Yeah, it's the second card I'm having issues with.

I'm thinking I should wipe the BIOS chip, is it the same pinout as the desktop cards, short pin 3 to 8?

I used ATIFlash, I tried forcing the flash with "atiflash -f -newbios -p 1 new.rom" but still no luck. When I get home tonight I'll pull a log of the flash. Thanks for your help.

Well my problem is that I can't flash the chip, every time I try to write I get a "Write fail" and "ERROR 0FL01" error. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know what BIOS chip the Dell 7970M utilizes? I've got a card with a swapped chip and I need to get a replacement. Also how does one change the ASIC ID, is that part of the vBIOS. Mine shows up as Tahiti...

Well, don't take it so bad... I have basic knowledge about bios and vbios operations, and it's true that the few lasts i've made were directly in windows... plus, it's been a while I havn't played with atiflash !!!
Be understanding with me
But you learned me something : i didn't know that a bios chip would react the same way whatever the size (or at least smaller). One of the parameters I've always checked was the file size.
To come back on the topic, it's a dead end upgrade, or at least with a dell card. Thanks again for your help.
Perhaps, I still have a doubt on the fully fonctionnal out display of this card... I will test it this week in a dell system to garantee it's ok, and then sell it or exchange it with a clevo/eurocom/sager one...
If you've still got the Dell card I have a Eurocom I'd be willing to trade, I've got an M18x and I can't seem to get the HDMI working.

I apologize for bringing this thread back from the dead, but is there any possibility for a pencil mod?

@Mr. Fox
How much did the I/O board run you? Did you get it through Dell? I've done the same conversion but I haven't found the I/O board yet so I'm just running without it.
