  1. Thanks for response about that chasis, but what about the cable? Anyone has any experience?
  2. About this chasis available from yoybuy - does it fit the EXP GDC v6? I am asking, because I just think that the hole on the bottom of the chasis looks like it's to small?? Or is it just my imagination? I also have a question about HDMI cable. Do you think that I could extend it in any way? For example with such a cable: http://instal-konsorcjum.platforma.ab.pl/files/photos/41/207541/137064/original.jpg How would something like this work?
  3. I am planning to upgrade my PC by adding new RAM memory. Now I have 4 gigs but I want to buy another 4 gigs so that I will have 8. Do you think that I will be forced to make another DSDT Override or should my setup work properly with more RAM?
  4. Sure, I think that we all understand that, I think that your introduction post makes everything clear I just have to say that this cable in my local computer store costs about $8
  5. I have to say that I thought that you can't order PSU version to the Europe, because of some shipment problems, so I bought this version for 48USD, and then I bought DELL PSU here in Poland. So I am refering to this version. Sorry if I have made any confusion You should be able to buy it in any store (but now I don't know which version you bought). Hero Cloud answers in english, but really, really poorly. He writes max one sentence and it's hard to decipher what he meant in it I bought it from aliexpres.
  6. It IS in the package? It wasn't in mine. All I got was ATX cable so that I can plug in regular ATX Power Supply. It means that you have to buy this cable: http://i01.i.aliimg.com/wsphoto/v0/1852090239/EXP_GDC_6P_turned_the_second_tier.jpg_200x200.jpg But from what I know Hero Cloud doesn't sell it right now, so you have to buy it somewhere in local computer store. At least that was what I had to do.
  7. I guess that you are refering to the EXP GDC? It doesn't come with PCIe adapter, and you need to buy same cable as those provided with modular power supplies. It's pretty tricky IMHO
  8. EDIT 4: It's working ATI Radeon HD 5770 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i5-2520M Processor,Hewlett-Packard 1619 . I am quite happy with the score, but now my wifi card in laptop isn't working. I think it's because I changed one too many things in the Setup 1.x. I'd like to thank @Tech Inferno Fan @jacobsson @Brom and all of those who contributed in the sections for the eGPU, if I will ever meet you in real life I will buy you a drink
  9. It's fine now. I even attatched whole output of my procedures, so someone might help me with my problem EDIT: I managed to fix my *.dsl file so now it's cleaned out of errors (I got zero). But now ASL Compiler v4.0 doesn't work with me EDIT 2: I finished step 6 of DSDT Override. MS ASL Compiler "said" that "Table overriding suceeded", but I don't have "Large Memory" in my DM EDIT 3: Managed to tackle the above, not I struggle with error 43
  10. Somehow I found solution to this problem. I am still with 201 errors on hand and none of them matches kizwan's guide. I'd like to try using iASL compiler and Windows ACPI tools newest version (20140724) so I am now in battle with this one EDIT: I don't want to write two posts so I will just edit this one. Maybe someone will help me I have created dsdt_161B_EGPU.dsl without any problem. When I try to compile it I have 201 errors, but DSDT_EGPU_OVERRIDE.aml appears in appropriate folder. When I try to load this file into the registry I get Error: Cannot map update image (DSDT_EGPU_OVERRIDE.aml). So I have checked my dsdt_161B_EGPU.dsl for errors, this is what I found out: I don't have parse error I don't have Error 4080 - Invalid object type for reserved name I don't have Error 4051 - Method local variable is not initialized I found one error 4043 - ^ Invalid combination of Length and Min/Max fixed flags (but it has different number then in in kizwan's example) Below I have attatched text file with the operations I made in cmd line. There are also all the errors in dsl file. Hopefully my journey with eGPU isn't over FINAL DUMP.txt
  11. After another 2 hours of reading and watching YouTube video I now know what the problem is. I know how to create *.aml file, although it has 201 errors and I can't use this. I know that there is post on how to fix those errors. But I cannot use this information because my Command Line doesn't show me the whole error list. I can't scroll up to see all the errors... I don't know how it is even possible I tried to adjust height, buffer size etc and nothing happened. Maybe one of you had this bug in Windows 7? Without scrolling in cmd line I can't get rid of the errors in aml file. EDIT: When I use my aml file to do the "loadtable" i get Error: Cannot map update image.
  12. I think that I also have to do DSDT override, because few attempts in different compactions gave no result. From what I understand there is no easy solution in doing DSDT override and I have to come up with my own idea based on the information that is in your link?
  13. Thanks for quick response! I will try to run my AMD card, but from what I see the best option for me is just to buy nVidia card? And stupid me thought that buying AMD card would be a better idea
  14. Hi jacobsson! There is no such thing like stupid questions I have the Probook laptop and it has disabled iGPU (I don't know if it was cut out of the processor or what ) and there isn't option for disabling the eGPU in BIOS. I only have 7400series dGPU in my laptop.
  15. I finally launched my eGPU. Windows and Setup 1.x now can see the card, although I don't know how to disable dGPU, I have read all the manuals and spent over an hour figuring it out but I still can't do it (maybe I am to stupid but there is just too much informations and I can't tell which are important for me). So far I am at the point where Windows have installed my eGPU (drivers etc.), but I have error12, and my dGPU is still the main card. Could someone tell me step by step what do I have to do to make this run properly? When I hit dGPU in Setup 1.x to disable it, the programe seems to get stuck on this screen: http://i.imgur.com/mi27jLD.jpg I watched the screen for 2 minutes and then I rebooted the computer. Do I have to wait longer to disable dGPU or will it never happen for me? Maybe I am impatient? When I selected this second option for the dGPU (something about demoting it), then Setup 1.x showed me that the dGPU is [off], but it didn't change in Windows (I did chainload). Help me guys, you are my only hope
  16. Great, I feel relieved for the moment thanks for the help so far to all of you, especially Nando who made everything clear to me, very comprehensive explanation.
  17. Laptop boots with eGPU being powered. I am sure that my expresscard is enabled in BIOS and that it is working because I used different cards and everything was fine. This means that there might be something wrong with the GPU, the EXP GDC, the cable or the PSU. Do you think that the GPU isn't detected by the system, because the PCI-E 6pin cable isn't plugged in (the GPU doesn't have enough power)?
  18. What do you mean that it hangs up? You mean that it freezes and doesn't boot?
  19. Maybe you are right, but it still would be odd for me - why fan is running then?. I got my hands on Setup 1.x and when I launch it, it says that my eGPU isn't connected. I really hope that it's the PCI-E cable
  20. Yes, Fan is on full speed. Unfortunately I don't have the pci-e power 6-pin because I have made the mistake of not ordering it. I think that it shouldn't change the case that the card should be visible in the device manager? You think that it's lack of power causing this? My notebook's iGPU is disabled (by manufacturer) and I am starting to think that I have to disable dGPU in the setup 1.x in order to run eGPU.
  21. Yes sir, it does. The GPU is running and all! I mean the fan is on, just Windows doesn't see the device.
  22. Hello everyone! I have recently bought EXP GDC and I have tried to install it with my notebook, but unfortunatelly I have some major issues. I hope that you will help me First of all this is my spec: HP Probook 6560b i5-2520m 4gb ram dGPU : AMD 7400M Series Windows 7 Pro 64bit eGPU spec: EXP GDC v.6 DELL DA-2 PSU Radeon HD 5770 (I want to change it for better one if my setup will work ) I connect all the pieces and nothing seems to be working for me. I tried to connect the EXP GDC while in Windows, while booting the notebook, shortly after booting, after pressing F8 or even before switching on the laptop in every case my OS doesn't seem to recognize the card, nothing pops up in the Device Manager. What else can I do? Do I need setup 1.x to make my configuration working? Cheers, MadMan from Poland (yeah, sorry for my English, I am not a native speaker )
