Is there a way to restore that EFI partition? Seems like I lost my Backup :(

@Dschijn  the only way I saw to restore EFI partition is to do clean install of the hard drive.

@Light Actually you can't use internal screen on Windows 10 imho but look at other post if there is an upgrade of drivers

Check your device manager.  Even though the device shows up in the list, it may not have a driver loaded.

Yes the device is show as u can see on attach files..

Are you running at stock settings with the GPU, so no overclock? With my overclocked 970 I get in Optimus mode more than 2000 points.

So your results could be right, just seem a bit low.

Maybe the Dual Core CPU of you is affecting the results as well.

I'm running on stock  settings. Today i run the test again and my score is 1046. I attach the CUDA Z and Valley benchmark result.

  3. Hi all,

Now, I do my first eGPU with my setup :

    2015 rMBP 13" with Intel Iris 6100 and 2,7Ghz i5.

My eGPU is an EVGA GTX 950 2go in an Akitio enclosure with  a corsair 430 PSU

My problem is, when I boot in win 8.1 (to have Optimus) everytime I hva a Black Screen or the Windows Boot circle and after 10 minutes a black screen...

Before doing this EFI mod I can boot into win 8.1and I saw my GTX 950 but I can only set Iris 6100 for the internal display

EDIT : I do a clean install of all and I reinstall Os X 10.10 instead of 10.11.2  (to try) I'll install Windows 8.1 via Bootcamp and try to set GTX 950 for my internal screen.
How to see if the eGPU works on internal screen  ? In PhysX ?

(Sry for my bad English... )

  4. @Dschijn thank you, so I have to install Win 8.1 ? My eGPU will not work on OS X without external screen so ?

Sorry for questions, i'm newbie in eGPU.

Edit : I see that I can use my eGPU with OS X with u'r link (Thank you !!! :05.18-flustered: )

I have another question I have my PSU and to power correctly my Akitio I have to make a barrel, so I bought a barrel plug and I have a 2x Molex to 6 pin so I have to cut the 6 Pin cable to plug it into the barrel 2,5x5,5 mm ?

  5. Hi all, today i buy everything i have to use to make my eGPU so I have my enclosure (Akitio Thunder2), my GPU (MSI Nvidia 750TI 2GO OC (the one fan version to fit in the enclosure)) a PSU Corsair modular 450w

and a barrel DC plug to connect to the Akitio.

My question is : when everything is plug in how can I install drivers on OS X El Capitan and enable Optimus ? (I have an rMBP early 2015 13" without dgpu)

  6. @hato1:

You can see some benchmarks of my eGPU compared to my desktop system here: http://forum.techinferno.com/implementation-guides-apple/8571-2014-15-macbook-pro-iris-gtx970%4016gbps-tb2-akitio-thunder2-win8-1-%5Bdschijn%5D.html

You will need the AKiTiO Thunder2, a GPU, a power supply and some cables. Please read my basic guide: http://forum.techinferno.com/apple-egpu-discussion/10061-basic-egpu-hardware-guide-macs.html

With you MacBook you will only be able to use the eGPU power on an external monitor! That will work in OSX (Yosemite and El Capitan are working great), Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

With an external monitor an eGPUs efficiency is between 75-95% which depends on the game and the bandwidth it needs. Some games run worse than on a desktop, some as good as on the desktop PC.

Most cost efficient is any eGPU with a Dell DA-2, AKiTiO Thunder2 and GPU GTX 950, 960 or 970. Bigger cards will need bigger PSUs and might need PC cases to store them in.

    @THOMASRAJA:

Please read the basic guide I linked to hato1. Which MSI card do you want to use? The red one with two fans might be too big!

You basically need a AKiTiO Thunder2, power supply (120W should be fine with 12V or a Dell DA-2) and the GPU. You will also need to make a barrel plug if you use a power supply that doesn't have the plug to connect to the Thunder2.

I wanna use the 1 fan model MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti OCV1 2GB (N750TI-2GD5/OC) : achat / vente Carte graphique sur ldlc.com do u know where I can found a tutorial to make a Barrel ?

I have another question with this can I use my internal Retina screen or I have to plug the e-gpu to an external monitor ? I'm on El Capitan / Windows 8.1 / Windows 10

  7. You'll at least need a power supply as well, either a desktop PSU or Dell DA-2. You will need to be prepared to make modifications to the plugs and case so be sure that's within your skill set. If it's not there are some pre-made kits for sale if you search the right places.

Check out Dschijn's buying guide for a very detailed description of what you will need to consider: http://forum.techinferno.com/apple-egpu-discussion/10061-basic-egpu-hardware-guide-macs.html

Yeah thank u man, dunno what is better to use ? A desktop PSU or Dell DA-2 ? Have u got feebacks ?
