I still have this issue too. It's pretty annoying.
did you guys update your bluetooth driver ?
-
You still need to get the new vbios to fix the sli. just remember their is 2 diffrent card 755 and 750
-
Feeling a bit noobish for this, but can i check my BIOS version from within Windows?
Yes and no, hwinfo64 can, but it's easy to read the wrong place, easiest is in the bios.
-
First off I'd like to clarify what you're trying to achieve- Are you wanting to add a singular 8gb stick to get to 16gb? If so you're out of luck. Your current config is 2X4gb, so replacing one would just get you a mismatched 12gb. I agree with the recommendation of Crucial memory. Their memory and SSDs have worked extremely well for me in the various systems that I've put them into. Samsung is also a reputable brand, but if you can go with Crucial I'd do it.
On the other two y510p i had it was single stick of 8 gb. (Scandinavian countries)

Yeah, Turning off USB boot also fixed it for me.
If you want to fix sleep, turn off Bluetooth with FN + F5.
Well that does turn of the wifi as well
-
No boot disable usb boot in the bios.
no sleep upgrade bluetooth and wireless drivers. Intel® Driver Update Utility
External: are you sure you have configured your boot device according to uefi ? gpt mbr and most important no ntfs format. (rufus usb is highly advisble)

So many pages lol. A few questions:
1. Can anyone point me to downgrading to 2.07 from 3.05?
2. If you have SLI, does downgrading and then modding still allow SLI to work?
Thank you!
1 it's posted in one of the previous pages or in the topic svl7 make a mod for 3.05 i think it was. http://forum.techinferno.com/attachments/lenovo-ibm/10029d1387540570-y510p-y410p_v207_%5Bstock%5D.zip
2. Yes 2.07 work perfectly fine with sli as long as you flashed the ultrabay with lenovos new vbios.

graphics will not be benefit from upgrading 8g to 16g since graphic card has its own memory, for gt 750m or gt 755m,it's 2g.
if you are professional in design or has a extreme need in gaming, then you need 16g ram
8g is big enough for most games.
btw,you can buy a 8g 1600mhz samsung 1.28v ram chip seperately,roughly 70 bucks
Depends if it's a single block of 8 gb then you do get a littlebit out of running dual channel.

if you grab a 7260bgn,and you are already on bios v3.05,you don't need to break whitelist, since it is added to the whitelist.(some models of y510p came up with 7260bgn)
but if you wanna grab a 7260ac, you need to downgrade to 2.07 and then break whitelist
Are you sure about this, because as far as i know it needs to be a fru version of the card.
-
Don't upgrade 3.05 is not writeable so svl7 can't make a whitelist removal for it.
-
Shouldn't this be done from a bootable USB? Running in MS-DOS? I always flash the bios in MS-DOS and not from Windows directly.
Well you decide what you want to do
But no need.

Ok I <nobr>searched</nobr> for my issue online and nobody has this problem, freshi <nobr>install</nobr> of 8.1 all <nobr>drivers</nobr> in place everything works even SLI , my only issue is my left speaker has a small crackle on it, at first I thought the speaker was blown but further inspection let me to believe that the case is not fully pressing down or there is something loose
for example max volume i hear this like blown speaker noise only from the left speaker but if I press down on the bottom of the case up (like put pressure on the bottom of that side of the speaker) it sounds perfect???? should I take the bottom casing off and retighten all screws???
I have exactly the same problem, just a little diffrent, i suddenly starten, some times it starts popping, and then i need to twitch the frame at the jack input, then it stops but all my sounds through the speaker go to hell, when it happens. I have tried loosen/thighten bolts etc but didn't help i just do not have the time for an rma right now.

I like your explantion but it wont work for me. This is what is happening as i run backup.bat file from the archive. Please help me, I am trying to upgrade the wifi card. Thanks very much.

you are running fpt from system32 and i can see it's in a folder called bios if you put that bios folder in on the c: drive the command for getting to that folder would start with
CD C:\bios\ (enter)
and then run the script.

Is it difficult to unlock the BIOS by doing this? I've never touched the BIOS on my laptop before but the wifi card needs to go so i recently bought a 7260 and was just wondering how difficult it is to do.
If you have one of the supported versions it's fairly easy
-
Like, without flashing the bios, just install driver and it should work?
EDIT
nvm im retarded, installing newest driver, not lenovo one, and then running the lenovo flashing tool worked
Super that was what i said the newest nvidia driver, Because a lot of people have done the same as you , Happy to help

Hi there, I have a quick question, does the SLI method work for the 755 as well? Now I flashed the bios to change the wireless card, but due to Win8.1 my SLI is broken, and the official lenovo patch wont do the trick, probably because the bios version is not recognized because of this mod.
So I wonder, if I roll back the bios flash, by using the backup made before flashing, then update using lenovo tool, to enable SLI and then reflash to remove whitelist, to make my new wireless card work, will that work, or is there as of yet no whitelist removal for the new bios released by lenovo for windows 8.1, to enable sli. (sry if this was posted before, looked through the thread but couldnt find it)
Did you upgrade to the newest nvidia driver 331.65 as far as i remember.
It works on my computer

Hello guys, I just ran into the wireless card problem I own a Lenovo y510p (v1.10)... I was very happy when I found this forum, but the only problem is that it has a 5 post minimum for enabling downloading... so... this is my first post...
Do you have any idea if the files in this topic are available anywhere else ? Also can you please tell me what other tweaks can be performed after installing a modded bios ? Or what are the advantages aside from removing the white list.
Thank you in advance and I wish you all the best.
Well first of all it's not allowed to share the files, svl7 is doing a hell of a work for us, getting small things like beers, if you can't wait you can allways buy elite membership.
Well you can mod nearly all the things you would be able to do in a normal in a normal bios.
-
This is not the problem I am experiencing! Are you too thick-skulled to not even read my post? There are several of us posting on Lenovo forums, all running Windows 7 and Windows 8 who cannot get their brand new GT750M5 Ultrabay cards to not even be detected by Windows on Y510P that was sold without SLI. This is a BIOS problem, not VBIOS. This is not even to mention that yes, I flashed the Windows 8.1 update vbios to the card using a hardware flasher connected to the SPI flash chip on the ultrabay card, and it still was not detected.
Sorry for not reading the post carefully enough, but no need for that language.
Did you ask lenovo for bios update? because this might help svl7 with the problem with multiply bios versions as well.
-
We are hoping we will get a BIOS update to fix the ultrabay GPU not detecting issue. This issue affects all OS's (including Windows 7), not just Windows 8.1. If you buy a y510p or a y410p that did not originally come with SLI, then your ultrabay card will probably not be detected, and is documented on Lenovo's official forums. Lenovo staff has said they are working on it, so hopefully that means BIOS update.
Here you go ember

Cause I'm lazy and it is much easier to only mod one bios
I called the danish division, and they there not really helpfull the said i should send it in for rma so no luck here
-
How do I check what bios version I have? I want to remove the whitelist and install the intel 7260AC wireless card, but I'm not sure if my bios is one of the versions listed in the first post.
It's telling you that in the bios
-
Could someone of you guys try to contact the Lenovo support and ask for a bios update?
On the support site they say this:
Just tell them some story about your system is having a specific issue that doesn't occur on the system of your friend which is running bios 3.05 or something like this.
A bios update would be nice for most people here. I'd call them myself but I don't have any service tag or similar to feed to the telephone guys.
Because of the restart issues ? i can do i was just wondering why.
-
I planning to buy the y510p From newegg. I will do the mod after I get the laptop, and I am wondering will a Killer wireless card work? I am new to this modding stuff.
It should as long as it it's a two antenna card.
-
Maybe you should remove the bios from here and send it personally it contains your windows key.

Lenovo Y410p / Y510p - unlocked BIOS / wlan whitelist mod / vbios mod

Okay ill take this a bit fast.
you should downgrade to 2.4 or 2.7 redo the bios and flash it.
Vbios you should not use the 750 vbios.
