  1. Why did they kill the sigomatic? That was pretty useful. I haven't been part of a clan for years but I used to run one for BF: Desert Combat back in 2005-2006. So far my stats for BF2 aren't that great because I didn't really get into the game, I guess the lack of prone and the rampant cheating put me off from putting too many hours into it. Hopefully BF3 has a better anti cheat system built into it.

  2. Dude. I'm 5'4" and made the tough decision of getting a DTR: the R3. To test my craziness (and anxiousness), I cut out a piece of cardboard at work to match the R3's dimensions (2-dimensional only, of course), and it came out to be as big as my torso. And guess what? I don't mind it. So you may want to do the same. If you can't stand the large size of YOUR piece of cardboard, you prolly may want to get a 14inch laptop :)

    Good luck!

lol that's pretty funny. Welcome to all new members of the forum.

  3. and 'speculation' as to whether or not the subsequent thread on the M14x would survive over at nbr was just 'officially' validated - thread closed.

i take it as a clear indication that sometimes speculative conversation based on historical evidence and tangible facts proves to be reasonable and rationale afterall... ;)

with that said, it seems anyone with continued interest in 'speculating' about the M14x are free to do so here:

Amazing, they closed a thread with EVIDENCE supporting the M14x release? Well guys, now you know why Tech|Inferno exists and I'd encourage all that want to seek a place for OPEN discussion to come on over. On another note, see the notice above, we are looking for some new talent to help spur the growth of our website. :)

  4. Thx Brian - Just figured it certainly couldn't hurt to put in the stock scores and it makes all the OC'ing/modding/etc look amazing when compared with the same setup stock.

DaneGR - yep I tried for the sake of all the noobs and those not interested in OC'ing to have 'something' 'anything' to compare their out of the box scores to and I thought it would be simple to put in the sticky "please post your stock scores first, before you mod or overclock your laptop then list your best scores afterwards" but it was not met with much aplomb. :P

Good to see you again. I see you couldn't stay away from the M17X :)

Finally can someone please tell me, the suspense is killing, Does Brian K. = Joker5150?

Brian K. - Thx for entertaining the idea.

yes he is the same person, I can confirm it :)

    I plead the 5th.

  5. I actually took a desktop heatsink, cliped a small copper shim from it, and tried what Mike is discribing, and didn't see any improvement temp wise. Though maybe somone else could have differant results, I'd be willing to give it another shot.

Try the washer method that turbotalon did and see if you get improvements. I might do it today.

  6. TMI,

If you started experiencing lockups and BSODs after installing Rivatuner for overclocking, it may be because you did not set EnableULPS 1 to 0 in the registry. Or if you did, you could have missed an entry and it caused a BSOD on reboot. I know that happened to me in the past. Try booting into safemode, go to Start and type "msconfig" and in the startup tab, disable the Rivatuner Wrapper service. If that isn't the case, then it could be that the aftermarket ram you required needs more voltage which is something you could try.

  7. Crap, don't know why I didn't think of this, my wife just reminded me. You can call the CC company and have a temporary block on your card so Dell cant charge it. Little extra piece of mind.

Don't block everyone, just Dell/AW. It's provided as part of being an Amex customer.

Thanks for the tip. AMEX actually offered to block Dell as soon as I brought it up. :)
