  1. what is modded in those drivers?

why dont u just get prema mod vbios? is the best out there and flashing is too easy.

ur card will boost the whole time, no thermal/power limit but still will throttel in afterburner oder furmark torture tests

cant thank prema enough for making my p170em take the 980m

i can get as far as +340mhz on top of the boost and +400mhz on vram

i wish the card would be better to overclock but im stoked anyways

i can get + 160mhz on top of the boost without voltage tweaks

my 7970m did 200mhz without voltage mod bios

but in the end the 980m is overclocked with 160mhz pretty exactly twice as fast as my 7970m with over 300mhz oc :D

  2. imho the gpu temp is not the problem on maxwell, as mine doesnt even get close to 80 or more degrees

the plate on my vrm and ram gets insanely hot when i run 100mv on my 980m, so i d recomend for now not even to go for 100mv as 24/7 oc... as long as u dont use an active laptop cooler or other optimisations

the problem also gets worse as the fan control takes only the gpu temp for the fan speed...so the better the gpu is cooled the worse it goes with the vrm and ram temps...

the clevo vrm and ram cooling is weak

  3. i have a 980m arriving on monday for my p170em, i was writing with prema about bios and stuff but atm he doesn t reply. but i understand that prema is a very busy man.

ill have a new thread opened by the arriving of the 980m or maybe tomorrow already

    cheers

  4. impresssive work, there was a time i had thee same idea like u

but i wanted to go with motherborad mosfet coolers and special small watercoolers

maybe i think about this again, as my 3920xm now need +50mv for 4.2ghz, when it was new he made the 4.2 with stock voltage

it runs quite hot when i go to 4.4 or 4.6ghz, but games dont need that much power so tehre is not really a reason to do that

also my 7970 did onmy 50mhz more with +50mv which resulted in a lot of heat so i decided its senseless to ov the gpu

ill see how the 980m in my p170em will behave

p.s add some more pictures pls. some of the heatsinks instaled and generally more pictures, its too interesting ;)

  5. i know i was just thinking about temp target and temp limit.

but i think 95° should be alright as one will only reach such temperatures in a very short timespan.

but with the liquid metal tim those temperatures are fortunatelly hard do reach ;)

im not running furmark and such anymore as they only torture the gpu uselessly, even prime 95im using very seldomly.

ive read reports of the x99family like 5820 and 5960x that some cpu have been destroyed due to heavy oc and prime

im testing my components throught havy gaming sessions and tbh bf4 crashes quite fast with unstable oc.

even cpu oc i primed 2h crashed in bf4 withing 10min same for the gpu

imho the power supply of a laptop is not made for torture test, especially in the clevo which was never ment to be cpu oced to 80plus tdp
