  1. after upgrade to gtx980m sli and with my display is 60hz if i upgrade it to 120hz can it work? although the 3D will not work at least the fresh rate is 120Hz and when VSync enable it's not hold at 60, will it work like that?

or the system will not boot?

    thank you

If I remember correctly the P370EM will only work at 60hz, fitting a 120hz screen is unlikely as uses a different connector on the motherboard (50pin for 3D and 40pin for 2D).

I also seem to remember some P370EM were fitted with both connectors (50 and 40 pins) in which case you would need to flash a 3D bios as well. You would need to check if you have a dual connector board.

  2. I started having issues with my bluetooth as well (still on win 7 64 bits though). A few things to try that have helped me:

    1) Check in Device Manager to see if you have bluetooth device listed. If not, run a scan for new hardware changes to see in Win10 recognizes the bluetooth at all.

    2) If you have the device shown with a yellow exclamation mark (Likely with error 43 in the device status when checking the properties) try uninstalling then scan for new hardware changes. Windows should install the MS drivers. Then try re-installing the intel bluetooth drivers.

    3) Make sure Bluetooth Support Service is set to automatic and started in Services. In my case, for some reason this was off and bluetooth would never get started on boot-up.

    4) Run an elevated command prompt (cmd run as administrator) and type sfc /scannow. In my case this was needed to clear the bluetooth driver issue and it is now working fine for me (I have the dual-band Intel AC7260 in my system)

Let us know if this solves the issue. I'm waiting a bit before upgrading to Win10 but it's good to know if basic functionality that I need will remain.

Had tried everything you suggested and still no joy. However have now got it working. Ended up uninstalling the drivers for the WiFi/BT card, shutting down the machine. Removing the card, restarted Windows, then shutdown the machine again then put the card back in and restarting. This time Windows 10 picked up the WiFi/BT and installed its basic drivers then installed the Intel drivers. Everything working as it should so a happy bunny now.

  3. P570WM/980M in SLi. In place upgrade from Windows 7. Only a couple of slight issues, manly with Hotkey app..Can't turn on the Bluetooth (either in Hotkey or Windows) and the Hotkey for WiFi switching has no effect either on or off thou can be turned on/off within Windows.

The hardware indicator lights for BT and WiFi stay lit regardless if on or off under Windows 7 they would switch on and off.

And when you change the keyboard colours, the keyboard graphic/area selector is oversized, you need scroll the screen to exit the setting app.

Hotkey 6.0100 for Windows 7 also have tried Hotkey 8.0153 for Windows 8 both do the same thing.

Other than that everything else works just fine and Windows 10 is way better than 8, thou I really hate the flat look everything has and those spud ugly icons.

UPDATE: Even after a fresh clean install still cant get bluetooth to work (Intel 6235 with Intels Windows 10 drivers).

  4. Thought I would create this thread for all Clevo users that have or are about to upgrade to Windows 10.

Please report back on an issues and solutions you may have with Windows 10.

Include details on your Clevo model, GFX cards and which version on Windows 10 you are running (Home, Pro, Ent, 32bit or 64bit), fresh install or upgrade (from what version of Windows).

  5. Looks like you are flashing in windows try creating a bootable DOS USB Flash drive and flash that way.

You can use Rufus to create a MS-DOS bootable usb drive. Just make sure the option (Create a bootable disk using " is set to MS-DOS.

Extract your flash files to the newly created DOS usb drive, then boot your machine. Press F7 at machine startup and select the USB device. Then follow the instructions included in the Vbios.

Hopefully you'll be able to flash a working Vbios.

  6. Liquid ultra/pro is best suited to CPU (CPU's with integrated heat-spreader and copper heat-sinks) use.

For GPU I would go with Liquid pads, which allow for uneven heat-sinks. Easter to install (Just cut to fit) and far less risk of eletrical shorting

  7. Thank you, for the reply..

Yeah.. Everything is stock. Probably I'm gonna choose the 970m and when the new generation of CPU's and GPU's comes out, probably I will do a full upgrade and buy the new clevo laptop that eventually should come out.

I've found a store in Portugal that does the upgrade to a 970m for ~580€.. Around 660 US dollars. Is it good value?

You can get the 970m from Eurocom for 535 euro (+shipping). Thats the full kit 970m card, new heatsink, X frame, Thermal pads and the thermal paste.

  8. Ok, it's been a wile since my last post. I got all my staff to deal with repasting etc.

Few tests before I go on for the comparison after all job will be done. All components are on stock clocks, Win8.1.

    3dmark11 gpu score 7138 :

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670MX video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor,CLEVO P370EM

Monster Hunter Online Benchmark 10230 points :

    MHOnline-_wwenwnr.jpg

+ temperatures while performing this test:

    Wykres-te_wwenapp.jpg

On Prime95 CPU temps are reaching 90 Celsius - thermal compound need to be changed definitely :)

Tomorrow I'm going to do all the job needed. Finally.....

EDIT: What software should I use to edit my vbios taken from 670mx with GPUz ?

Don't use the Vbios pulled with GPUz, use the nvidia flash util to make the back up. As for editing Vbios have a word with the master Prema

  9. I wonder if the power supply for the P377SM-A is compatible...Delta ADP-330AB-D. It's 330W. Should be able to find that easily.

The P377SM-A uses a 4 pin din (also used in P170EM, P370EM/EM3, P570WM/WM3 X7200 machines) type of connector so unless your machine that type of connector your out of luck, unless it can be modded to suit your needs.

If you have a P150EM then you have the more standard barrel connector (centre pin outer-edge type of connector). You can use a modded Alienware M18 psu, have a look in the hard mods thread.

  10. That's some critical info re: wattage, thanks!

So without overclocking it looks like 980m is no problem and if you're using 680m (like me) then it's very similar in usage. My eventual setup will be 3920xm and 980m. Should just about scrap by with the 180watt power-supply. Clevo should make a better 240watt minimum power-supply for p150em. I'm not liking the cable-ends swapping method. Has anyone found a source for these for modding power supply?

The tests i did are over the top, after all your not going to be running your system cpu/gpu's at 100% load all the time.

Under normal usage you should be fine on a 180watt.

The 3920xm will use a bit more (rated at 55watt) which maybe just a bit to much for the 180 watt (remember things like 180/200/240/300 watt psu's are rated on peak output, meaning they should only be run at 180/200/240 etc watts for a short very period of time. Prolonged use at max output will kill them).

So when you upgrade your cpu and gfx, do think about getting a better psu esp if your going overclock either of them.

  11. menko2, did you buy a new Notebook or do the upgrade?

I'm from across the pond so not familiar with some of the brands you listed.

If you did upgrade the 680M to the 980M, you will find it does use a bit more power (about 24 watts idle and 57 watts under load more) than the 680M. But it's performance is almost 88% faster than the 680M. The 900 series are throttled down heavily, so expect some heat if some games are demanding. Consider a cooling pad if so.

The CPU from your system 3740QM @ 2.70GHz is actually faster than the 4710HQ. The forth generation offers greater performance on the integrated video for Notebooks and higher clocks for the Desktop version.

You should be able to buy a bigger power block for your Notebook. It's no different than upgrading a desktop power supply so you can add greater hardware. Just make sure the mobo (Motherboard) can handle the power requirements.

Not sure how you came by those numbers. I've been running a 980m in a P370EM with no issues on a 220 watt psu. Have done a bit of testing today with the 680m and the 980m installed with the power supply connected to a load meter. And with the 980m card idle it uses about the as the 680m, much the same story at 100% load the 980m uses about the as the 680m. Even running the 3rd gen i7 and the 980m at 100% load the wattage was on 2 watts more than 680m. The system never hit any more than 170 watts (in total) running either the 980m or 680m.

Update: Just run the total load test again this time with 980m in SLI on a 330 watt psu, total wattage at 100% cpu/gpus was 248 watts. And 680m in SLi was 247 watts.

  12. I just got my delivery of the laptop Coolaboratry pack. Ordered it before I saw your reply. I tested on cpu first (3610qm) and it seemed to work as intended. Then, I did my gpu (gtx680m 4gb) which had as5 on it and the difference is amazing. MSI Kombuster Furmark was making the gpu throttle-down to around 660mhz~ core after a few mins. Now it will run it constant at around 70-72C. For me that's over 15c+ difference. The top-end is unknown as before it would touch 89-90c and drop core speed. I haven't had to go through removing it yet, but, the instructions say it should peel off.

Minus the removal experience, I'd have to say this is an awesome product with no mess so far. Just cut to size, metal, then 0.1mm copper, then, metal. Works great, highly recommended. (so far).

Impressive temp drop, by the sounds of it your gpu heatsink wasn't sitting very flat on the gpu core (A free design flaw with most Clevo machines) or it had a very bad paste job.

Hopefully should you need to replace the pad (for whatever reason) it will come off clean and you've not had any liquid metal leakage.

  13. To be honest I wouldn't recommend them.

    Expensive.

    Little improvement in temps.

Can be difficult to get to phase change (Burnin) without the gfx card(s) shutting down due to overheating (Act as insulators until they change phase).

Nightmare stuff to clear off at a later date.

Just go for MX4 or Diamond pastes, Cheaper, more of it and instant results.

  14. I cannot see any option in the Latest Prema Bios to overclock the CPU.

Do you make it in windows with XTU?

Yes - you may get less or more overclock, every cpu/paste/cooling systems are different

  15. Has anyone tried Coollaboratory Liquid MetalPad on a high-end gpu like GTX680m? I've looked at benchmarks and it seems to be the best.

Yeap I've used Coollaboratory Liquid MetalPad's on 680, 880 and 980's and to be honest made very little difference to temps maybe -1c or -2c compared to MX4 paste.

  16. Got the same cpu in a P370EM with 980m and can't say I've noticed any bottlenecks cpu wise. Biggest bottleneck I had was with the old mechanical harddrive .

Every game I've run has been perfectly fine in the cpu department
