Notebookcheck got cherry picked parts.
At least I've been fortunate enough not to get the throttle of doom......
I'm just angry right now don't mind me, I'll calm down and be a lot more rational...

I'll tell you something, my NP9377 arrives on Wednesday, and it'll be a sketchy first few hours running benchmarks and seeing what kind of performance I get. I'm crossing my fingers that my 880M's are in good shape and perform at least how they should at stock levels.
In the future, I'll probably consider making a custom PSU and unlocking the vbios. If throttling is rampant, I may have to get on this sooner rather than later.

It doesn't even have to be overclocked... These cards are not matching stock 780s out of the box.

I was reading HTWingnut's review of the Sager 9377, and his charts showed only the overclocked 780M SLI setup beating the 880M SLI config. I know a lot of users are having issues, but I'm running on the assumption that a stock 880M SLI setup will beat a stock 780M SLI setup. Notebookcheck also reinforces this notion.
I have no doubt in the users that have been posting about dismal stock performance, but all things being equal, stock 780M SLI gets beat by stock 880M SLI.

OK... it's time for NVIDIA fans, 880M owners and others to act... if you're pissed about what you're seeing and experiencing, head on over here (link below) to make some noise and show your support for comrades that are being screwed over with an expensive GPU that runs like crap! Everyone waited and waited for a vBIOS mod from @svl7 and @johnksss and kept quiet for way too long instead of screaming. A vBIOS mod is nice, but it should not be necessary for a 880M to function normally. The fact that it still doesn't is more than ample evidence that NVIDIA screwed something up in a big way. The time for being nice and patient about this is over now. Even if you don't have 880M, please chime in and help create a stir about this. NVIDIA needs to fix this, right now. Unless people start making a big stink about it they won't have any reason to. Tell them how much money you spent expecting something awesome and how disappointed you are in their failure. Then go start an RMA process. Even if the OEM that sold you a new machine with a defective product installed in it refuses to honor the RMA, if enough disgruntled customers start asking for their money back NVIDIA will hear from the vendors about it and it won't be a nice "Geforce Experience" for them. Move it guys... please.
Nvidia crippling the gtx 880ms with there new drivers (look for a nvidia response.
In case NVIDIA decides to delete my comment, here is what I posted:
Added my 2 cents.
There needs to be a benefit to a newer flagship model. There needs to be a good reason to upgrade. As it stands, an overclocked 780M SLI setup beats an 880M SLI setup. How is that even a thing?

Eh... the dremel got away from me a couple of times. It doesn't look fantastic, but it is functional.
Sent with love from my Galaxy S4
It's one thing to have the underside have some over-dremel, it's a whole other thing to cut a 3" hole in the bottom and superglue a 5V fan to the underside.

It's a work in process. Right now I don't have pics and the foam is gone because it was just held in place temporarily by tape. After taking the bottom cover off a few times it was loose and getting into the GPU fan. Currently I have a rather large open hole where the "grill" once was. I have some black wire mesh I want put over the hole to keep stuff out of it. Right now I am working out of town so it will be a while before I get to it. When I do I will make a separate thread.
Yeah man that'd be awesome to see. Custom cooling mods (that look good) are a step forward in overclocking/managing temps, so I'm always interested to see custom solutions that don't look like garbage.

After cutting out the GPU air inlet and adding the foam to isolate the air in the laptop case from the outside air...
I'd actually really love to see some pics of your mod.

My temps were still in spec... But conditions happened that caused me to have to open up the machine and pull a video card which meant a repaste. Pulling the video card revealed a pool of IC Diamond underneath the heatsink. It was only a few degrees drop but it was still a drop.
Yeah that's no bueno.
As for the slave running cooler than the master, that's correct but not usually that large of a disparity. Either way, one maxes at 89C now and the other at 87C and that's with the unlocked vbios - spec is anything under a sustained 90C according to Sager and when the GPU hits 89C, the fan hits almost max and it will stay around 82C-83C after that. Watch Dogs is the only game that pushes it up anyway, my other games I limit to 60 FPS with nVidia Inspector and see temps in the 70s.
So that unlocked vbios is working out for you? I'm still on the fence about flashing the GPUs of a brand new $3500 system.

Prepare to redo it yourself. I, too, had them apply IC Diamond to my system and my temps were high. I repasted and they're 2-3C lower on idle and 4-8C lower on load (one of my 880Ms is about 6C hotter than the other one no matter what I do, it appears to be a design flaw in the cooling system of the P377SM-A).
From what I understand from their correspondence, my Sager will undergo "24-72 hours" of benchmarking and stress testing before it is shipped, to ensure it operates within spec. I do believe them about this; they wrote a short essay about it. Also, I think the slave GPU is supposed to run cooler than the master.
I was using MX-4 on my GPUs and I don't think that there is enough pressure on the heatsinks to use such a thin paste, my temps hit the max of 92C and the GPUs throttled and I applied it six times.IC Diamond is not the easiest thing to apply to a CPU though... I messed that up a few times and I *still* have one core that's hotter than the other three after doing a small line across the entire middle of the die on the last application but its only a 1-2C difference from the other cores and still is a 3-4C drop from the stock paste job.
Thankfully I'm also experienced in applying thermal paste, so if it comes down to it, I can do it. Appreciate the heads up, and I hope your case was a one-off =/

Waiting on mine to arrive. reading your post makes me even more excited about it, but I do hope the lid flex isn't as bad as you describe. I'm hoping it's more of a subjective thing, besides the fact that pressing on the back causes screen ripple.

I use a low-profile Targus backpack. I like the comfort of a backpack, without anything too flashy. Ideally, no one would even know I have laptop inside.

Just bought a Sager NP9377
i7-4910MQ
GTX 880M SLI
500 GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD
1 TB 7200RPM Secondary HD
Windows 8.1
Bought the dual channel Kingston 2x8 modules, but it's on backorder at XoticPC until 6/17, so it's just standard 1600MHz DDR3L for now.

Diablo 3 has really improved since May 2012. It's a major reason why I'm buying a new gaming laptop, so I can enjoy FPS higher than 10 in four-man fights.

dab superglue to the end of a broken-off toothpick and hold it steady. let set (you should be able to stand the toothpick on end, free air like), then slowly twist.
Be extremely careful not to put too much superglue! Cannot stress this enough.

I bought the IC Diamond upgrade from XoticPC. I hope it helps my temps.
