Can somebody with newer 17re SE and i7 3630qm dump his bios with this toolkit:

Please upload the cap file, this would maybe help recover my bios!!! I have an idea...

plase note, the best way to make BIOS dump is to use the standard Dell's utility like that:

dosflash -file BIOS.cap -bak a12, where "a12" is the dump's filename you choose

Let's wait until smb. make mod based on the Lenovo 16th vbios. the aim is 1200 MHz but we'll see how it goes...

Sounds interesting, but do you have any more information and the bios itself? That's just a random screenshot of a bios setup... not even the model is displayed.

2all. and here comes the Sun! here's the TOTALLY OPENED dell 7720's BIOS. "totally" means that all the hidden menus are now opened and customizable.

MSR 0xE2 memory register's write protection has been removed, it makes AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext back to work.

this is helpful for those who tries to install Mac OS.

Did I say any BIOS mod isn'n fine? doesn't work? NO. all I said is: there is ONE guy who flashed modded BIOS and got his 7720 bricked. nobody knows what exactly he did but I really think he'll fix it soon.

all I say is: be careful, be ready to flash back the original BIOS, don't be afraid. and try before flashing if you can.

one of those who flashed combined BIOS mod by Serbius from ixbt.com forum has BRICKED his 7720. at the moment, the author and some other guys are trying to find out how did he do that. now only fan works at the bricked notebook, LCD doesn't even flash its LED (but works! tested ok by pressing "d" while power on).

so, before flashing any mod you'd better test it by executing the procedure from the chapter "запуск BIOS без его перепрошивки" (ctrl+C to find it on the page) on this Wiki page: Dell Inspiron 7720. just use the google translator.

well, there's another issue with our 7720. now, actual BIOS doesn't see mSATA line as normal HDD/SSD bootable. I solved for myself this problem by using OS selector which starts from HDD, then offers mSATA SSD Crucial m4 256GB as bootable (it's because I needed 2 normal HDD AND OS installed on SSD, not ISRT).

but I hope somebody can find or already knows the BIOS key which prevents mSATA line from booting. If so, please, tell its name!

Well, blame Dell for disabling this, that's just plain stupid.

that's an artificial border between "mid-priced home" and "corporate" product lines. 7720 without its limitations will beat dell's other models sales for sure.

and, there's at least one ready BIOS mod linked. at the moment without VBIOS mod, but I hope it'll be ready soon.

Any ideas why AES-NI is disabled (reported as not available)?

don't think Dell will turn AES-NI back on because it aims the product line separation, like hiding some menu folders in 7720's BIOS or less funtional and speed in mSATA line.

visit Dell Inspiron 7720 [66] - and download from rghost (find this word at the page). it's russian forum but does it matter for download? also, you can find russian-speaking person in your community just to be sure you've got all instructions clearly.

also, I asked the mod's author to publish his A11 BIOS version here.

svl7, could you please enable AES NI instructions? It was enabled in A03 but dell turned it off in A08 and A11.

AES is set back on now in the modified A11 BIOS (ixbt ver.). I asked mod's author to let people here try his mod, if he allow this I'll let everyone know.

I beg me pardon, really. 5-10 usd isn't a big deal.

Is it possible to set mSATA SSD as notmal bootable disc by BIOS, not by OS selector installed at one of HDDs?

dear svl7, could you send tweaked a11 BIOS & Flashtool via email or upload it onto smth like depositfile, please? neither me nor other our dell7720 forum at ixbt.com members just don't have 5 posts here, sorry.
