  1. I would roll back to whatever OS you were using previously if I were you, mate. Windows 10+ nvidia 355.60 driver bricked my screen in R4.

In regards to removing/re-installing nVidia GPU, you should not have any issues if you are in Optimus. nVidia card is not required at all to POST or boot into Windows.

OMG so sorry to hear that... I'm on 8.1 now and I'm planning on sticking with it... This is absurd... even the new driver did this?

You do have a point about the POST etc.... Makes perfect sense to me... Just want a 2nd/3rd opinion on this from @J95 or @Mr.Fox...

  2. You will need to remove the fan first, then the 2 screws holding the VGA in place. There is not enough space to slide the whole assembly out if the fan is still in place.

I don't really want to do that... That caused problems for me last time and reinserting the card was troublesome... I remember that when my 970M died, J95 told me to reseat it by removing just the 2 screws with heatsink in place along with fan (or without fan)...

Also according to Mr Fox, rolling back BIOS is fine as long as A13 doesn't have a newer UEFI version then A11... otherwise you'd softbrick.. I know that UEFI was added to A09 from A08 and similar thing happened for A07 to A08 for M18x R2... Is this the case that A11/A13 are same UEFI version?

  3. There is NO undervolting via software. Your card automatically picks higher than vBIOS base voltage because of its 0.1% too low ASIC score.

If you want lower voltage than your cards default, then you need to force it via a special Mod.

Do you mean a special vBIOS? I have no idea about doing anything about that... Wouldn't mind giving a beer or so if you could help me...

    Thanks,

    Tom

  4. An ASIC of 66.5% would use one step lower voltage and use 0.993v (this is also what my vBIOS is set to). The reason you saw 0.950v on your old card was probably due to voltage being throttled.

Voltage can only be be permanently undervolted, no on-the-fly changes, yet.

Prema my friend, It goes to 1.006V at the lowest amount... When I try to reduce to 1.0V still stays stuck at 1.006V.. I'm using EVGA Precision X.... No such problems when overvolting, that works fine... I thought this might be a problem with the old BIOS due to an inproper/not complete flash however this new BIOS has same problem...

  5. M17xR4 flashing unlocked sBIOS A11

Ok @J95, I'm going pluck up and try flashing this... Just one question... You said to remove the GPU by removing the 2 screws that hold it down and not remove heatsink etc... So basically I just keep the fan there where it always is in the heatsink and then just remove screws, turn over computer and start the process? If anyone else can help on this (which I am sure there are plenty, please do)...

Just one last thing... I am really worried as my motherboard came with A12 when Dell replaced it... When I downgrade, it won't brick or anything right? That is really making me worry and has always stopped me from pulling the trigger... Is there anything I can do to make sure nothing goes wrong etc?

  6. @ ALL

I have just updated the GTX9xxM vBIOS Mods to v1.1.1:

    - minor bug fixes (e.g. voltage slider on GTX970M didn't level on certain ASIC cards)

    - Updated nVflash Mod to v5.227 (proper W10 & mobile Maxwell Quadro support) THX @Mr. Fox for testing!

I have also added GTX980M-G, GTX970M-G & GTX965M-G vBIOS Mods, so that people with g-sync models can now also ENJOY the unleashed power of their GPUs! :)

@HTWingNut can surely share some of his nice results! THX again for testing buddy! :)

@Prema flashed your vBIOS... Voltage still sticks at 1.006V... My ASIC is 66.4% on this new card... old card was 64% and it still did 0.95V... I saw your post about the ASIC affecting voltages however when I checked voltage in GPU-Z, it said higher ASIC means lower stock voltage... So in that sense, shouldn't this range of 65-70% mean that the lower stock voltage is allowed? Not trying to argue or anything but can't anything be done about this? Higher voltages are straining my cooling system... temps are up like by 10C compared to my old card....

  7. Indeed... From what I've read on NBR, these don't look to good but @J95 mod them plz :P

As for unlocked BIOS, I have the procedure marked down and will try when I can... Just sorted out the root on my LG G4 so now I can listen to music properly with Viper4Android... This next I guess...

  8. @J95 very off topic lol but what versions of Intel MEI are you using along with RST and Chipset software? I've updated the last 2 but the first one not too sure which is to be used... Would help if you could give ID/ links to versions for all 3.. Also must be the hundredth time I've asked but to flash unlocked A11, how would I do it? Do I just download the A11 from Dell website and downgrade from A13? Thing is my board came with A12... then do I make bootable drive and flash unlocked? Is there some safe way to do this? I really think that I need unlocked BIOS due to CPU throttle power limit which can only be removed there...

  9. That's normal and I see the same message before I flash my card. Someone else may be able to tell you exactly what the PCI subsystem ID is or why it doesn't matter that there is a mismatch. Then again, the explanation might not be quick :)

Yup it doesn't matter.. Flashed and everything was fine!

  10. yeah shouldn't be pricing in this thread. But if i see a member is active, I go as low as I can usually. On occasion I get someone who creates an account, and the first piece of activity they do is send me a PM. I do not give them the same pricing.

They get the same product, and i tell them to become active on the forums sure, I do not want to over step my lucky privileges on these forums. Many forums will not allow people if they are also vendors to post about such things, it is literally a case by case in some circumstances.

For the record, I offered Tom $600CAD/$855CAD since he is active. This pricing is amazing. If shipping to the USA, $45CAD and it is shipped anywhere in the USA. Pricing has changed abit, because US dollar is much higher then the canadian and it keeps rising. So, basically our costs have gone up,

but we have maintained our pricing, which is difficult.

Apologies have deleted that.. Hopefully it should be gone on your end..
