1. Hey guys, I thought I had the 1.05v BIOS for my 4gb 680m ... but it seems to be running at 1.037v at load ... is that right for the 1.05v BIOS, if it is not could some one kindly link me to a download for it :)

thanks for the link and for all the work svl7 has been doing!

    edit:

SILLY ME, I forgot where to look and just remembered it is in the second post (I have not been on this thread in a few months)

  2. Well it seems that there are more of us who need the 1.05v to get about 1000mhz, at least the company makes me feel better LOL ...

Well an extra 100mhz would be nice!!! but I am pretty happy with the performance I have ...

well if any one gets bored with their EXTREME clocking 680m esp 4gb and either wants to sell it to move on to new challenges or ;) trade it for the challange of overclocking a lesser overclocker like mine, let me know!!! I game in 3d and more power is more fps and more FUN!!!! hahaha I will be happy to get sli on this bad boy YAY~~~~

  3. @Tonrac; no I have not tried the MSI 1.00v, I'm guessing though I will get pretty much the same result. I'll try it sometime though out of interest, doesn't cost much effort. :)

@supermi; I hope it's safe, its staying on my card unless I find the MSI one helps. The nice thing with the NVIDIA cards is they keep down clocking themselves when not needed, and have the protection at 90C. Also since .987 vs 1.05 isn't a gigantic difference, should be fine.

Do let us know if that 1.00v bios helps. I would agree not likely unless you are having temp issues.

Coming from a desktop overclocking backround I would agree very little added voltage ... but these vrm's are puny and not actively cooled. I remembered reading of people with 580m's killing their cards with a very small increase in voltage, I assumed it was the power circuitry.

I might join you at 1.05v again as I am maxing out at 967mhz with 1.025v ... gosh people getting 1100mhz at less voltage is envious!!!

Luckily I have my 4 way sli 680 classifieds which will all do over 1400mhz at decent voltage to make me smile, still would like my 680m to hit 1100mhz ;)

  4. @Tonrac I don't think if that's a bug in the svl7's recent vbios that it has 1.012V 3d voltage.

If I recall correctly my stock factory vbios also has 1.012V 3d voltage ( MSI barebone ).

I think svl7 just unlocked the slider to max it out to +405MHz.

So far I am stable at 1100/2500 in games and an increment of 10MHz of that in core in 3dmark11 :D

MSI card should only be flashed with MSI vbios, is that right ?

That is a sweet oc, which bios are you using/voltage?

And have you run heaven for a while or just threw some games on?

Again sweet of I seem to max at 967mhz with 1.025v at load and a shade over 1000mhz at 1.037v at load/the bios which gives 1.050.

@bn880 it's weird that you have to use an ov 1.05v vbios to reach only 1012Mhz core, did you try the 1.000v ov msi vbios? This -0.05v will help you, run your card cooler.

If you see my post above, I have a similar oc result. Which is a shame because my m18x keeps it under or just at 60c in summer and around 50c this time of year.

Cooling is good GPU is nice but not a monster over locker it is a clevo 4gb 680m

Open to any suggestions to improve my oc. For instance have the vbios on here been updated with any tweaks within the past 2/3 months?

Do you guys see running the 1.05v bios full time as safe or dangerous?

My core temps are at most 64c in the summer , I remember that there were issues reported with overvolting the 580m and do not know if that is an issue with this card (I am assuming it has to do with the vrm temps).

And yes once the prices drop near the release of the 780m I will pick up a second 680m :-)

  5. GREAT SCORES!!!

So I got my 4gb 680m in my m18x today , got the drivers installed and it overclocked stably to 855 and I stopped at 2300mhz ram (both might go higher but afterburner does not give me any more core adjustment and I did not test higher mem yet)

I am having a problem though ... the computer is not reading my cpu as having the 3000 hd graphics which means I could not use optomis ... when I hit F7 it said this switches graphics and restart yes or no but when I hit yes it would restart and no change ... BIOS would not read the integrated graphics at all ... this started the moment I booted into windows with the 680m installed ... in fairness I also changed my cpu at the same time to a 2920xm OEM , the cpu was testing stable even at a fair overclock today so it is not a broken cpu or at least the cpu part is not LOL

Are you guys able to enguage Optimus? If yes WHAT the heck is up with mine?

I also wanted to change to an ssd today so I decided to reinstall windows to see if that cleared things up and it did not ... it was the same .. and after reinstalling the drivers and alienware programs hitting F7 does NOTHING at all and some of my other quick keys like mute are not working at all and volume up makes the volume go down and volume down makes it go up while othe quick keys seem to do what they are supposed to like wifi and F3 mute does not work either (but the key F3 without using fn does work)

I am not sure if these are separate issues so I am planning to reinstall the original gpu then after that the original cpu non XM and see if it is either of those and then do a windows reinstall and see if I can get the keys straightened out ... this 680m dream is feeling like a mild nightmare ... and I want it to be fun again ;) so any and all suggestions or ideas!?!

and if there is a better thread for me to post this just let me know and I will do so :)

  6. hey thanats007 I am new here so I could not see your attatchments ... did you make sure you put the AA and AF at max? along with max tesselation? Just checking , if so and you are stable WOWZERS that is a GREAT clocking card !!!

Is this your overclock with the same BIOS linked to in this thread or with an experimental BIOS that has voltage adjustment? Cause my fully stable plus 240 which gives me about 64C in temps is FAR from your plus 360!!! I mean I am very happy with my boost LOL but not as much as I was before I saw your AMAZING OC LOL

When I go to plus 250 or 260 I eventually get a driver crash and a black screen that recovers to the desktop ... does anyone else here have an OC they can report on? as I am curious whether thanats007 has an exeptional chip or I have a very not exceptional chip LOL

    cheers

  7. Well with max OC i can run its possible for me to play TSW in ultra settings + full HD on external monitor. My fps are about 25-30 which is awesome for this demanding game. Without the mods highest for me possible OC i had to run it in mid settings + full HD with nearly the same fps 30fps+). I was playing for max 2 hours per session. Only the CPU temps and the PCH temps were relatively high then (83 C CPU highest core / 78 C PCH temps). GPU never went higher than 64 C. Its only repasted with MX-4 not liquid metal yet.

Sorry but i dont use heaven or crysis 2. But TSW should work the same way i dont know a more demanding game - bf3 is very low compared to TSW.

And yes this unlocked bios rocks :)

Wow if you are stable at plus 360 or so AMAZING, I seem to top out in FULL stability at about plus 240 ... I do not know much about that game but if you are maxing it on this card and on an external monitor it is not that demanding especially compared to heaven and bf3 and crysis 2 with hd pack ....

I also know that people who are testing desktop 680's are stable in 3dmark 11 quite a bit faster than they are in heaven ... so I would recommend downloading the heaven 3.0 benchmark and looping it for an hour or so as it will help show if you are really stable and some reports is crysis 2 shows instability even moreso (but I have not tested that yet) :)

Of course if that is your main game and you are stable in it , :)

Congrats on that GREAT GPU in there!!! my modest OC compared to yours is great and I can only imagine another plus 120 like you have :)

if you are getting stability in

  8. This was the highest OC i could run stable on my system and just achieved a new category for my config! CHEERS M8!

    NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,Alienware M14xR2 score: P13698 3DMarks

At 360+ clock OC it begins to become unstable. Maybe my incoming heatsink mods + liquid metal repaste im planning will provide max OC capabilitys. :)

What speeds are you stable at in Heaven 3.0 fully maxed?

I had a driver crash at 280mhz ... seem fine at 250mhz on the core and will see if 260 is stable ... GPU temps are in the low 60's :)

and THIS modded BIOS ROCKS , SOOOO much more performance!!!! :) little temperature change LOVE IT!

    - - - Updated - - -

I am mostly interested in what the unlocked OC can do for gaming :) ... so for me looping heaven for an hour or so is telling of the stability and I would welcome any one else's experience with overclocking stability in heaven or crysis 2 :)
