  1. You are welcome I remember reading somewhere in this forum about your bios version. Maybe you can try to find this. I'm on my phone so its not easy to search. If I remember correctly you cannot downgrade from your version. I'm currently using version 45 without any problems. I think your problem is either bios or hardware related. Maybe someone else that knows more about this can help. Edit: one thing you can try is plug in the PE4C without the GPU and just test its USB port.
  2. Hi Harris, Are you using Windows 8.1 (uefi install) or Windows 7? I think both should be plug and play with you system (you may need a dsdt override if you have a GTX750ti or similar card). Also, have you tried another express card in your 2570p slot to make sure its working properly? And what power suply and gpu are you using? I hope this helps you.
  3. <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:OfficeDocumentSettings> <o:AllowPNG/> </o:OfficeDocumentSettings> </xml><![endif]--> Hi, I was looking for a solution to connect a egpu to a mini pci-e slot that is hard to get to, in this case one in an Asus N53SN (I can only use it if the laptop is partially disassembled). I came across this on ebay "Mini PCIe to ExpressCard 34/54mm Adapter Card USB3.0 cable Connect". I could use this and mod a hdd caddy to fit the USB cable creating something like Sonys Z2 lightpeak port. This to me looks like the equivalent of one of those pcie to USB3 risers used for mining but in this case made for laptops. Could this be good for 2x speeds? Would it be stable? It would be fun to try it but I would like some technical options about it.
  4. Hi guys, Just want to share some recent experiences I had with my 2570p and EXP GDC V6. I recently bought a cheap Asus GTS 450 with GF116 core (lucky me) and so I decided to test installing Windows 8.1 in UEFI mode and I can confirm what was said earlier. In this mode there is no need for setup 1.30 but when I replaced the GTS 450 with my GTX 750Ti I had to make the DSDT override to make it work but that was it, so no need to use setup 1.30 either. Anyway setup 1.3 is still very useful for battery tweaks and other systems. Another thing I noticed is that I was able to install my modded 344.11 verde drivers without having to disable driver signing or enable test mode (I think I had to do it in the past). I hope this findings are useful and help someone save time.
  5. Thanks badbadbad So far so good. I guess Tech Inferno Fan already answered. Good to know by the way. I noticed that we can downgrade from bios F.44 to F.42 so I think we can downgrade bios version when we want. I was surprised, usually its not this easy if at all possible. I had a strange bug with my moded 337.88 verde drivers. I couldn't have just the external display and the laptop display off, both of them had to be on. I've already modded the new 340.52, I will test them and see what happens.
  6. Hi guys, Just to report that I already got my 2570p from ebay for 367€ incl. shipment, with i5 3340M@ 2,7Ghz and 4GB Ram 1333 and a 320GB 7200rpm HDD. I already upgraded it with a 128GB SSD Kingston V300, 2x 8GB Kingston 1600 and installed Windows 8.1. I plugged in my EXP GDC V6 with my GTX750 ti OC from Asus and it runs really well but unlike with my Vaio VPCZ1 I had to do DSDT override (using bios F.45) to use both displays at the same time or the laptop screen would turn grey with low resolution and I had to use setup1,30 to do a 36 compression (same situation with an Acer Aspire 4920). The system boots so fast that I almost don't loose any time doing it. I get an error code 10 in device manager about a High Definition Audio Controller, but audio is working so I don't think it's a problem. My 3DMark06 score is 19637 (external screen). So I'm very happy with this machine. If only we could upgrade it's screen...
  7. Hi, This is my first post in this forum. I bought a GDC v6 some weeks ago and I want to share my experiences. I use it in my Vaio VPCZ13V9EX with bios hack (to disable the dGPU 330M) and now I have a true plug and play solution using Windows 8.1 and a GTX750Ti OC from Asus. I can even turn on the laptop with the express card inserted. It took a lot of reading, most of it done in this forum, so I want to say thanks to everyone, specially Tech Inferno Fan I also got it to work with an old Acer Aspire 4920 but just on the external screen, internal gets gray 4bit, using Setup 1x. If anyone needs help with similar setups I will be happy to help if I can. I also ended up modding an old PSU and now I don't need the ATX power cable that came with the GDC v6. The mod can be useful if you don't have one of those cables or a Dell DA-2 near you. I got addicted to playing with this and just ordered a HP 2570p from ebay.
