  1. That's good news. 1: My network adapter gets re-allocated every time I connect my eGPU so it should be ok after couple of seconds. 2: 1.1 link mode is normal when eGPU is in link idle state. You should test stressing it by running a game (add it in your program-list in nvidia control panel -> set the game to use 'high performance graphics'), then TAB out and check GPU-z link state again.
  2. Good to hear dude! @Tech Inferno Fan should be able to answer most of the 'Setup 1.x'-questions. What does your TOLUD show?
  3. Hmm, that's not good, I'm sorry for your loss I think you should return it for a new one since it now doesn't work in your desktop. The only thing I can come up with is that you should check that pci-e power pins are intact on top of the card. To be honest I think there is no problem returning the card.
  4. I can almost assure you that the GPU is not broken. Have you played around with the pci-reset delay on the PE4L? There are two switches: SW1/SW2!
  5. Hmm this sounds like a cool project! For power one could possibly add a 8-pin pci-e female connector to use a 220w Dell D220P, solder some cables for splitting the 3 x 12v lanes inside the case (one for the board and two for the GPU). I'm pitching this for my friend that recently bought a late 2013 macbook pro, let's hope he bites =)
  6. The T_junction of the 2760QM is 5c lower (Tjunc = 100c), which makes me believe it starts throttling even earlier than our 37xx/38xxQM's (Tjunc = 105c), which are showing throttling behavior already @ ~92c.
  7. I can lend you mine, PM me so we can discuss more. Regards, Niclas
  8. Hi Bjorm. I'm don't clearly your logic here, since I have a 1024M benchmark @ ~280s and a physics score @~8500, are you saying my games wouldn't profit from this improvement from my 3820QM? I have to make some BF4 benchmarks (takes a long time to download on my parents 3G/4G connection) and prove you wrong
  9. That sounds reasonable! I'll post a new table later, although the voltage should be correct.
  10. Regarding the TDP: It jumps up and down like crazy so I don't think there be any meaning to it, meaning no accuracy? I'm not sure if you guys have stable TDP when measuring?
  11. Here my contribution for the 3820QM: EDIT: To be honest the TDP pretty much impossible to determine since it jumps up and down like crazy. The Voltage is stable though,
  12. I assume by "2750p" you ment 2570p? Anyway, using a quad core Sandy on the 2570p Ivy Mobo is not a good idea since there seems to be a compatibility issue between the two 'components'. Again, I'm referring to the issue when @bjorm (I think?) put a Sandy quad in his 2570p and resulted in a fried mobo. It would make me sad to see this happen to you as well.
  13. I edited my last post to HD7950, since this seems to be equivalent to GTX660 in Crysis 3 performance. Also, HD76XX is not to be considered since these uses the old VLIW5 .
  14. I quote @Tech Inferno Fan here: "The HD6850 uses the old VLIW5 architecture, not the GCN that a comparable HD7870 would." This architecture difference might be a very important factor to consider, meaning that AMD could yield better performance in an eGPU perspective. If you have a friend using a HD7950 (look here) card that you could re-do this test with we might get our answer. This is really exciting stuff!
  15. I can't recommend swapping CPU from Sandy to Ivy, I've heard stories of faulty motherboards as results.
  16. Np! I will say this now before you jump on the wagon, many times 'setup 1.x' (pre-boot software for eGPU) is necessary in order for the eGPU to be detected correctly. You get the setup 1.x by donating to @Tech Inferno Fan (and it costs $25 if I'm correct?). I'm just saying this since it sounds like you might be short on money and this might be the case later. The PE4L 2.1b-EC is 34mm and fits in both 34mm/54mm slots. There is no performance improvements between the two, only the physical size differs.
  17. Yes, the picture shows a PE4L v2.1b. There will be no use of upgrading the CPU since what I can see you might have the best for your system. I'd go for a PE4L 2.1b -EC and the inexpensive 650ti and give NFS Rivals a go (I'll definitely run smoother), in future you can always move your eGPU to a better system.
  18. First of all according to your system specs. I'd say that you'll never be able to run GTA V at any good FPS, since your CPU is too weak. Your T2370 is on average 1400 points in 3DMark06. You'll need a new laptop/notebook to play GTA V I'm going to try to answer your questions. Regarding the 'b' in PE4L V2.1b, it's the latest revision of the PE4L adapter circuit board (I don't think they sell older versions of v2.1), why are you asking? Your second questions is whether you should buy a PCIe 16x card or not? Yes and no. No, you won't have any benefits of a more powerful card with your current system since your CPU will be the bottleneck. If you keep your system will only be able to play older games and then I'd go for a something inexpensive like a GTX650ti. Yes, If you buy a new laptop/notebook. Then I would recommend getting a GTX670 from eBay, I'm pretty confident I'll will render GTA V in pretty decent frame rates (according to this site they predict GTX480 as reference).
  19. I quote @Tech Inferno Fan : "purchase a PE4L-EC060A 2.1b instead of a PE4H 2.4" He meant that you should buy the PE4L-EC060A for best performance, this will fit into your EC-slot (Expresscard slot).
  20. Ok, my physics score is 8520 with the 3820QM so I seems to be a point using a 45W CPU. I haven't tried BF4 myself yet but when I do I'll apply the 'unparking core fix' to hopefully be able to wake the i7 from 50% usage.
  21. I see, so you're joining the 45W league now =) It seem like the 3740QM @ eBay is around the same price range as the 3630QM?
  22. Hi buddy! Would you mind disabling core parking and redo the tests for your QM? It's a known issue in win7 especially for BF4 atm. This hopefully means that win8 still can go screw itself =)
  23. I've ordered the 5 pieces of 42x42x1mm, so let's make a metal sandwich guys! =)
  24. Hi guys! Do anyone want to change your PE4L-EC100B (or equivalent GEN1 speed adapter) for my PE4L-EC100A (100cm) GEN2 , you will pay the shipping for both ends (can be negotiated). The reason I want this rather strange request is because my workstation only seem to accept GEN1 link speed (GEN2 gives me a lot of problems)... and I have no rights to change BIOS settings, so no setup 1.x can help me. You can PM me if you are interested.
