  1. Thank you so much, I will either find someone who solders the cables for me or use the screw terminals :-)
  2. Thanks Dschijn, so the best solution is to use 2 molex plugs from my psu and solder or screw the cables to a barrel plug which goes into the akito powerconnector right?
  3. Hi Guys, I´ve a short question regarding the electricity part of my new egpu setup, which way to power the akitio thunderbolt 2 is better? Barrelplug or PCIE Extender with molex plug? Currently I´m using the PCIE-Extender Setup with one molex plug to my powersupply, is it better to power the system with the old dell network and the graficscard with the normal psu? Or could there be a problem as I´m using 2 different powersources? I´m not really familiar with electrical problems and haven´t soldered cables so far^^ basically I´m searching for the easiest solution to power a gtx 980 ti. So which solution is better and why? Thanks in advance for your help and best regards Daniel
  4. Hi Guys, will it be possible to use an AMD Graphics-Card as EGPU if my macbook has an implemented gt 750m? Should this work after i disabled my gt 750m in device manager? Are there any EGPU worklogs with the new Fury X or Fury Cards? Thanks in advance Best regards Daniel
  5. Hi, i´ve tried it without success, after I´ve installed the optimus dmg on my efi-partition I only get an black screen with the white cursor when booting windows. I also tried this graphics changer script without any success, it does nothing on my windows 8.1 x64, I´ve started it as administrator. On Macbook Pro Mid 2014 with GT 750m. Best regards Daniel
  6. Hi Eeevan, sorry for the late response, at the moment i´m on vacation :-D I will check this as soon as I´m back at home, probably Tuesday, are the changes on the eft-partition fully revertible? How can I check if Optimus is working fine? Best regards Verizon
  7. Oh yes that's true :-) I like this egpu thing performance is awfull just sitting here smiling :-D
  8. I´ve one question regarding this pci-e scaling thing, why is the performance difference between the higher resolutions not so geat than the one with the lower resolutions? So basically on 4k the performance difference is 5% and on FullHD 13%? Should higher resolution not transfer more data over the thunderbolt port?
  9. Hmm looks interesting, maybe i´ll have a look at the guide where i can only enable the intel hd5200 with my macbook and than try this one :-) i´ve one last question regarding thunderbolt capabilities on the macbook are both ports connected to the same pciebus so does this mean that both ports share the bandwith or do i´ve 16gbps per port?
  10. ok thanks for your help :-) if searched for the wrong keywords ^^ is sli a possibility with egpu´s? because than i would go to the cheaper gtx 980s :-D
  11. so this means i get apporoximiatly 90% performance of any card, so even when i go with a titan z or an amd r9 295x2 right? so what matters is raw performance of the card right? so there´s no problem by the bandwith of thunderbolt it self, do i get this right? so basically if i go with a card with lets say 8 cores and 96gb of ram it will also have the 90% performance of the desktop equivalent right? (just theoretically) :-D sorry but i´m not really familiar with this pci-e bandwith topic and how it affects performance, i only know the benchmarks showing pci-e 1.0 2.0 3.0 with x1 x4 x8 and x16 but don´t have any ideas where thunderbolt 2 will be in this benchmark? i assume it should be like pci-e 2.0 x8 is this correct?
  12. Hi, hmm I´m not quit sure if i should go with an classi, but i don´t want to go with an gtx 970 because of the memory issue.... playing on 3 or 2 screens must of the time :-) which card would you suggest for egpu? Do you think the thunderbolt connection will limit the classi more than a normal card? Or let me say it this way do you thinkt that oc will have any effect on the performance because of the thunderbolt connection limiting?
  13. Hi, now i´m using my gtx 970 about 1,5 ghz will go to the gtx 980 classified as far as i can go so hopefully at least even so 1,5 ghz or beyond that :-) if testet the gtx 970 yesterday on furmark without any problems should i go with 3d mark to test it? or which test tool should work the best?
  14. Hi Guys, i´ve managed yesterday to get my egpu working, thanks for all your support. Will exchange my gtx 970 to a gtx 980 because of the memory issue. Does the Akito power-supply provide enough power to use the gtx 980 with the 2 pcie power plugs from my powersupply? Or do I´ve to mod akito or use an pcie riser with power plug? Will overclock the gtx 980 baddly :-) which one will the best way to go? Best regards Verizon

  22. Hi Guys, first of all thank you so much for your hard work to let this eGPU happening :-D I´ve to say that I´ve only theoretical experience with eGPU but planning my build now. I would like to know where exactly is the differents between this 2 models regarding eGPU. When I use GT 750 will it be possible to drive the internal LCD with an eGPU? Or do I´ve to hook up an external LCD? And if I hook up an LCD can I disable the internal LCD? When I go with the Iris Pro will it be possible to hook up an LCD on the eGPU? And will I be able to play on the external LCD in fullscreen? I´ve read allready nearly any WIP post on this forum but can´t came up with an solution. Can you please clarify? Thank you very much in advance. Best regards Verizon
