  1. Yes, i already modified the driver, but it tells me, i have the false Windows Version. And otherway as i was told, an unmodified Bios doesn´t support 120Hz and specially no 3D.

So i´d really try to flash an unlocked Bios. So could you please unlock my Bios?

  2. @ Klem:

sorry to bother, but then i urgently need a unlocked Bios.  I have put in my old M17x R3 an R4 Mainboard and mounted a GTX 1060 with an 120Hz display. After switching everything to UEFI i got a picture and could install Windows 10. I managed to mod the drivers and now it works, but only the drivers, NVIDIA still doesn´t accept it yet. I fear, this is a part of a Biosproblem.

So could you pleeeeease unlock it for me??

    Hi all, I'm Syspsi

Arrived here searching for modded bios for my Alienware M17x R4.

    I'm trying to upgrade from a 680M to a 980M, if possible.

That's is why i'm here, a lot of technical information and bios/vbios to the upgrade procedure.

Thanks a lot for all in advance.

Go to this Topic, works great, completely with detailed description for the installation:

I have the same exact computer, but I chose to upgrade to a Clevo/Nvidia Geforce GTX 680m. Works great on Linux, and is about equal to the 7970m, with a fantastic overclock potential. I got my 680m off of ebay from a computer store that specialized in professional audio computing. They had only used it to set up bioses, but I got it half off. Arrived mint, and I get about 63c running Unengine heaven for an extended period of time. Note that in the X8100 you will need to buy a modded double heatsink, as each stock heatsink in an x8100 is only rated for 65-75w TDP, and both the 680m and the 7970m are 100w TDP cards. Because of this you will only be able to fit in one of either, but you will have a bunch of extra thermal overhead for OC'ing because the modded double heatsink has a TDP of 130-150w!! Tell me, have you tried modding the FSB to run at 1600 and using ram of that speed on this machine? I think there is a modded bios out there that enables that.

    Hi,

with Linux it works, but if you want to work with an X8100 with Windows, the grafic card needs to be recoginzed in the bios, otherwhise you´ll need a modded driver and i don´t know, where to get ist, because this Notebook is quite rare.

I found in the net after long search, that the following cards are supported:

    Upgradeable MXM 3.0b VGA GRAPHICS:
       - ATi Radeon Mobility: HD5870 1GB DDR5 with DVi Dual Link; single and/or CrossFireX and HD7970M 2GB DDR5 single
       - NVIDIA GeForce: GTX 680M and 480M single or GTX 460M, GTX 470M, GTX 280M, GTX 285M in SLI
       - nVidia Quadro: FX 2800M and FX 3800M; 1GB DDR3 with DVi Dual Link

  5. I have the P170EM don´t know if its nearly the same but i have optimus. I can´t change it in the bios between the both cards, but you can see them in NVIDIA system, but you can´t change them, and you need both runnig to boot.

I changed from a defective 680 to working 660 with Alienwarebios, but worked directly without mods.

  6. Hello,

i´m new here, but first thanks a lot for the modificated drivers. You saved my day.

But i lost the point: which is the newest version of the Nvidia Drivers inf for an Alienware m17x R3 with 3D and a new mounted GFX680 m?

And, where can i download it? The files here mostly led on an lost page or the page told me, that i don´t have the permission.

Can someone please help me ? I have used your first 334,89 but even can´t download it here but found it over it´s name in a library.
