  1. I've looked around using Google and I don't see a DOS version of InsydeFlash available anywhere. I know there has to be something out there, just not sure what. Would be good to have in the tool box to do a flash outside of Windows without having to do a the USB recovery/blind flash method.

Well, for R2 a DOS version can be downloaded directly from Dell: Dell Dell Alienware M18x R2 System BIOS, A03

For R1, I'd like to know this too. Prolly some recent version of flashit for insyde.

  2. R2:

    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_282A&SUBSYS_05501028&REV_04

    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_282A&SUBSYS_05501028

    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_282A&CC_010400

    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_282A&CC_0104

...so device ID is not an issue. According to a piece of info in this article/compendium, all mobile onboard Intel controllers have the same ID and will work with orom of any version.

sv7, follow the link above. You can find oroms of all major revisions there, including final 1582.

  3. Saltius made a mod @823mhz which works extremely well: (Some of us who have been in communication with him already have this file like myself, svl7, and widezu).

It is for the OEM Alienware m18x 680M cards:

Send me a PM if you would like to try it.

I am PMing you now at NBR since here I can't do it for now.

BTW, what is the deal with the 'boot' function? how faster is it supposed to make the stock clocks by default (in other words, what is the relative ratio core clocks vs boost clocks at any frequency)?

I noticed a 680m thread over at mvktech but I assumed that it was still in early development. Thanks. I am sending a PM now.

  5. This is an awesome thread. It actually made me join. Hello there o/

So what is the current state of affairs for Dell 680M 2GB cards? As I understand:

    • the +100Mhz vbios from the first post should work fine yielding 819Mhz core and 858Mhz boost clock
    • MSI/Clevo bioses will not work = Dell cards run only Dell VBIOSes
    • with the "+100Mhz" vbios any higher OC has not been successful so far -> the "erratic" changes of the gpu core-clock occur if attempted
