just wondering how many people are interested in the ultimate but expensive y400/500/410p/510p eGPU solution. For the laptop itself is aging, I don’t know if it’s worth investing after all.

  17. I don’t listed ANY of my design on ANY platform.

That’s tricky, but the fact is that I posted my design somewhere in Chinese and somebody ripped it  off and made their own. And they just claim that’s their work, which makes me angry.

What’s more, they just did a bad job and most of these boards have a bad connection or unstable performance or weird behavior(like often BSOD or running at x4 or even x1 instead of x8),which bring me a bad reputation and frustrate me.

That’s why I hesitated to public my design.

I’m still working on my exam and have no extra effort dealing on this mess. But I haven’t listed any of  my adapters on eBay, aliexpress , dealextreme, taobao or anything like that for the time being. Stay tuned for that.

In defense of China, I don’t hate China and I am a Chinese myself. Not all the Chinese are evil. But there’s nothing to promise a country of 1.3 trillion population won’t have something unfavorable mixed into it.

  18. Maybe l found an elegant way to implement this project. It can make the attach/detach process as convenient as thunderbolt does.(Not hot unpluggable tho)It might be very expensive(can make the enclosure kit above US$200 but I will try my best to find cheaper part sourcesto lower the final price). Are you interested in it and willing to let me make it alive? How many of you are willing to buy it? Let me know.

(ps. It didn’t go through the proof of concept. It should work but I don’t know if I could make it work. Let me know if you DO want to PURCHASE it.

(I’m running out of money and the R&D for this project has cost me a lot :(. If you don’t REALLY want it, I don’t want to study on it any more. It cost too much of my life and money.

For anyone who wants to dive into it, it’s called oculink.

Would it be possible to instead design a thunderbolt ultrabay adapter?

Now it can be possible. I heard that the thunderbolt 3 card from gigabyte called GC-Titan-Ridge can work without attaching to the TB3-header and just short the pin3 and pin5 of the header! So maybe it will work on ultrabay adapter!

    Haven’t tried though.
