Review with XPS 15:
Interesting to see that it is still not just plug and play. -
Are you using an external monitor?
-
Does your MB have a dGPU? Optimus didn't work in Windows 7, right?
-
Ok, I asked because I was limited to 60fps when using the internal display of my MacBook in the past.
-
Is that value close to the refresh rate of your display? Like 49-50Hz?

Li-Heat makes very good riser!

The Razer Core starts to ship to the first people today. Can't wait to see the first reviews.

1280 x 1024? Maybe a GTX960 or 970?
-
The CPU is just fine!
It's only that TB1 will limit you a bit, but not that much to worry.
-
Yeah that is common. Try and disable the MacBooks screen when using the eGPU: https://github.com/Eun/DisableMonitor

Sorry, no idea how/if Optimus is working on Macs with a dGPU.
-
Ok, interessting. Thanks. Never seen such a board from ASUS.
-
You would have to disable the GT 750m and let the display beeing powered by the Intel GPU.
-
Wow ok... would you mind taking some pictures?
-
The article is about a PCIe card for PCIe to give them TB ports.
-
Can you link the article? I have never seen such a board.
-
Yeah, it should work, in Windows!

Yeah, it should work, in Windows!

Using the internal monitor = optimus
Using a TB display on the TB port = optimus
Both will result in lower performance!

I was looking for those cables in europe as well... only found them in the US too. I ordered them from the US, but now I already made some adapter for people and simply saw off a bit from a regular PCIe plug. Used a "Dremel" for that.

Great benchmarks!
I guess you are using an external monitor?
A shorter card and a Dell DA-2 could make the eGPU much smaller.

Than it is just limited to your budget
Gigabyte just announced a Thunderbolt3 eGPU adapter, GP-T3GFx

Seems like Gigabyte licenced the Silverstone eGPU that was shown some time ago. Looks very familiar
