Thought so... how much of a change does it allow?
Haven't checked yet. I need to figure a way to change the settings without changing the level of OC
-
did you use wprime 1.55 or a different version?
Yep that's the one
@Aikimox Is it possible to obtain the dual piped heatsink aftermarket? And if so, how?I tried getting it from DELL but was told that it's not available for separate purchase yet.

Flex VID is the voltage

Wow, if you disable TB and up the multi's the CPU benches drop a bit but the temps drop by 20-25C across the board. Finished the 1024 run in 360sec but never got above 75C. Screw the boost I say, if I can keep the multi's high enough and control the temps....hmmm

yes, they come with dual piped HS.
-
Stock clocks, temps are 3C higher than on 2630QM on average (at load). Idle temps are the same. Wprime 1024 - 313sec. slightly better than the 2820QM.
Trying Level 3 - ....
Ok, so the single piped HS is a no go at lvl 3 - hitting 97C in wprime 1024. Will see if I can keep the core multipliers but disable TB...

I will get back to you as soon as I can. Just let me finish stability/stress testing and we will proceed.

Here you go
Now, if someone can guide the newbie on how to OC' this CPU, it'll be greatly appreciated

Ok guys, got the CPU in my M18x - so far so good. I can see the multipliers in the BIOS! Will mess with it a bit later on, gotta run. BTW, temps are well within norm.

It may not be faster but it won't be slower for sure and will cost less

It's official, the card can now be preordered - ETA 25th of July!
MAP price = 59.99$ Even though Fortnax is one of the first in line to get these cards, the initial supplies will be very limited, so it's FIFO and max 2 per customer.
The card can now be preordered here.

Awesome review, Guys! Sorry to hear about your M18x, Brian. I know how bad it feels when the best system is paired with the worst support experience.
-
Mine is already in KY, hoping for tomorrow
-
Yeah, as soon as we get it, I can do some testing.
-
The mod is in progress, hopefully it won't take too long to finish.

Will let you know

Yep, except that I didn't use any alcohol, just a thin steel measuring stick, lol. You have to be very careful though as the E2E on M18x is thinner and easily cracked. It only took me one hour and hadn't I rushed at the final 5-6cm the E2E would be safe. But I was too rushy and pulled it too fast - > ***snap**

Of course. I'll make a custom bezel. Speedy offered to make an aluminum one and cover it with carbon fiber vinyl wrap
-
Yeah, if I needed the absolute mobile power, would pick the x7200. But am also into good keyboards and style, so M18x all the way
-
All very good valid points really are but if it was up to me i would own both lol it's great for people who want the ultimate photoshop/graphic designers the hardcore ones too who don't have the room for it lol. But yeah the M18x owns the X7200 horrible designs they have, but always great cooling and extreme more opening for different graphic cards. Aikimox how are you doing, What's new?
Hey Bro! If you are deciding between the M18x and M6600, go for the AW you won't regret it. After removing the glass cover the screen is anti glare and quite a decent quality I must say. The M6600 is a solid machine but you will miss the sheer power, sound system and adamantite feel of the M18x.
Does anybody know what clocks an X7200 with a 990X can maintain on prime95?Actually, if you undervolt it you can stay under 70c during Prime95 and 3.6 on all cores. Benches scores will be negligibly lower.

I have a few urgent projects to keep me busy for a couple of weeks and after that I can do the benches. Quite a few our customers are present on these boards and they can test the card if they have the time. So far we have seen only positive feedbacks, people getting faster file transfers in LANs compared to the 6300. They didn't do any tweaks for the Intel card so I think things could be different.

After removing the Edge-to-Edge glass cover from my beast today, I was surprised to discover the anti glare screen behind it! No graininess and no reflections!
I cracked and scratched the E2E glass in the process but it was well worth the trouble since am not going to need it anyway. Finally an AW machine where I don't have to look at my face reflection all day, lol!

1103 is not available yet and will only appear in a couple of months. Meanwhile, I'm really happy with the 1102 on my machine. My business video calls via skype are much more stable and smooth.

The problem is that you can't properly attach the copper shin to the heatsink, there is always some air between the copper and the heatsink, which is really insulating.
Why did you remove the thermal pads? And which temps dropped? Usually the gap between the memory and the heatsink is about 0.5-1.0mm, and this too big for a proper use of thermal paste. Pads are the best way to go imo, you only have to be careful that the pads are compressible and not too thick, because this will increase the gap between the die and the heatsink.
I did the same, - pasted the memory chips with TX-4. Had to apply a very thick layer on the chips but it was well worth it - 10-20C drop across the board. Pads are no longer a good solution for GDDR5 the way I see it.
