  1. That's pretty creative w/the Windows sounds, I'd never have thought of something like that. The guy must have been extremely bored when he came up with all that though lol.

  5. The M17x-R2 was based on the Intel i7 architecture (PM55 chipset) and offered ATi 5870m as an option + RGB LED. If you had any of those, it was an R2. For signatures, it's all text based for registered users. You may however upload your own avatar.
  6. Welcome to the T|I forum wbabt007! Initially the turn around time was about 1 week or less but I guess since word got out about the M17x-R3, demand has skyrocketed and now wait times are exceedingly long. Michael has been waiting over two weeks for his and it's still in production! I was fortunate enough to receive my R3 fairly quick (1 week).
  7. Yeah this 240W limit they placed on the system to save money on ordering a custom PSU is ridiculous. It could also be that they didn't want to create a gigantic (bigger than the 240W behemoth) PSU because people would scoff at it's size and reviewers would give a negative impression and thus impact their sales/bottom line. I'm sure they saw the X7200 disaster (with SLi PSU's) and wanted to avoid that PR mistake.
  8. Haha who knows, they do source out to the lowest parts contractor like Dell. I agree about the screen, it would be nice if the 60 hz version was IPS or B+RG, there was no reason for Dell to cheap out on it. This may possibly be true although I still hold hope that they improve the M18x screen and offer something other than just WLED. Perhaps build quality may be a little more rugged but that's wishful thinking. Haha I know M18x is in your future, just embrace it!
  9. I was just about to post this Thanks for putting it up, +1.
  10. Oh this is far from decided, you're just suffering from AW withdrawl and just want SOMETHING AW related in your hands ASAP. Since the R3 should be shipping soon, you don't want to wait any longer..am I right?
  11. Realistically the M17x-R3 makes sense for you and me Michael since we don't game heavily anymore. But knowing how much we crave power in a small form factor, the M18x will be calling us--like those sirens that would tempt men lol. OT: I saw that stealth bomber at a local air show, it looks quite deadly up close, especially when it's flying really low. I got a chance to touch it too, didn't feel exactly like metal.
  12. I'm currently benchmarking and playing Crysis 2. I started Bullestorm already as well. I'll post some photos and video snippets of both tomorrow. Lets get some pics guys!
  13. Nice find Viking. It's pretty much confirmed at this point, too much evidence to say otherwise. Dell's own catalog showing it and the M14x together was the proof we needed. Looks like we should open up an official owners lounge soon. Damn I wish I could grab the M18x, guess I'll have to make do with the R3 until I decide what to do. I still haven't sold my other R2's yet.
  14. Just to echo what everyone else said, I would recommend 11.4 preview drivers, they work quite well. You can grab them from here: http://forum.techinferno.com/general-notebook-discussions/182-amd-catalyst-11-4-preview-driver-windows-7-a.html I would recommend setting your CCC to default (click the default button) and running your games again and see if you BSOD.
  15. I really do hope they make the M18x out of some metal rather than full on plastic/rubber like the R3. If that turns out to be the case, I may be tempted to sell my R3.
  16. Wow that is definitely taking it to the extreme haha! Congratulations on a new world record, I don't see any R2's breaking that until the M18x rolls around. I read in the other thread that you got the dry ice from an ice cream shop, that's pretty funny. So do you have any goals to reach higher or are you at your peak?
  17. Sweet! M14x looks to be a nice contender to Envy 14 and other similar sized notebooks. Very tempting.
  18. Cancel and get the M18x! I wish I wasn't passed my return period for R3
  19. When you say, "MMAA" I'm assuming you're referring to morophological antialiasing (MLAA). At 16x it could just be the framebuffer running out of memory or running into game compatibility errors. Can you post your exact CCC settings for us? Also, when you installed your new driver, did you uninstall the previous one through the control panel? Welcome to T|I.
  20. Unfortunately we don't have many M15x owners on the forum yet. Plus with the system being phased out, eventually there will be even less traffic from them.
