  1. after very much work i've modded the original cooler of my e6430 with igpu only combining it with the dgu model

i've desoldered the cooper heatpipes from the dgpu model, and soldered to the cpu plate of igpu only model, the plate must be machined to insert two cooler instead of one in place.

during soldering the opposite part of the heatpipes must be submerged in water or it will be desoldered and everything will be destroyed.

The necessary temperature has been obtained using an hot air gun setting to the max( around 800°C)

the alluminum tape is not strictly necessary is only to avoid small air leak  , everythink is soldered copper to copper

here are the pictures of the final result.

  2.

Is possible to modify fsb or blck clock with an IFR value instead using xtu? Thanks

Yes, look page 3 near the end... but first you need to unlock the flash descriptor.

Already unlocked, so i'll do, thanks

About your request, the igpu only cooler is too weak for cool down an over clocked quad core, the 3720 at 3.9ghz is already too much.. I've modded the cooler of dgpu model but isn't a easy work. So, I think is better to buy a cheaper 3720 instead, bye

  3. Power supplies don't cause throttling. Your laptop won't sense that it is at the psu power limit and throttle itself. Instead power supplies just turn off if their current rating is exceeded. In the case where the power supply is too weak its not so much as your laptop is throttling but instead that it is running on battery.

Some power supplies automatically turn back on after a few seconds, but most stay off until you unplug them from the wall and plug them back in.

Your problem is the cpu's low default vid table. You need to set the "additional turbo voltage" in ifr to raise the voltage. I can't remember if latitudes have access to this or not though.

Is possible to modify fsb or blck clock with an IFR value instead using xtu? Thanks

  4. @timorhour

I'm doing some customization to the cooling system of the e6430: with very hard work I've mounted the dgpu cooler over igpu only laptop.. Works better than the original

But I got a question: why the IFR values about CPU multiplier are not taken correctly? I'm using 40-39-38-38 and I would use 39-38-37-37 for increase stability during heavy gaming session.. I can't step down from the maximum values with IFR only? If i do so, nothing change .. I don't want to use xtu cause I have also a non windows o.s. thanks.

Edit: sorry for my stupidity.. Solved

  5. @timohour

Tried and it worked, thanks! Now is sata 3..

BUT.. the speed in not so great , hdtune pro in standard mode in read test give me a minimum of 194MB/s.. And a maximum of 250Mb/s.. i think is too low.. on my old thinkpad  with sata2 only i’ve seen 280mb/s ..

    Firmware version : JULA1102

EDIT: APPEAR TO BE FIXED NOW.

i've tried to benchmark with atto:

  6. with the Khenglish's help i've unbricked my e6430, reprogramming main and sub bios flash chip due an external programmer.

the programmer cost less than 10$ on eBay http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=262417774441&alt=web

after downloading bin image for main and sub eeprom and flashed, the laptop is now working fine!

now i can overclock with reference clock but but i still can't overclock turbo value, the sliders works and  the xtu says there are 4 turbo bins that i can use but i can't go after stock value, i can only go back with multiplier.. any help? bye.

  8. Yup guide here

Yeah your system does not like the me fw meant for someone else.

Basically download the program set and make the same changes to your original me fw dump as the dump you tried.

I've done and it worked, now the reference clock is free until 800mhz[emoji1] BUT.. The maximum I can over clock my reference clock with i5-3360m is only 100.5 mhz, if I go after, the system hangs immediately... Not so funny.. Is it normal? Thanks.

  9. Hi khenglish, can you please help me? I've flashed modded BIOS but i can't overclock at all inside Intel xtu, the sliders are locked with my i5-3360m, I've tried a fresh windows 7 installation and old xtu version, same result.

I' ve bought an i7-3720qm now, maybe it arrive today.. do you think that can solve the problem or not? Is there any guide to customize bios by myself? Cause the O.C. bios give me several problems: E.g. the network card appear to be in conflict and is disabled at every boot.. Thanks!

now i'm trying to overclock 5% more the cpu, i've flashed oc bios but the xtu program can't me do any setting.. what i'm missing?

    thanks.

Try to uninstall xtu if u already have it before flash bio file then restart and install it again.

Now i can move two sliders but I think they are useless: turbo boost power max and turbo boost power max.. Moving them appear to not change nothing..

  11. At the end i've solved, I was using a wrong syntax

the correct is setup_var xxxxxx   modified value   (maybe in the guide can be written a full example for easier reading)

and  sometimes the command need to be sent two times to be taken.

anyway in my system there is no benefit using igpu+egpu, so after some test, i've disabled another time so i can have the signal always on my external screen without additional cables  during booting and bios.

now i'm trying to overclock 5% more the cpu, i've flashed oc bios but the xtu program can't me do any setting.. what i'm missing?

    thanks.
