Hey guys, first of all - many thanks to you all for putting all this information together! It's been very informative. I have, what might be a dumb question but I'm hoping to hook up a spare GPU (gtx 470) to my work laptop (Lenovo x230 - details below). Problem is I do have admin rights on the laptop but not complete access... I'm unable to do certain things like edit firewall/virus protection settings etc but I can install things. Also, the hard drive is encrypted. Will I still be able to run the DIY eGPU setup 1.x or is there a great chance I'll run into issues? Model: Lenovo x230 CPU: Intel core i5 - 3340 RAM: 8.0 GBs iGPU: Intel HD 4000 OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bits eGPU: Gigabyte GTX470 1.2GB PSU: Thermaltake 450w (some rubbish out of a case) WIll buy the PE4L ( PCIe Adapter V2.1 ) with box.
