You can lower multipliers fine with throttlestop or XTU. The problem is raising them, which can only be done in BIOS for this CPU. The x41 is conservative. Mine does x43 stable. The file extension doesn't matter. He uses PM2 for "Prema Mod v2" I think.
Thank you Khenglish.
You & Prema really helped me a lot.
But there are still some question about the BIOS going in my mind.
1. It stated x41 mutiplier (@ all cores right?). Does it include the TDP settings or should I edit my own TDP settings it in XTU right after I flash the corresponding BIOS?
2. How do you flash the bios? Is it the same as how we flash Prema's BIOS? (MEReset followed by the BIOS Flash)
I just need to be careful and not to rush things because right now I'm really excited (LOL).
I know there are chances i'll brick my laptop if i'm being careless about it.

Hello Prema.
I'm currently using an ES 2920XM stepping 5 in my P150EM.
Khenglish kindly sent me the BIOS you made with hardcoded CPU Overclock (multiplier x41 @all 4 core I think here: https://mega.co.nz/#!KJpGASxb!DrNix_UbO5TQgO11bGh6n6OHuk9vdeG4FdLz-D8m1GI )
How can I change the multiplier to x40 x37 x35 x35 ?
And the Bios he sent me is something *.ROM (teuing.ROM)
The BIOS you usually have is *.PM2. Is it safe to rename the extension to .PM2 or I can just flash it with *.ROM extension
Thank you in advance for any kind of help.
Cheers.

I made a special Mod version for Khenglish which uses a very specific CPU microcode to be able to overclock this particular CPU...PM him about it.
Too bad his PM is full.
I hope @Khenglish will see this thread later on.
But as always thank you brother @Prema.
Always love your work esp the BIOS Mod.
Cheers

Could you help me to overclock it?
@Khenglish @EMCWhat revision is the ES? With my stepping 5 I need to flash specific multipliers in the BIOS to overclock.I just got the same Processor Rev with EMC. (got it from eBay very cheap)
I'm unable to overclock it over the stock clock. When turbo, it stays on 3,4 GHz max (but CPU-z says multiplier 8-40 like the way i set it on XTU)
What specific mutiplier you flash Khenglish?
I have P150EM with Prema Mod BIOS.
Cheers

Looking forward to it bro.

just an FYI guys, Clevo card worked perfectly!
Two Dell cards didnt boot. So that's one mystery solved
congratulations bro!
Glad that solved your problem.
Did you have any chance to benchmark it?
-
Well that card says it works in alienware - mine is from alienware.
And according to the picture - mine looks exactly the same except is green board not blue.
I'll try to swap the card - maybe the card was dead. If that wont help, I'll buy the one you linked guys.
Thank you.

I did upgrade to 7970m last week, I think that was the best upgrade possible if you consider only gaming. - performance almost like 675M SLI and temperatures ~10 degrees less than 675M.
I'm now "downgrading" to GTX770M. It should be still pretty much the same, I'm just more fan of nvidia than AMD, and I really need CUDA - using Adobe CS5, not going to upgrade to CS6 just because of OpenCL support.
So I'm willing to sacrifice some of the performance just to stay "green".
I'll post the update when I got it working, probably tomorrow.
Looking forward to it bro!
Cheers!
attend photo and tips, and benchmarkthat would be great too if Bugii can manage the time to do so.
-
I'm sorry if i misunderstood (English is not my mother language)
So to make the 7970M works, you need to set "PCI ROM Priority" option to "Legacy ROM"(instead of "EFI Compatible") ?
Because I remember if NBR some people mention about UEFI BOOT thing set to available to make 7970M works (the UEFI BOOT will appear in BOOT OPTION)
The "Legacy ROM" doesn't have the UEFI BOOT appear in BOOT OPTION
I'm just curious which one is the right option.
EDIT : ah nevermind.
I understand now.
Cheers!

You can order the heatsink fairly easily and the 7970M will still be quite a bit faster.
Yeah I know Meaker.
But I find 7970M + new heatsink would cost a bit more than if I only upgrade to 770M (no need for new heatsink)
Yes the difference is "only" around US$ 150 (50$ difference for the card and 100$ for the heatsink, exclude shipping), but this is a lot of money for me
I just want to keep the budget as low as possible.
Cheers.
PS : That system on your signature is a beast!

I use Everki Beacon Laptop Backpack for everyday commuting (I use motorcycle to campus etc)
Thick soft padding for the laptop and lots of compartement. It has rain cover as well.
Can fit an M18x and a PS3. Lol.
Been using it for more than 18 months.
But you can take a look @ Deuter backpacks.
They are awesome.

awesome rig Xonar
Gotta love that Logitech MX518.
Been with the same mouse for the last couple of years.
This thing is the real deal.
-
@Bugii Would you mind to keep us posted about you upgrading your GT780? (flashing, installing, and I hope benchmarking)
Because we share same laptop type and I think GTX770M is the best possible upgrade (no need to buy heatsink or dremel etc)
Thank you in advance, bro.
Cheers!
@Suoah Thanks man!
I find many of your posts are very helpful.
-
sorry to hear that Suoah.
Hope you better find better replacement

This adapter question is an interesting one
from what I read in other forum, 220watt should be sufficient for you.
And I don't think the adaptor from the link you provide is the right type for msi notebook.
AFAIK the msi laptops use 19v output.
From the same forum, I found some people using a 240Watt Dell adapter for their MSI (the ones with 7970m and extreme processor as well)
I don't understand electricity that much, but from my research, the Dell have 19,5v output.
Is it really working? I don't know. LOL
Maybe @Xonar or other could help
any further explanation would be very appreciated

90+ is quite high for FC3 med-high settings.
I have a GTX570M (different card, but I believe the temps difference wouldn't get too far), in FC 3 mix high-ultra oc'ed the core from 575 to 700 and mem to 1800 only get 82ish
I had replace the thermal paste with arctic cooling mx4 (the standard I recon it would reach 90ish C)
so I really suggest replacing the thermal paste of ur choice.
*sorry for my bad English

I'd say i7 2860QM or 2840QM (ES.. a bit more cheaper) if you can get one

This is quite serious problem.
AFAIK you can replace the BIOS chip with a new one. But this process needs some professional tools and professional people.
Is there any workshop around you capable of doing this (CMIIW this process is called reball)
-
Yes its true and I agree with Brian about it.
Does anybody here tried a memory with 1600mhz DDR3 memory on a GT780DX that did work? I just want to know if it did work on the 2630qm processor
I've found a thread in other forum that is interesting. People who know that I7 2670QM/2630QM works with 1600 RAM at full speed HELP! Screenshots appreciate!
I OC'ed stock 4Gb ram module to 1600, and it works fine. Gonna check 2x4Gb Corsair Vengeance on 1600 tomorrow.GT780dx, i5 2450m.
How did you overclock your ram?
What software do you use?
I got 1400MHz just because I increased the BCLK.

1. If I'm not mistaken, you need the heatsink from a GX660R (because it has a Radeon Graphic card. Its the same AFAIK) or you may mod you current GeForce heatsink
2. There is one person I know successfully upgraded his GT783R to 7970M by modding the heatsink and flashing the Dell vbios
3. I dunno. Luck maybe
4. IDK. Maybe some other people would like to add some more info
PS : you may proceed to this thread

Yes indeed! I forgot that one.
I've read on some other forum saying that you can user m-PCIe slot for the Wifi adapter.
but that would be impractical
-
There's no Express card slot in GT683R.
An external desktop GPU should connected to an Express Car Slot right? (using PE4L or a ViDock)
-
AFAIK it's Radeon 7970M.
It's achievable with modding the GPU heatsink(if you have a GeForce GPU) or ordering the one for GX60 (CMIIW)

I got 105.3 MHz on BCLK (adds around 100ish MHz on processor clock) and OC the GPU (by flashing vbios) core 800 mem 1800 0.90v

So I just need straight to x.bat usually included in Prema BIos Flash?
(afudos P15E1711.PM2 /E /P /B /N /X /SHUTDOWN %1 %2 %3 %4)
No need to do step2.bat in which has:
fpt -f P15E1711.PM2 -me
Am I correct? Of course I will rename the BIOS file to match the batch file.
-Gustav
PS : I am running Prema Mod V2 with FN+9 (K1) EC right now.
Just to make sure.
