  1. Can you reinstall in Windows the newest Intel Graphics driver and GeForce driver?
  2. With this guide my eGPU is working perfectly in Windows and Optimus as well! I just switch the eGPU on first, after that the MacBook and than just boot normaly.
  3. Had trouble to get my GTX 970 working in OSX as well… I just focused on Windows than. Is your eGPU working in Windows?
  4. Without the eGPU it boots? Can you start without the eGPU, press ALT, wait in the boot drive selection menu, plug in the eGPU and boot?
  5. Do you have the opportunity to test the GPU in a real PC? Maybe a friends one? Just to make sure. If nothing happens at all if you only use the riser, I would guess that no power is transfered to the riser. Maybe the riser is broken or the power connecting to it. Can you try to start without the riser but with the AKiTiO PSU?
  6. Is the SWEX turned on? Please put the AKiTiO board and the GPU of the metal cases to avoid short circuit! My eGPU starts to get alive when I turn on the PSU, have the TB cable connected and power on the MBP.
  7. 1. unplug the AKiTiO PSU! Only use the PC PSU, because the riser is providing power to the AKiTiO. 2. try this guide for Windows: http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/8106-%5Bwip%5D-2013-15-macbook-pro-iris-gtx970%4016gbps-tb2-akitio-thunder2-win8-1-osx10.html
  8. Can you boot into Windows without the eGPU and reinstall the Intel Graphics Driver (newest version!) and the Geforce driver after that. Maybe Marks guide with the modifiedEFI Partion might help you as well to get Optimus working.
  9. 2x6 pin can power the whole rig? That is interessting. It must be using much more than the official 150W.
  10. Imho it is good, just a bit too short. You can test the length you need with another cable.
  11. Oc is nowadays increasing the boost clock of the GPU and/or the classic clock speed of the memory. Windows OCs are based on software and not saved on the card. For the OC to be OS independent it has to be on the card. To achieve that you need to download the GPUs BIOS, mod it and flash it back to the GPU.
  12. The connections of that PSU are "shitty". Additionally the specs of the PSU are not really promissing: 12V @14A - that means 168W on the 12V rail…
  13. I even got 220W with a overclocked GTX 970. No board partner is sticking to the TDP.
  14. Can you be a little bit more precise what happens in Windows 8.1? Can you find the eGPU in your device manager?
  15. @nesone: Your graph is exactly the way I did it. The powered riser is connected by a 4-Pin Molex plug by the desktop PSU.
  16. @entzoe: Did some of your GTX 970 you tested had a "coil whine" or buzzing sound problem under 3D load? I am currently exchanging my 3rd card because of that matter.
  17. Just an idea… are you using the AKiTiO 50cm TB cable? I switch directly to a Apple 2m cable to place the eGPU on more comfortable area on my desk. Some people experienced problems with low quality TB cables (can't remember if it was related to the AKiTio one though.
  18. Are you using a powered riser or a molex to barrel plug to power the AKiTIO itself?
  19. 1. Please read this: http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/8170-gtx980-pcie-bandwidth-scaling-inc-x4-1-1-~tb1-x4-2-0-tb2.html 2. Which pins? The PCIe slot? The power plug pins?
  20. Sorry, I am done with testing OSX. MAybe on the weekend But after work I want to use the time in a "better" way Have been playing BF4 with a GTX 670 since release on a full HD screen and wouldn't go lower. Of course it's possible, but only with med/low settings.
