  1. I'm using the internal display for accelerating games using the akitio thunder 2 PCB, A custom case, 500W PSU and a riser. I'm running games on Windows 10. My typical perf improvement is in the 7-10x range. My procedure for booting up is as follows. Power on eGPU. Do not connect the thunderbolt cable. Boot to mac. Close all applications on mac. Use GPU switch to switch to internal. Shut down Mac. Hook up thunderbolt cable. Power up. If the efi menu doesn't show up, just hold down power button and reboot, try this 3-4 times and it works. Shutdown (from windows) I always use Hibernation to shutdown, that way I can boot into windows without having the CPU issue. The installation has been covered in other threads, so I'm not going to go over that, but rather issues related to this set up. If you have questions about the setup please ask and I'll do my best to answer. Issue 1) Refind no longer shows up. Reinstall refind using recovery option in your regular boot menu (from terminal). No other configuration required. This can happen after you clear NVRAM on your mac. Issue 2) Windows will not boot, it hangs and the spinning dots stop. Shut down, boot to mac. Close all mac apps, switch to internal gpu, shutdown and reboot. Issue 3) (This happens always). One CPU core is maxed out in windows due to Intel drivers. Disabling the driver and enabling this fixes this issue, but will cause issues with some games where they freeze randomly. The only fix I have gotten to work is to hibernate windows. Issue 4) Hibernation does not work, it just turns of display but does not power down the mac. Reboot to Mac. If closing the lid on the mac does not turn of the apple logo, reboot into mac again until it works. When it works, reboot again and switch to internal, shut down and boot to windows. Hibernating windows should shut down power completely, but the blue light on the akitio PCB will still be lit up. My mouse has LEDs on it, so when they shut off I know hibernation was working properly. It can take up 15 seconds for hibernation to work. Pressing the power button once will boot into the refind boot menu. Boot into windows, and wait a few seconds and hibernate. To summarize, my main issues are CPU core maxed out which is solved by hibernation. Windows hangs during boot, which is fixed by using GPU switch in MAC. Everything else is rockin'
