I had this issue
I know it sounds stupid and shouldn't work, but boot from a linux live CD and format your drive as NTFS. the windows installer should see it once it's been formatted once.

Sounds like you need to replace your CMOS battery.

I'd kill for this too.
The ability to turn off my graphics card would be a bloody amazing feature (currently battery life is garbage on linux because of the lack of a hardware mux)
