I'm on bios A05 (locked as it came with the laptop), I currently have no problems whatsoever with the laptop. Is there any safe way to update the bios

to A08 unlocked or should I just leave everything as it is...

Also does a 2tb sata3 6Gb/s 2.5 exist...been searching the web but would only find 3Gb/s hdds..

I would edit your pic to not include your service tag for your safety. If it was hosted here I would mention a mod to edit and hide your service tag for you. Since it is hosted elsewhere you will have to do so yourself.

Hey welcome to T|I and congrats on your new system. For now I'd hold off on flashing a bios until @svl7 unlocks the latest release. It is not advisable to go from the latest factory bios to an older unlocked one.

A05... very interesting. I don't know whether A05 already comes with this secure flash stuff... so not sure whether you would be able to easily flash to the latest version or not.

Hopefully that wont be the case..but as suggested above.. I'll wait and see.. For now I'll just concentrate on getting the upgrade components that I want..

New guy here and just got my M18x R2 delivered today with the following specs...

Intel Core i7 3920XM (8MB Cache, up to 4.1GHz Overclocked) ---> (was never overclocked..still at stock speed)

Memory : 6144MB (1x2048 + 1x4096) 1600MHz DDR3 Dual Channel ---> (will upgrade to 32gb in a couple of weeks)

Hard Drive : 500GB 7,200rpm SATA 3Gb/s HDD ---> (Will be changed to 256gb msata and 2 x 1tb hdds as well)

Optical Drive : BluRay Combo (Blu-ray read only, DVD, CD read & write)

Graphics : Dual 2GB GDDR5 AMD HD 7970M CrossFireX

Wireless : Killer Wireless-N 1103

A05 BIOS.

So far everything seems to be working fine..Haven't really tested gaming on it yet.

I'd like to update the bios if I can and was wondering which bios version could be recommended, preferably the unlocked version..?
