I actually have windows 7 64 bit with 8gb of ram and the GDC beast but it is not working at all..
Can you guys recommend a windows version that will most likely work with the GDC beast?
-
I followed the guide and everything looks good in device manager...
pb is that when i connect the eGPU and boot, I get a BSOD... the screen goes out too quick, I can't note that error is displayed.
Any idea??

Guys I have windows 7 64bit and when I "click" Chainloader (set to MBR, mbr2 does not work) --> "Test run" ... it does not boot to win7 direclty but I get the boot selection screen again showing me my windows 7 entry + my DIY eGPU entry... is this normal?
When I watch this video :
, I see that when he "clicks" on chainloader --> "Test run", it boots directly to windows 10

I managed to g et large memory to appear but when i boot with Exp Gdc beast connected..i get a bsod a few seconds after the windows logo appears. I am on win7 64bit...any idea?
The bsod disappears too quick (restarts) I cant read what is on it

I have followed the guide and got no errors but in device manager I don't see "Large memory" section.. that means I failed somewhere?
in my dsdt.dsl header, there is

My HP dv4 has a mPCIE slot but I don't know if it is whitelisted or not.. asked in the main eGPU experience thread but no one replied, so I guess there's no method in finding out if your slot is whitelisted or not.
So I am going to buy the GDC beast and try... but wanna know how hard is it to unlock it in case my slot is actually whitelisted?

Honesty you're comparing PCIe to mPCIe, so most egpu adapters should work with mPCIe (the one you have). But keep in your mind, you won't be able to connect to wifi. You should able to use USB wifi adapter to connect to your internet (I bought NetGear A6200 refurbished and it's pretty nice plus it's cheap). Also, I won't guarantee you will successfully use your egpu in your laptop due to mPCIe whitelist (some companies block the connection from your egpu adapter to mPCIe port). You need to do some research on your laptop whether if it is whitelisted or not. Also, I recommend donating to Nando for 1.30v egpu setup because this will virtually eliminate the problem of whitelist and ability to handle your egpu crash (it happens in my game all of the time lol). You can pay him for $25 and I strongly you should get one if you needed one.
Also I have my picture of mPCIe so you would know your egpu adapter should able to work.
PLEASE NOTE: you need to find out youinr laptop is whitelisted or not!!
Thx for your reply. How do I find out if my mPcie port is whilelisted? What is Nando setup? It costs only $25? Was thinking about buying the Gdc Beast which is a little more expensive at $35

Your mpcie looks very similar to mine, I doubt this will definitely work.
-------------------------------------
Also I managed to convert my gpt into mbr through this video
By installing rufus program and windows copy in your usb, this will highly guarantee to make your pc to recognize mbr partition format. Last time, I didn't used this software and my pc hardly recognize my mbr partition set from hdd. [This specified drive is not convertible...] For anyone who is having really hard time trying to convert gpt to mbr, this video might work well for you.
You are saying it is going to work? Or it will not? What adapters are compatible?

It's just probably still the bad USB port in general, all versions of EXP GDC had it. It's just not safe to stick anything out there as far as I've been reading about it. It's best not to use it. had no idea this issue is still the case in V8.
you the usb port on the GDC or usb ports on the laptop??
http://www.gearbest.com/laptop-accessories/pp_229101.html
is this the latest version? Is there any safety issues with the GDC? I dunno .. electrical issues like fire, burning the GPU stuff like this or it is perfectly safe or at least as safe as the PE4 adapters?

there are so many adapters... what are the difference between them? PE4C, PE4H, PE4L etc... i am confusedI think the PE4C v3 is the latest model? i see one end is soldered to the adapter... and my laptop's miniPCIe slot is found under my keyboard.. that means that I have to open my laptop each time I want to use the eGPU?
can i use a miniPCIe extender?

I have an old laptop hp dv4 with the following specs:

I have a eVGA Geforce GTX 750 TI FTW Edition which I am not using as my desktop "gaming" pc broke.
I was wondering if it is worth the cost using a eGPU solution for my laptop? how will be performance with these specs.
and what adapter is most suited for my specs? PE4C, PE4H, PE4L (I have no idea what's the different between them) or the EXP GDC v8??
Find attached photo of my wifi card inserted in my mPCIe slot.. I don't know if my mPCIe slot is compatible for eGpu?? how to find out??

Another annoying aspect to consider is that my mini pcie is found under my keyboard (it's according the manual.... I have not opened it yet to verify if it is really a mini pcie hosting my wifi card).
And my laptop has switchable graphics... not sure if this affects compatibility?

Dschijn, thanks for clarifying the questions, now I realize it would be much wiser to build a pc from scratch. Thank you!

Hi guys,
I am about to pull the trigger on this $1k+ build - can someone please confirm that this will actually work together?
Planning to use it with rMBP-15" 2014 (GT750M) hooked to external display (currently torn between XR34CKA that is not yet available, xb280hk and XB27HU, leaning towards 34 inch though).

Advice on a wanted eGPU setup
Hi, I'm not well versed when it comes to building computers but I'm in dire need of faster graphics & I don’t want to upgrade my laptop just yet. I plan on using an eGPU to a LED Backlit Professional IPS LCD Display so I can run color correction software at a manageable speed.
My setup (I Already own)
Computer:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)
Processor: 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Monitor:
HP Dreamcolor Z24X
eGPU: (Haven’t used it yet just bought it online during a sale)
GEFORCE GTX 770
eGPU Requirements:
-PCI express-compliant motherboard with one dual-width x16 graphics slot
-One 6-pin & one 8-pin supplementary power connector
-Minimum 600 W or greater system power supply (with a minimum 12V current rating of 42A)
The questions I have are as follows:
- What else do I need to make this work?
- Can someone suggest a decent power supply that would work?
- Do I NEED a chassis of some sort or can I make this work without one?
- If I don’t need one, along with what I already have, could the setup listed below work?
1. Express card: Echo ExpressCard Pro Thunderbolt Adapter & SxS Media Reader
2. Thunderbolt cable
3. Power supply: Anything larger than 600W & has a 6 and 8 pin power connector
4. Adaptor: Bplus PE4L-EC060A : Convert PCI Express 1x add-on Card to ExpressCard slot
Any help, advice, links would be hugely appreciated. I’m at a point where I THINK I know what to buy to make this work but I haven’t been able to find enough evidence online that supports the doubts I am having. Thanks!

You will need:
- AKiTiO Thunder2 (because I am not familiar with an Express card setup)
- Any PSU with the specs you listed
- GPU
- barrel plug mod to power the AKiTiO from the bigger PSU
That setup can be placed "naked" on the table if you can make sure that nothing is moving or damaging it.
Edit:
That list seems good. But you are missing one important (but controversial) part: a flex riser. Problem would be to get a high quality one to avoid problems:

Lightbulb ASUS ROG G73JW + eGPU. Need advice.
Hello.
I have a ASUS ROG G73JW 2010 with the following characteristics:
740Q i7 first generation to 1.73GHz
8GB DDR3 RAM
Removable internal GTX460M graphics.
Connection available MPCI
External monitor 22 ", my laptop does not have its own screen set, broke and this without her.
I would like to add a EGPU the team and improve the graphic quality of it, but I have some doubts that I can not clarify
1. Is there any objection to putting a EGPU with a GTX 460M removable?
2- AMD or NVIDIA for this notebook? I would like a graph of around 120€ type R7 360 or GTX 750ti, what brand to choose and why?
I know I need the PCI-E x16 adapter MPCI, one external ATX power supply and a graph, but I want to be sure that this will work smoothly on my computer.
Thank you very much, greetings.

eGPU on Hp DV4 with eVGA Geforce GTX 750 TI FTW Edition? worth it?
I have an old laptop hp dv4 with the following specs:
Intel core i5-2410M 2.3GHZ
4GB of ram DDR3 (will soon upgrade to 8GB if necessary)
I have a eVGA Geforce GTX 750 TI FTW Edition which I am not using as my desktop "gaming" pc broke.

And my laptop has switchable graphics... not sure if this affects compatibility?

The mPCIe slot should be right next to your HDD where your wireless card is seated.
Look carefully one more time and you should see two white cables that are connecting to the wireless card.
did not find it; I opened the HDD back "enclosure"/"cover" .. maybe I need to remove the back of the laptop completely?
-
I have the pavillon dv4-3006TX but I can'y find the mPCI express slot ... opened 2 "lids" at the back .. but found only the rams and HDD
Any idea where it can be found? wanna try an eGPU solution on it

Yes, EXP GDC has had reports of Gen2 signal issues. My experience finding the Gen2 compliance is in order (best to worst): PE4L 2.1b > PE4C V2.1 > EXP GDC V6.
If want to take a chance then consider that Setup 1.30 software can be used to downgrade the signal to Gen1 if have problems with the EXP GDC adapter: http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/2123-diy-egpu-setup-1-30-a.html
do you mean I will need to downgrade it? older version works better?

Hi,
I have 2 partitions: on partition C and E.
I have my windows 7 x64 on C and installed setup 1.3 on it... but my eGpu is not working (error 43 even with DSDT override).
So I decided to install another fresh windows 7 x64 on E. I uninstalled setup 1.3 on C and installed it on E
But when I chainload setup 1.3 (tried with all options possible: MBR, MBR2, bootmgr), I get an error if I boot the windows that is on E.
I get "Windows failed to start.....a required device isn't connected or can't be access"
any clue?
