  1. They refused to honor my warrenty when i told them I tried to flash their bios from their website and they said it is a user error instead. Still fighting them on that, but in the mean time i might as well try to see if i can get it to work for now. It seems that people just have theirs start working again randomly so im trying to see if i can somehow get it to work with some key presses or just trying different power states and combinations, etc. Dont want to take it apart in case I can get them to honor my warrenty and then they return it due to seals broken or something.

I still think its waste of time (i tried everything i could, even changing bios chip)

But, when i called to Lenovo there were 3 different people serving me, each other did know my case so if you would call again to Lenovo, probably new guy will talk to you, and you would tell him that your y510p is just not turning on. Of course if they did not remember you or sth

  2. undervolting in bios.

Oh well, in that case :D do you have warranty? if yes, send your y510p to lenovo

If you do not have warranty (that's really odd, but it happens) or u had broken your warranty seals , then... hmm... in my case (i don't have warranty, soo) computer service told that CPU is damaged and they cannot fix it, imagine my suprise when my y510p turned ON after it came back from them :D I don't know what fixed it, maybe replacing CPU to another laptop restored sth, i also heard that they restored original "power" on motherboard but it did not help...

Anyway, if you have warranty, send it immediately to Lenovo, else you will be wasting your time like i did

  3. Hello all, i couldn't be sure if this was the right thread to ask about this issue, but I failed to find any other populated one. I have regularly installed the v3.05 bios (that was published in Lenovo's own site) to my Y510p, it seemed that the installation progress was successfull; but right after that, it tried to reboot the system, and then it started rebooting without even showing anything on screen. Power button light and keyboard led flashes, and then it reboots. (here is a similar issue reported on forum; Bricked Y510P Bios Failure after update to 3.05 - Lenovo Community) I can not access the bios. I would appreciate any help or advice, thank you.

    Hahaha another one :D

Anyway, i will know exact cause soon, week maybe. Stay tuned :>

  4. Ditto, I finally got to see my laptop and the service paper say they "replaced the bios" so I am not sure if that means the chip or the firmware. Either way I would HIGHLY recommend not trying to change the CPU voltage offset with the unlocked bios and stick to XTU instead.

I also can't believe they actually did the work under warranty (no charge) after I ripped the motherboard out and de-soldered the battery.

Great to hear that, since i was afraid that my CPU is damaged :P

  5. It should be packed bios CMOS battery. Is it movable at all? No damage by moving it except if it somehow non-movable. It must be packed in plastic as a lot of those batteries are. Note if you remove the battery, you must remove it for 20-30 minutes at least to reset BIOS.

this battery is "hanging" on "metal connection aka solid wire". I dont know how to remove only battery from this mysterous thing :|.

Btw. I shorted these 2 cmos pins, and now even keyboard is not lighting and i cant shut it down without removing laptop battery.

  6. Hello.

So here's the thing. I flashed your modded bios 3.5 for y510p, and it was working. But only for one gpu, and i was reading that SLI users have to flash ultrabay gpu too. So i did it. Without any error. Then i went to bios to check these new options and i undervolted cpu (-65). Then i saved changes, and i exit bios. After reboot, screen was black (like no light at all), my mouse and pendrive didnt light, only keyboard and power button was lighting. And i felt warm air from fans, after some time it was more warm.

I hope i explained it well, and i am truly asking you for some help. I would really appreciate it.

    Regards,

    Cassiel.
