Awesome can you take a screen shot of the main window of hwinfo not summary and hit the check by 940xm and take a screen shot of the overclock voltage increase listing? I want to compare what kind of voltage i've been adding to my 2920xm

Will do later. At the moment I'm doing it with my 540M and my 720M is next.

Ok quick update,

looks like 1.06v with no bios voltage adjustment.

With bios +150mV its about 1.177v with the bios +150mV

Well just measured the 540M without any bios voltage adjustments, looks like 1.06v

Ok just grabbed a multimeter. Getting dice now. Going to try and get some good work done. Hopefully the meter is accurate. Thanks for the info. .5v would be crazy, but maybe on dice it won't be so bad. That will be the 520 since its the stock chip.

If the same slots in the original pic don't work, what would I need to try in order to bump voltage for the 540M?

Well tomorrow I'll get a multimeter and feed you my results. Hopefully they will be good. I can get the 540M up over 4GHz, now I want to get it higher because it's the best chip I have for global points. I'll also be picking up some dice tomorrow and bench the chips with that using the dice cup. Heat won't be a factor, So maybe I can use the full 150mV on the chip. Best thing for me to do would be test on the 520M since that will be a stock chip. if it dies, I'll just call dell

May have to get a multi meter tomorrow. Any sort of documentation that would give the voltage or program that shows it? I know old core 2 chips read voltage in Cpu-z

Hmm, Thats true. Don't really have much way at the moment to measure the voltage.

Im going to try this tonight. Looks like the easiest thing. Biggest pain is diassembling the system. Ill bet i can put up some big numbers with my 540m. That thing is a beast overclocker. Ill put it on dice if temps are crazy.

Yea thats what I was thinking about. It's very fragile. Where did you get the copper braid? I might be able to strip some CAT 5 line. If I can get this done, it will mean rerunning benchmarks on the 520M, 540M, and other chips. Not sure if the 540 will be an issue with heat, but breaking out the dice cup would be necessary for the 940XM.

Just hit me, I can use speaker wire. I think essentially your just connecting the pins right? I mean when you jump the two holes, the socket still slides into place once the chip is locked in so essentially it appears your just jumping the pins.

Hmm, this would definately help me get some global boints with my 540M. I wonder if the solder wire I have is thin enough.

@DR650SE I think it would be an honor if you joined our team here and helped stomp the competition. I am still working on getting better scores. I haven't joined the HWbot team yest but am planning on it and will submit my scores there as soon as I've gotten as far as I feel I can get on these benches.

Submit some. Use only your best if you have to. That way if you get beat you can submit another. Just submit the min to take the gold

Yea, the diamond is much harder then copper so thats expected, I have that on some of my CPU's i've used IC Diamond on. Are there still tubes being given away?

Hmm, man I wish I had my 6970's back. Anyone into hardware sharing? I'm thinking about joining the team. The OC Forums team is great, but I have yet to get enough posts over at OC Forums to get into the benchmarking team lounge. They have a seperate benchmarking subforum, and then in that is a members only access for team members with 100+ posts. I don't just post to post, and still at like 75 posts. The thing I like about this team is small, and every little contribution helps. I have 160 team points to contribute, but I'm only 23rd out of 340 on OC Forums team. The leader has almost 2000 pts And I've only used notebook hardware. HWbot is really tailored to desktop hardware.

I would also really like to see this team grow. I think it could be great with the knowledge available to it.

Hmm, I may have to volt mod my stuff to get my records back. Just no time for benching at the moment

Yea, it'll be a lot of fun. Aarpcard made one but spliced into one psu to adapt the connector. I want to did a way to make one so no splicing is necessary. Maybe then resistance will remain uniform across both psu's.

Only one pot. Be nice if I had two. I normally just put the dice straight on the heatsink. Bit i tjonk that is what killed a 5870. Moisture.

In other news, I have a pair of 6990s on the way. I also have a second psu in my possession. Just waiting for aarpcard testing of his adaptor and ill be doing the same. Gotta find a way for the system to share the power load.

Yea, as soon as I can have regualr internet access, I will definately be updating. I also was walking through the grocery store yesterday and noticed, they sell dry ice for $1.09/lb. I'm getting in on that as soon as I get my 6970's back. I just need to insulate the cards pretty well. Thinking I may just coat them in gummy art eraser to prevent any moisture build up.

Yea, if you restart, does it flicker at stock clocks? Id have to restart at stock to prevent flickering. On a side note I ran dual monitors once, dual furmark overclocked and 1.15v and my temps were ok but after 30 sec it zap a card. Temps low 80s and my slave or master went kaput. Instant KIA. Gone but not forgotten. his sacrifice lives on Hahaha

Same thing happened to me when I was in Iraq. I had an external and ot flickered at every little thing. Like scrolling web pages. One of the reasons I always kept it at stock clocks. Don't have an external since O got back

Hmm... In this case will be sending a PM as well to test it. Interested in how it performs compared to the other ICDiamond stuff.
