  3. I think TurboTalon found a better way to do the retention mod. He used the normal heatsink without the c-clip change and just applied washers at the bottom to create more tension. That way you can use all 4 screws and still perform the mod using the same steps (e.g. tweaking the screws torque while watching prime95 on screen).

  4. Yes there are going to be some additional tests run that I didn't mention on the front page. Some of those include:

    • M17x-R2 with 720qm processor and single GPU vs R3
    • M17x-R2 with 720qm and crossfire vs R3
    • M17xR2 with SSD (depending if I can get one or stam/michael arrange it) vs R3 with SSD
    • Overclocked M17x-R2 vs Overclocked R3 (GPU only since 2630 can't be oc'd with TS afaik)
    • OC'd M17x-R2 CPU vs stock R3 CPU (I'm sure the 2630qm will lose here but its just to see how badly)

This review is most likely going to be split up into 3 different articles since there is going to be a lot of content.

  5. I think an M14x makes a lot of sense and I think Dell will replace the M15x with a thin M14x down the line. That's why we haven't heard anything at all about an M15x refresh and someone I know that works closely with Dell told me with confidence that the M14x is coming. I bet Dell is waiting to launch the M14x and M18x together. Welcome to Tech|Inferno, Infernia :)

  6. So I started a watercooling project back in 2006-2007 and my goal was to build a system that looked great, was near silent and did a great job with cooling. After researching all the available blocks, reservoirs, radiators, tubes etc I decided to build a lian li based water cooling system with custom imported parts from aquacomputers that included the reservoir and fan grill. I also used danger den blocks (maze I believe) for the GPU/CPU and a bix2 radiator with dual 120mm fans. The setup worked amazingly well, it was quiet and the temperatures were always 30c and below with overvolting + overclocking. I no longer have this particular system (got lost when I moved to medical school) but it still brings back fond memories and I plan to build another one when ivy bridge is released. :40_002:
