  1. If someone wants to see HOW LENOVO do not PUT pasta on the second GPU(Y510p Ultrabay GPU), I will send a picture to the PM

Have you still got those photos? I would very like to see it!

  2. 2.07 ec + modded 3.05 bios are working like a charm on my y510p

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

xingcoo, have you got modded 3.05, unclocked, whitelisted? Can you share if you do?

Flashing the ultra bay 750m - only for SLI users:

Warnings regarding the SSID can be ignored.

slv7, do you only change voltages, base and memory clocks, or do you do something special to enable changing temperature control/prioritize ?

  3. Here: http://forum.techinferno.com/lenovo-ibm/4668-lenovo-y410p-y510p-unlocked-bios-wlan-whitelist-mod-vbios-mod.html#post65200

But, just noticed that you have 755m, not 750m like i do. Dont know if it matters, because only difference is clocks...

I am wondering if "Y500 - Y400 - SLI 750m - 80.07.9D.00.11 - OC.zip" could actually work with 755m, where BIOS 80.07.A8.00.32 is in. And if it would work in Win8.1 in SLI mode at all.

  4. I have read that key B+M at least is supposed to support up to 4x connection (url), and i.e. using P14S-P14FP (M.2 to PCIe X2 Edge Extender Board) adapter we could also get 4x PCI express. I maybe would be willing to try similar adapters.. but I am still not sure if its better to remove mPCIe wireless card and connect eGPU into that slot (then I would need to buy ngff m.2 -> mPCIe adapter to use wireless) OR leave wireless in its place and get the extender board from NGFF m.2 to PCI express to connect the eGPU. As y510p SLI is still good enough for all the games, I am not in a hurry to try that, but rather slowly gathering information and seeing whats happening in this area.

  5. This was bought last august so bios was 1.09 stock. All I did was read bios, mod, flash it back. And for the sli-gpu I flashed already modded bios from this thread.

As I understand, you have used modded bios from slv which included internal gpu bios. What about bios which is in gpu/ultrabay itself? I of course cannot change temperature control because it seems I could not find 2nd GPU modded bios for 755m card. Could you point to the exact thread where you found it?

  6. I used ocz freeze. There is pads for gpu memory chips.

One trick is to lift laptops back up from the table. Gets much better air from below and stays cooler.

oh nice, lifting really helps! Did you leave those termopads or replaced them with thicker layer of ocz?

  7. Following that logic, it would be 0xBFA00000 = ~3GB for dohobo then.

    > Other question: Can i use PE4L V2.1b with x16 graphic card? PE4L V2.1b has only PCI Express x1.

You can - just it will be slower than x16, but unless you have several PCIe x1 slots to spare its want you would be using. x1-x16 is not everything - also the power of the graphics card counts, because it does all the calculations.

  8. There was something about fan in unlocked bios but i havent examined it yet.

So, now running unlocked 1.09 bios and sli-gpus unlocked too. Got my temps down quite easy:

    1. From Intel Xtreme Tuning utility, undervoltage CPU -100mv, and frequencys set 4 cores 2,9ghz, 3 cores 3,0, 2 3,1ghz and 1 3,0ghz

    2. For both the gpus, nvidiainspector is the answer. :) lower the max. temp from 96'c to 80'c. And with overclock you can compensate that temp (and clock) lowering thing. So i got gpu boost 150mhz and memory 200mhz. Gpu stays below 80'c because of undervoltage.

    Sorry my bad english....

dj_pirtu, did you downgraded from 3.05 bios to 1.09 unlocked stright, or 3.05->2.07[stock]->1.09[stock]->1.09[unlocked] ? Can you run windows 8.1 with SLI with that bios? Btw, where did you find sli-gpus unclocked BIOS btw ?

And what undervoltage value did you use for your GPUs ?

  9. which paste did you use, dj_pirtu - ocz freeze, arctic silver 5 or some other one ? Do you remember if there were any termo pads on either gpu, cpu or any bridge microshemes or just thermopaste? I am wondering (still) if I want to void the warranty by repasting or not..

  10. Both the Lenovo US and CA websites currently offer a 512GB SSD option for the Y50 non-touch screen model.

Do you know what type/manufacturer of SSD are they putting into Y50 laptop?

  11. I went for 16GB. You can make ramdisk and put whole game into ramdisk before player - if you also use SSD copying would be fast, but game would be even faster than playing from SSD!! That is something to consider if you would want. Of course, I am running also browsers, windows temp and other things in ramdisk, putting minimal the strain on SSD.

  12. I see that if vsync is off, some experience tearing, if vsync is on, then stuttering. How do we map fps limit with that?

Vsync off + limit fps to x (>40)

Vsync off + do not limit fps

Vsync on + limit fps to x (>40)

Vsync on + do not limit fps

When in those cases do we get tearing, when stuttering, and when everything runs smooth ?

  13. Well, if Ultrabay is at 8x PCIe 2.0, then m.2 NGFF M+B key connector would be able to support PCIe 2.0 x4, and mPCIe would be able to support PCIe x4 too I think. So in y510p one has 3 ways to connect adapters at least.

Noted that performance wise would be less powerfull.

    > You still need to modify bios/me for altering ME descriptor.

Well, BIOS 3.05 can be downgraded to 2.07 with slv7 whitelist mod (correct me if I am wrong, but I think whitelist goes to any hardware there and external eGPU could be connected). Or maybe we could try hacking 3.05 if needed. Any good tutorials on doing that?

Btw, does it not Setup 1.x also let you whitelist any mPCIe ? http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-probook/70355-all-probooks-laptops-general-our-wifi-whitelisting-days-0v3r.html

  14. Speaking theoretically. Would it be possible (if ultrabay/mini PCI-e/ 2x+4x+sata m.2 ngff traced to PCI-express) to connect to the system lets say Geforce GTX 780 Ti ? If so, would full potential of 780 Ti be utilized? I think we might also need some external electricity because 780 Ti itself would eat more watts than y510p is capable - meaning +250w external PSU. But the question is would it be possible? How many pci express lanes would we need overall? Would default Nvidia drivers support such a setup or would we need to write our own drivers? I have taken here specific card in order to bring this discussion further.

  15. Lenovo Y510p

    Intel Core i7 4700MQ

    RAM 16 GB ( 2 x 8 GB ) 1600 MHz / PC3-12800, one stock Samsung, one Kingston HyperX Impact

Adata 256GB SSD 920SS PRO Series (Rapid Mode enabled, AHCI)

    24 GB internal SSD

2x NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M SLI

    Windows 8.1 64bit

Intel Wireless 2230 centrino (runs at 8 MB/s when sitting 1-2 meters from the router)
