  1. Will I have enouth with the PSU I have with 220W for the 3740QM and GTX 980M?

The mobile GPUs still dont support Adaptive Sync? I wanted to buy a GSYNC monitor.

You may get away 220w - only way to tell is to try. Every machine acts differently (esp when overclocking). Other wise just get a 300/330w supply.

As for Gsync on Clevo, we don't know (props not).

  2. Thank you so much.

It's hard to decide when the 970m cost much less...but what an amazing card the 980M. I'm impressed.

    Last two questions :

    1) Do you know if my cpu 3740QM will be enouth for the 980M?

    2) Can I overclock with the power adaptor that comes with the P170EM?

    3) Should I get a 1080p monitor or a 2K/4K with Gsync for the 980M? Native resolution is always best and maybe 2K/4K is too much for the 980m.

I've got a P370EM with the same processor and a 980M installed running a stock 300 watt power brick. Not had any problems with over clocking processor and GFX.

Not sure if you can run a Gsync monitor with Clevo's.

  3. I guess you thank me for reporting a successful flashing. But I don't deserve to be thanked for that Prema. You're the only one who deserves it ;)

Anyway, I'm about to sell my old P170EM to my brother (Clevo P170EM, i7-3840QM, 32Gb Corsair Vengeance, GTX 680M, SSD Crucial mSATA M4 256Gb, 2x HGST Travelstar 7K1000 1Tb 7200rpm, Samsung SN-506 Bluray writer, WiFi Intel 6235) to my brother. But before that, I want to flash it with your mod. But I'm a little confused about which one I have to choose : when I have my hands on the keyboard, the Windows key is under my left hand, so I guess I have to choose the alternative keyboard version. But what is the difference between v2 and v2 2T version ? There's nothing in the changelog about it, neither in the readme.txt files included in the archives. Thanks a lot to anyone who can explain this to a noob with your mods :D

The V2 has the Ram timing set at T1 which makes the machine a bit snappier . The V2 2T has the Ram timing set at T2 which is for machines that are unstable at the T1 memory timings or your trying to run memory above 1600mhz (XTU).

Best to flash the V2 and test, if you have no random crashes or other memory issues, your done. If you have issues just flash the T2.

  4. I want to upgrade my P570WM with mSATA, but I didn't see the mSATA socket soldered onto the motherboard. Is that possible, or am I looking at the wrong place?

According to the photos it should be under the keyboard in the top left area:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/attachments/wp_20150127_15_55_25_pro-jpg.120329/

I don't see anything there, not even a socket:

    http://www.sfvogt.de/CLEVO_P570WMx/mSATA_MB_R1.jpg

    Does anyone have some advice?

Even if there was a socket there, someone would have to solder capacitors?

    **Official Clevo P570WM | P570WM3 / Sager NP9570 Owners Lounge** | Page 99 | NotebookReview

How configurator companies (not all of them though!) offered mSATA? Did they solder capacitors in their shop? Mine's origin is from Pro-Star.

How many versions does P570WM has? (Besides 3D and non 3D). How does Sager NP9570 differ from Clevo P570WM?

    So many questions!

mSATA drivers are almost half price compared to regular ones, and I wouldn't really care about the fact that they'd run on SATA II channel (lower theoretical speed than SATA III).

    THX!

I've got 2 P570WM's and they don't have MSATA Slots.

Reading that thread you posted is referring to a user that has modded his P570WM, it appears you could add a MSATA slot if your skilled with a soldering iron, the connections are their for one.

Does make you wonder why Clevo didn't fit it.

As Mr Fox has said I too have never seen a P570WM with a slot and I've seen about a dozen of them from various system builders

  5. So installed prema's bios from his site

The bios still requires an inf mod or the modded drivers to work so that part isnt done yet.

It did however give me an extra 126marks in firestrike :Banane09:

will update with more as I investigate

I stand corrected, you are right about the modded driver.

I just installed a 970m in a P370EM for a friend and yes, needed a modded driver. When I did my machine I must have installed a modded driver and didn't notice that I had.

  6. By my understanding as the PxxxEM series runs 970/980 gpus, the vbios is a fix for throttling/driver/tweaks etc.

The bios mod update is meant to bring the use of 7xx/8xx gpus to the EM series and will require both bios and vbios to be flashed. There is no news as of yet of release versions of bios/vbios.

As for finished, i'd say no. He's one of those people thats aways tweaking away and his mods do tend to be updated.

  7. The 970/980 Gpu's will work in a P370EM without the bios mod, however the Vbios mod saves you having to edit the driver inf and fixes a few of the card issues like the throttling and adds some other features.

The reason to flash his machine bios is much for the same reasons, fixes a few things like getting memory to run in T1 state and adds turbo fan mode.

  8. To get the most out of the P370EM with a 970M to work you'll need to flash Prema's P370EM bios and his 970M vbios (Available at his site https://biosmods.wordpress.com/ ).

Both need to be done in dos. Read the Instructions on the site for flashing the machine (can be a bit hair raising Clevo's have a bit of a odd bios upgrade system).

As for OS, I have installed Win7, Win8 and Win10 with no issues.

Done mine a week ago took 10mins in all (took longer to make the bootable dos flash drive).

  9. Need to replace the keyboard on a P570WM - I have been informed the keyboards for the P170/P370EM's will fit, however my supplier only has the newer keyboards with the Windows key on the right of the keyboard and not the left like the old keyboard.

So the question is if I fit a right-handed Windows key keyboard will the key function as a the Windows key or will it be mapped as the FN key ?

    Anybody know?
