  1. Well I'm training to be an electrician, so I like the idea of building my own
  2. I'll tell you something, my NP9377 arrives on Wednesday, and it'll be a sketchy first few hours running benchmarks and seeing what kind of performance I get. I'm crossing my fingers that my 880M's are in good shape and perform at least how they should at stock levels. In the future, I'll probably consider making a custom PSU and unlocking the vbios. If throttling is rampant, I may have to get on this sooner rather than later.
  3. I was reading HTWingnut's review of the Sager 9377, and his charts showed only the overclocked 780M SLI setup beating the 880M SLI config. I know a lot of users are having issues, but I'm running on the assumption that a stock 880M SLI setup will beat a stock 780M SLI setup. Notebookcheck also reinforces this notion. I have no doubt in the users that have been posting about dismal stock performance, but all things being equal, stock 780M SLI gets beat by stock 880M SLI.
  4. Added my 2 cents. There needs to be a benefit to a newer flagship model. There needs to be a good reason to upgrade. As it stands, an overclocked 780M SLI setup beats an 880M SLI setup. How is that even a thing?
  5. It's one thing to have the underside have some over-dremel, it's a whole other thing to cut a 3" hole in the bottom and superglue a 5V fan to the underside.
  6. Yeah man that'd be awesome to see. Custom cooling mods (that look good) are a step forward in overclocking/managing temps, so I'm always interested to see custom solutions that don't look like garbage.

Yeah that's no bueno. So that unlocked vbios is working out for you? I'm still on the fence about flashing the GPUs of a brand new $3500 system.

From what I understand from their correspondence, my Sager will undergo "24-72 hours" of benchmarking and stress testing before it is shipped, to ensure it operates within spec. I do believe them about this; they wrote a short essay about it. Also, I think the slave GPU is supposed to run cooler than the master. Thankfully I'm also experienced in applying thermal paste, so if it comes down to it, I can do it. Appreciate the heads up, and I hope your case was a one-off =/
  9. Waiting on mine to arrive. reading your post makes me even more excited about it, but I do hope the lid flex isn't as bad as you describe. I'm hoping it's more of a subjective thing, besides the fact that pressing on the back causes screen ripple.
  10. I use a low-profile Targus backpack. I like the comfort of a backpack, without anything too flashy. Ideally, no one would even know I have laptop inside.
  11. Just bought a Sager NP9377 i7-4910MQ GTX 880M SLI 500 GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD 1 TB 7200RPM Secondary HD Windows 8.1 Bought the dual channel Kingston 2x8 modules, but it's on backorder at XoticPC until 6/17, so it's just standard 1600MHz DDR3L for now.
  12. Diablo 3 has really improved since May 2012. It's a major reason why I'm buying a new gaming laptop, so I can enjoy FPS higher than 10 in four-man fights.
  13. dab superglue to the end of a broken-off toothpick and hold it steady. let set (you should be able to stand the toothpick on end, free air like), then slowly twist. Be extremely careful not to put too much superglue! Cannot stress this enough.

I bought the IC Diamond upgrade from XoticPC. I hope it helps my temps.
