  1. 1. Chatbox is not a thread box.

    2. svl7 just said that corrupt VBIOS will prevent the system from POSTing at all and no beeps. So that would make it NOT a corrupt VBIOS since you do get beeps and were able to POST (since you were able to flash). Instead this would be a corrupt BIOS probably.

Are you able to get into your BIOS menu? As with above, if it's a bad BIOS (which it appears to be), changing out your graphics card isn't going to help none except make your wallet thinner.

For those that don't know (if it's what I think it is): NoVA = Northern Virginia. I'm sure there is some up there. As one that actually works in a local repair shop, I'm pretty certain they don't heavily advertise nor have flashy signs. It's just too expensive to do so. Look in the local phone book or on craigslist. Or the smaller yellowpage-type book (akin to Thrifty Nickel - not sure if this is popular elsewhere).

    ---

Essentially, most evidence points toward your BIOS being corrupt. The link you provided earlier is general beep codes. But as svl7 said, a bad VBIOS would give you no beep codes.

Cannot get to bios or boot menu. Flashing scroll and caps light. Did phoenix crisis then flashing scroll and caps light appear assuming its another bad bios flash I am not able to get into phoenix crisis mode anymore

  2. Vbios corruption results in no beeps at all in the M15x. Also when the vbios is corrupt there's no POST, ergo no vbios flashing.

Well..... If you had the chance to read the ahoutbox I clearly stated after entering phoenix and I guess it flashed it left me with 1) bricked bios with 1 long beep 2 short beep which is video failure and 2) bad video card

Why the hell would you want to replace the GPU if you told me the BIOS is bricked?

Now idk if its bricked.or not @svl7 @King of Interns whats the max watt limit on m15x cuz id like to put a super good graphics card thats beats the 675mx

1 long beep 2 short beeps sounds like a vbios error. Try flashing the vbios to another rom file. You can find it on google. Just flash it to the very exact vbios version.

If it doesn't fix it, then maybe it's not the vbios but to make sure you can flash it to another vbios that's compatible with you laptop.

If it still doesn't work, you might want to send your laptop to a bios recovery service in your area (or see it as an excuse to upgrade your card :D)

Idk bro no local repair shops in nova so tell me how do I flash this vbios (no post) @Aldo

  3. Only the hack Chung-Gun/Ultramon methods given on the first post that allow *windowed* apps to be dragged over to the internal LCD. There you'd not be able to drag full-screen apps over. You'd also miss out on Optimus' x1 pci-e compression so would see greatly diminished DX9 performance with a NVidia card. That could only be corrected on your box if it's x2 capable where you'd combine mPCIe+EC or mPCIe+mPCIe ports to double bandwidth.

Overall though if I had your machine I'd offload it for a better eGPU candidate as mentioned in my last reply. Eg: A 15" HP Probook 4530s can be had for little money on ebay, is a Sandy Bridge system with an iGPU and a Gen2 expresscard slot, can be upgraded to a i7-quad and can have a 1080P LCD panel retrofitted. A 4530s gives excellent eGPU performance. I believe you'd find your m15x eGPU performance to be unacceptable compared to the GTX460M dGPU even.

It has an igpu just found out sir. also 2 mpcie and 1 mxm slot

  4. X230, X230i & X230T expresscard adressing (eGPU) - Lenovo Community . If still get error 12 or error 43 then http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/2123-diy-egpu-setup-1-x.html#post27337 .

Not possible in the traditional Nvidia Optimus way as the i7-720QM/i7-740QM never had an iGPU. Suggest you investigate if a downgrade to a i5/i7 dual-core engages the iGPU on those. If not, then suggest offload the m15x for a faster Gen2 capable system with an iGPU. Good budget options being a 12" HP 2560P/2570P, 14" -HP 4430s-Lenovo E420/T420-Dell 3450/E6420 or 15" HP 4530s-Lenovo E520/T520-Dell-3550/3560/E6520/E6530/E6540. See full list at http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/4109-egpu-candidate-system-list-%5Bthin-light%5D.html#post57159

VBIOS isn't being recognised. Try reflashing the BIOS with a copy from Video Bios Collection | techPowerUp .

so no way i can use an egpu on m15x while it plays on internal lcd ( my computer has nvidia 460m )

  5. it's strange. it should works fine, are You sure that CPU is not broken? when You swap CPU back does it work on i5?

You don't have ExpressCard or Thunderbolt but You have mPCI-e so it is possible.

Excuse me sir the m15x has an expresscard slot :D. But i have an i7 720qm or 740qm. Let me know if it would work and also play it on internal lcd

Thank Bjorm I have a Sony Vaio VPCZ217GH i7 2620M intel HD3000 8Gb. This is a model of 2012. Thank also I have found some additional information in this post :)

Sir, You can also get it to work on internal lcd if you get a kepler/fermi compatible card such as the 660/660ti and 550ti. Cheers!

  6. 1. neither have an expresscard slot. You need to ensure that both have an accessible mPCIe slot.

    2. you'll need a PE4L-PMxxxA 2.1b adapter. They provide a Gen2 link when using the mPCIe slot. Request they provide 15s PCI Reset Delay switch option. Currently it's only 0/500ms/6.9s. You'll need the 15s for the DV6-7000.

    3. For internal LCD mode to work along with x1 pci-e compression when using a NVidia Fermi/Keplar card, an active primary Intel iGPU must be present AND your system's NVidia dGPU must be disabled. Check for the former in Device Manager. Check the latter in your BIOS. If no facility to disable the dGPU exists in the BIOS exists then use Setup 1.x to do it. Recommend a GTX560Ti or GTX660+ card. GTX650 cards are inconsistent with their pci-e config space usage. There are quite a few that require large 256MB pci-e config space windows which can add additional complexity to getting them running with 4GB or more of system RAM.

Lastly, if you go ahead with the eGPU implementation then please report your results so we can add you to the Implementation table as neither the Y580 or DV6-7000 are currently represented. Thanks.

Yea i will get the HP dv6 and i will document pics on what i did and how i did it. I am currently selling this laptop because it sucks! well kinda. anyway Cheers! I will be back soon!

  7. Anyway i have an acer v5-551-8401 i have a radeon 7600g (Mobile) And it has 6gb of ram. THe gpu has 512mb of memory. It has a quad core processor (AMD 4555M) 1.6ghz-2.5(Turbo boost) and well i want to have an e gpu i need to know what gpu will be suitable for me without bottlenecking my gpu/cpu ( I need some low cost ones too) Cause i got this pc in november 2012 and i dont want to upgrade just for gpu sake so yea.
