  1. Relatively speaking the chances of a faulty MXM slot is much much lower, as the MXM slot's job is to make electrical connections.

You can clean it with some alcohol or even simply blowing into it to rid of it dust for example

  2. Hi I had this problem before with AMD GPU, do you mind if I ask is your AMD purchased brand new or 2nd hand? From experience, the crash is due to a hardware problem, ie, something is wrong with the AMD GPU and not likely your BIOS / drivers.

The problem arises either if purchased 2nd hand, someone been overclocking / overheating the card too much and caused a micro-fractures on the solders on the card / poor or absent electrical conductions...nothing you can do except get a replacement.

If purchased new, most likely a poor batch of GPU / components on the card, again you will need to seek a replacement.

  3. Theres a lot of variable as to why your laptop is getting so hot. I suspect the prime reason is because watch_dogs is a demanding game, I have watch_dogs too and I notice both my GPU + CPU temp rockets when I play the game also :P

The best thing to do is prob raise the laptop up with some books to improve air flow or get a laptop stand with a built in fan. or reduce the in game quality setting to reduce heat output. I also suspect when you had your laptop new the ambient temperature were cooler than summer temps.
