I can say one thing that import taxes are not anything seller will know that you will be charged or not or even how much of the charging cost.

Actually in my country the same item can be charged with different cost or sometimes never been charged at all.

And I believe in most website there are always state "The seller will not take responsibility for the taxes" before buyers click buy button.

@errin the problem isn't with the customs, but with the shipment, since BPlus didn't send the item to my near postal service and I go there where customs exist and I pay them. They send it to an airport and then DHL "force" you to pay them extra fees for the transit since you can't come 400 km to pay the customs yourself. The product is locked in your same country but in another city, and you must pay extra shipment and handling for getting the product near you. And, as a buyer I think it's not your responsibility, the contract mention the adress exactly and also the seller is the one who choosed the mailing service. (I already bought from internet with the products arriving to my city and then I pay the customs)

Now I paid it all and it's difficult to resend it all and wait additionnal time, you know I want this product just for fun, gaming and for gpu based 3d software like lumion, and it will consume me more time to resend it and all...

I only wanted to share this because I felt misinformed, and mainly because I got no response from them. So if someone want to buy this product it would be recommended to discuss it all with them because there are surprises for the shipment cost (not the customs one) not said int he beginning.

The thing is that when I read our contract for payment, It was CLEARLY mentioned that the shipment adress is X and the total cost for the shipment to this adress is X. I'm not forced to be a guru of DHL manners to know that the contract isn't what it's written. I understand for the custom taxes, but for DHL it's not my problem, it's the seller who made a contract so I can receive my product to my exact adress for 23 Dollars, now if the shipment arrive to another city and I must go there with additionnal cost or pay DHL so they bring it to me, I'm sorry but this is a SCAM and stolen money. Transactions must be clear and me as a buyer I have the right to be protected.

BPLUS should say to me : HEY look we can't get the parcel to youy shipment adress, we only send it to a far city for this cost, and then I can give them the green light OR NOT. Or am I wrong ?? isn't this an abuse ?!

I received the PE4C 2.1 with EC cable and one additional mPCI-e cable for trying double lane.

I haven't already bought the graphic card since I want to test it with some graphic card loaned from someone before investing on a GTX970.

but not all news are good news PAY ATTENTION TO THE TOTAL COST The egpu costed me around 250 DOLLARS !!!

So please BE AWARE, if myself did knew about the extra coste of the hole thing I would never purchased this egpu. Because with the additionnal transit taxes that the DHL (wich seller chooses) imposes and if you add the customs taxes... for me it would be better idea to add an extra GAMING DESKTOP.

Now ? what's to do.. I am already got on the tramp, so no choice but continuing to try this setup...

I will inform you from my evolution.

N.B : I contacted Bplus questioning them why they did'n't speak of the additional DHL costs, and why they didn't give me the choice with another mailing service and that I feel misinformed I got NO REPLY. I am considering to open a dispute on paypal, any advice ?

I ordered the PE4C 2.1 with EC2, and another mPCI-e connections from hwtools 3 days ago. The total amount is (60 + 20) + 23 dollars for shipment via DHL. Now the package is on the central hub in Casablanca and tomorrow evening they say I will receive it in my city.

All is good until now, the delivery time is fast. But there is a problem, the DHL guys said to me by phone that I must pay some extra fees (frais de transit) in french. They said that I must to send them an engagement with my DNI via email in which I assure I will pay those extra fees and the customs fees once I receive the package ?! It's okay for the customs fees which is by the law some 20 or 25 % of the value of this type of product, which makes the total amount jump to some 125 dollars. But take that : THE EXTRA FEES OF DHL ARE ABOUT 60 DOLLARS ???!! I mean WTF ?

Now the global price of the PE4C 2.1 and one additional cable mPCIe with that DHL which hwtools chooses is 185 Dollars ?? This is really far from being a good deal, I feel stolen and disappointed, wonder if it's the hwtools fault not communicating and speaking about that extra fees that I didn't knew from the beginning, or what ?

Note that hwtools imposed to me this mode of shipment with this company, and I never expressed my desire of getting anything super fast... Can I open a dispute in paypal about this ?

Time to buy a GTX970 and a PSU, I will keep you with the news once the package arrive !

I verified my tolud which is 3.25GB. If I plan to use "2x 2.0" do I need more free memory or It will be okay with this tolud size ?

Another concern, if using external screen there is an added performance with "1.xOpt" in comparison with simple "1x EC2" ?

In the FAQ og 1.3 setup it says :

Now in my m4700 I want to use 1 x 2.0 with my expresscard or maybe 2 x 2.0 with double link,so I'm confused :

- when is says "want to set pci-e 2.0 linek speed on series-6 or higher" does this mean that if I want 2.0 connections using pe4c I must use 1.3 setup ?

Another thing I wish I get clear about it, the 1.3 setup is only requiered when we want to use internal screen and it isn't required if we use external sceen ? and same question about the memory problem and dsdt override ?

Should be pretty straight forward. However I'll mention that if you are technically minded then it might be possible to get a x2 2.0 link from your M4700. Check your port listing by swapping the wifi card into unused mPCIe ports and build a list. If you have mPCIe+mPCIe or EC+mPCIe port that is either [port1+2], [port3+4], [port5+6] or [port7+8] then it's possible to modify the FE FW to run the appropriate odd port in x2 2.0 mode. You'd need a PE4C V2.1 eGPU adapter to be able to do this with, running two cables to your system.

Indeed I learned about that, I must have two ports which are closest to each other, but in fact if I moved to this thread of pe4l it's because I read your thread about the pe4c in details, and I saw that it's faulty and there is problems with cables that are not soldered, and people that was not satisfied ? So how is it right now ?

Wonder if anyone tried the pe4l experience with Dell m4700 workstation with Nvidia k200m dGPU and hd4000 iGPU ?

I have an external screen, so it doesn't bother me to play always on the external screen.

Do you think the x1 2.0 mode is efficient ? should I go for an AMD or an Nvidia, I will choose between R9 280 and 960 (or R9 290 / or GTX970) it will depend on the global budget.

Another question guys, How much of the performance could one get with the pe4l solution ? I wonder if there is a real comparisons between performances of cards on desktop and with egpu since I think if one will spend half the price of a desktop on a good video card to get far results from video card with less price but mounted on a pc, it will not be interesting ?

My specs are : i7 3840QM, Ram : 16GB, dGPU : Nvidia Quadro K2000M , iGPU : HD4000. Optimus can be disabled from Bios, and is actually disabled on my usual use of the laptop..

I'm new to this forum, I am architecte and I use Dell M4700 with i7 3840QM 2.8 Ghz processor, 16 GB of Ram, equiped with Nvidia K2000M in my work. I mostly use 3ds max, Archicad, Autocad etc..

The thing is that I like gaming on my free time, and I couldn't buy a Rog or Allienware pc since they're gaming laptops but no efficient workstations for CAD work.

So I searched on google and I dound this forum which is rich on information about eGPU, and I wonder if someone here can help me about my question :

- Can PE4H work on my laptop ? (I have ExpressCard 2.0)

- If it works is there any limitation concerning the Video card ? I mean, I hope I can use "Asus Mars 760 x2" or a "GTX 970" with this PE4H adaptor.. Can this work ?

I hope you can help me guys; since I don't want to buy stuff from internet which costs and then it won't work.
