How are you guys getting on with this laptop now? I've been hovering over the trigger to get one but I can't help but think I may be missing out on the 1080m if I do. I've seen the P775DM2-G has been revealed with the presumed 1080m.

Well worth getting one, no regrets despite having to go in for a second repair to the cooling system after which the system is exactly what I wanted.

Large software builds now taking a fraction of time. Android Marshmallow build down to 12 minutes compared to 35 minutes on my previous machine.

I play all my games in 1920x1080 high detail with no stutter so far (Project Cars 2, Dirty Rally, Witcher 3, Virtual Pool 4, Doom + more)

Mine has also went back to PCSpecialist, mainly because it had 2 dead pixels right out of the box despite buying 1 year dead pixel guarantee and kindly asking them to really carefully test it for dead pixels.

Just for the record, I have 6700 and my cpu downclocks (Not throttling according to XTU) to 3.0 Ghz under 100% load.

I got my laptop back today from PC Specialist.

They found fault with the cooling system. So that fixed the problem with the CPU throttling back to ~900 MHz and high temperatures. Also there is a confirmed fault in the current bios version which means the machine can't properly get to 4 - 4.2 GHz. They are now working with Clevo to get that fixed, after which they will test and issue the bios update to me so that's good news.

The fan noise is whisper quiet when the CPU is under 100% load

Under Xubuntu 14.04 the CPU is holding steady at 3.9 GHz under 100% load

Under Windows 10 the CPU is holding at about 3.8 GHz under 100% load

Just testing out my software build environment, will try a game or 2 shortly and report back further. One seriously fast machine :)

  3.  I just bought a P775DM1-g from pcspecialist, been using it for a few days now. With Windows 10 everything works perfectly including processor states etc.

Further testing has revealed that gaming in Windows 10 or anything that loads the processor causes throttling. This concurs with what  @snowpepsi said.

However, with Xubuntu 14.04 - 16.04 + Linux Kernel 4.5-rc7, my preferred linux distro. There are are few problems, including one major issue

    - There is severe processor throttling when under load - starts at 4.2 GHz then throttles all cores down to 800 MHz (major)

    - WiFi wasn't able to work as support for the Killer 1535-ac wireless card isn't fully included as standard which I solved this by installing the correct firmware files

    - No backlight control

The processor throttling is an issue for me because I do a lot kernel and Android OS development so linux is my main OS normally.
