  1. Nice! Finally broke 6K, congrats! Thats awesome. Try lowering your TDP to about 105W and see if that prevents you from hitting the thermal limits. From my benching it didn't look like the CPU drew more than 101W according to HWinfo32. StamatisX, Have you tried raising the BCLK with your voltage increased? Thats when the extra voltage really helps.
  2. The pot was about $170, and 183 shipped, so it definately wasn't cheap. On my other runs I had the 150mV, but I'm hoping this will give me a little more headroom, to OC, since the temps will remain lower as a whole. If only I had more voltage. But I'm also going to get a cheap mobo and some CPUs to play with as I learn more about sub zero cooling. Doesn't have to be XM CPUs, I just enjoy pushing hardware, even the low end stuff, and I figure the low end stuff will keep the hobby cheaper. Koolance V2 Pot
  3. Look whats on its way... Shoud be in in a week. Koolance V2 Pot. Designed for LN2, but from what I read it's much better for Dice, since it respons so quick, and to heavy a pour can coldbug the CPU. Should be fun, if not for the M17x, then a lot of other old cheap hardware
  4. Ok, is it freezing or dropping the psu? Disable things in the bios not needed for the tests, like sound, wired adaptor, dimmed screen ect to dedicate all power to gpu's and cpus. If the gpu's won't go higher, work on the cpu. That can help up the physics score and combined that score. Also if 925 won't work, try a jump to 940 or 950. maybe you need to just get past that wall. Typing on my phone at church sorry for any spelling Try 930/1200. maybe its the mem.
  5. Try out 930/1250 on the GPU, I think that should pick up those extra pts you need. Maybe even 925MHz on the core, but you should be able to pull off 1250 on the mem. Also what is your cpu voltage? I found that 3DMark11 doesn't hit the cpu as hard as vantage, so if you can put the voltage to have+75mV that should help stability and raise temps just a little. Not sure what your temp headroom is. Then drop your setfsb to about 146 mhz and up your multiplier by one and increase tour TDP to about 115w and TDP to 85. the cpu will likely not draw more then 103w but 115w should government you some leeway. See if that combo works and let me know what your temps are. May even be able to go higher if temps allow +150mv.
  6. I was able to top my Vantage score with clocks increased a tad. Had enough dry ice this morning for 2-3 runs. I had picked up 13 lbs on thursday, so there was about 1lbs left. I topped my scores in 3 of the 4 scores. CPU test two was the only one. My previous best was 28.81, and this time it was 28.14. Still, plretty pleased with the results. All I can say is this system is a monster. Finally broke the 23K mark for the CPU score. Vantage: P 21724 GPU: 21325 CPU: 23016
  7. When i get a chance, maybe in a week or so, i will run the same settings with a 920xm. They are pretty much identical and should give the same results. Ill do it after I move. Let the one cream shop germore dice I bought 26 lbs on the past week Lol Thanks guys. Can't wait to see 6970's in action.
  8. Final run for the day, on Dice. Now time to head to work and make some money! 3DMark11 P6385 --- Result URL for details Once I reinstalled CCC and everything, it was apparant a run on dice would provide favorable results. I may try for higher GPU locks later when I get some time, but they are already pretty high. Still have to run vantage with those clocks. May be a while since I'm moving to a new Apt in a week. Once I get settled, time to head bac to the ice cream shop for more dice
  9. I reinstalled CCC and the drivers and there were other options that I didn't have before. Maybe I neglected to install something before. Time to Rerun some benches, but this one was done without external cooling, and lowered the clocks to 930/1200. I'll get a 1GHz GPU run done today which should stack nicely. Also might have to rerun Vantage and see if it makes a differance. Not sure if it will or not. P5924 http://3dmark.com/3dm11/990493
  10. Ir run argus monitor and see what I get during the 3DMark11 bench.
  11. I thnk so, I'm going to rerun it and boost that number up. but my CPU scores look pretty good.
  12. Could be, they may have reset. I thought I had them all on "Performance" Here is a side by side comparison between mww86 and score. On another note so close to 23K CPU. 3DMark Vantage: Score: P 21459 GPU: 21014 CPU: 22915
  13. Nice score, this is the highest I've had so far. 5872 I have a 146MHz FSB, 26x across all cores, 1000MHz/1300MHz GPU, and still can't break 5900. I'm thinking I need to mess with settings or something, Just can't figure out what. Result Comparing our results, it looks like it's Graphics Test 4 that is killing my score. I'm getting 16.6 FPS, where your getting 19.04 FPS. If I can figure out that, I may have a chance at putting up a better score.
  14. Dry ice sublimates (turns to gas and expands if not kept at a temp lower than -109F. If you put it in a sealed aluminum container, you better stand back, as it will explode. It's frozen CO2 which is why it skips the liquid phase and turns to gas, which is why if felt comfortable putting it straight on the CPU and GPU heatsinks. Most people when benching put it in a copper pot which sits on the CPU die/GPU die/mem. Then they fill it wil isopropol alcohol and put the dice in it so that it spreads the cold and sucks the heat out of the CPU. I tried to make a cheap makeshift dice pot out of a copper pipe cap and pipe, but it didn't work as well, and I'm guessing because it wasn't perfectly smooth to mate with the cpu die. So I resorted to putting it on the heatsink to cool the heatsink and thus the CPU.
  15. Haha. You should definitely give it a shot. Call around. Its cheap. Here it was $1.75/lb.
  16. Haha. Probably. I bough 5lbs the first day and 8 yesterday. Funny, when they asked me what it was for I straight up said to keep my processor and gpu cold for benchmarking. Kinda got a confused look.
  17. When i bench tomorrow Im unplugging the fans to reduce stress on the psu. I May go with 10-12lbs of dry ice
  18. I actually had the same thought. Tomorrow Im getting more dice and the psu is going in the cooler. I've seen it pull 260w+. We shall see if it helps
  19. I think at this point I may be at my peak, though I havn't tried higher clocks. I might try that later. I've had slightly higher GPU scores, but not total overall scores. Highest GPU score was 21083. Currently I'm trying to beat the 6K StamatisX put up, but using the same 950MHz on the core, the highest I can get is 5595 so far. Though at the moment thats the highest I can clock without dry ice. I was able to run through the GPU tests with 1GHz on the core, but when it hit the combined test, I thought it was taking too long, so I'd shut it down. Only today to realize that it takes a long time to load that particular test. Tommorrow I may go and get some more dry ice. I never thought to look in an ice cream shop till I started googling and some near me came up. The closest is closed for a while till I think the weather warms up, so instead of a 2 mile trip, its a 6mi I gotta find StamatisX's secret lol @mw86, Nice! I gotta figure out what I'm doing wrong, you guys are smoking me by almost 400pts! All my clocks, CPU/GPU are higher. Strange, ...pack to the idea table
  20. Copy and pasting my post from NBR. I finally accomplished a goal of mine. Ran Vantage at 1GHz on the GPU Core. Ran with the clocks of 1000MHz on the core, 1300MHz on the memory. Broke 21K GPU score and set a new high score for myself. I also ran wPrime1024M in sub 200sec. Which was another goal. Also set a record for wPrime 32M. Yesterday was a good day benching. Vantage: P 21390 GPU: 21058 CPU: 22453 wPrime32M: 6.235sec @ 4039.5MHz wPrime 1024M: 197.997sec @ 3895.7MHz Cooling on Dry Ice. I tried out a makeshift DICE pot, but the cooling wasn't as efficient as this method, and since dry ice doesn't turn to a liquid, I had no issues, other then burns to the fingers. I'd still like to get an effective dice pot, that would make things much easier. Side note, does anyone have an issue where there 3DMark11 freezes as it's 3/4 of the way through loading the "combined" test? I can make it through everything else, but this freezes my system. I may try and lower the clocks.
  21. Thanks, yea i thought so too. Its also a black inspiron so the lid is black.
  22. No freezer. Using dry ice though. Helps out quite a bit, but be sure to wear gloves. I might look into getting a dice pot.
  23. Thanks. Did you see the min temps? I guess thats the lowest reported by real temp or the cpu. Ill have to check with hwinfo. And i forgot to use my HyperX ram. I don't know if it'll make a diff, but my goal is to break 200sec.
