Yes you can use a desktop PC PSU. Only use one PSU for the AKiTiO and the GPU in total. You only need to add the paperclip trick to the PSU to make it start and after that you can use the switch on the backside of the PC PSU to turn it on.

Wow, I didn't dare to try to fit my Hybrid into the Raven RVZ01, because it was way too tight. That tubes sleeves look bad

But good job making everything fit into that small case.

I could help you with that cable, just have to order the parts, solder and mail it.

They are not as pretty as the ones from eBay (because I have limited tools and limited access to the parts), but they work.

Your Afterburner is not giving you all the options. In general you should also be able to set a power target. Yours seems to be unlocked and the GPU can boost freely. 113% of the custom power target could be a lot, since Zotac definetly set the 100% already way higher than a reference card. So with a propper 100-105% power target it should be stable.

Maybe try EVGA Precision X?!

Edit: Could be "skin" problem. Can you select a different skin of the Afterburner tool?

@Alarming0 Sure, or you keep it simple and just make it yourself. Get a 6-Pin to 2x6-Pin PCIe adapter and a barrel plug with screw terminals. Cut off one 6-Pin and stick the wires into the barrel plug. Or get a 8-Pin to 2x6-Pin and do the same, but connect the remote cable to the ground of the plug.

Hmmmmmm... might be the PSU. Maybe it gets too hot or your GPU has high peak loads.

What is the GPU you are using? Gigabyte?

If you monitor your GPU power in Afterburner, how high does it get? Try and lowering the power limit to 90%.

HMDI can cause problems. Can you try another connection?

The cable is great. If you can get it from the seller directly, you should go for it.

Just try and get the cable with 2x6-Pin, just like the one in eBay, so you could use the adapter for a possible future upgrade.

You know the cable is only to be used with a Dell DA-2 220W, right?!

Just install the latest driver. Should work directly.

With an external monitor you could test if the eGPU works at all...

Also, the sonnet power supply is only Universal 300W, 115-230V AC, 50-60 Hz...and I think my Titan Card requires 600W. But, the Geforce light turns on when I plug in the thunderbolt to my computer...

The paperclip trick is needed to make the (e.g.) Corsair PSU start and provide power. Without the trick... it is useless!

A Titan will need less than 300W, I would guess 250W is it's limit. 600W are just the specs for a whole PC and some "space" for alter upgrades.

In theory a 300W PSU should work, but in general their 12V rail is too weak and they don't have the propper connections. For a Titan any 500W PSU with 1x6-Pin and 1x8-Pin PCIe plug should be fine.

@visor2580 Cards can stick out, sure. It will just look a bit "ghetto". If you want it nice there are two options:

- get a card with chips between GTX 750, 950-970 and put them into the AKiTiO box.

A 700W PSU is a bit of an overkill, but yes. It will work!

With the Intel graphics only, it is much easier. With a dGPU it seems possible but is a bit more complicated.

@mdt Did you start the Corsair with the paperclip trick? How strong is the Sonnet PSU?

The GTX 970 is fine! But you will see some CPU bottleneck in the latest games.

Nando hasn't been online for some time. I am sure there is a reason for that, because in general her is giving support here a lot.

So please be patient, even if you are desperately waiting.

I think the most important setting is the power target, which has to be lowered.

Maybe the PSU gets very warm dureing intensive use and by that is getting unefficient and results in a lower output.

Try lowering the power limit and use a FPS limiter (you will not need more than 60FPS)

The script should also cover your card (ask goalque to make sure) and you can skip the hassle with the "oldschool" guide.

Guess you want to use it on the internal display? Maybe try an external display first to check if the setup itself is working.
