  1. Same way as with stock BIOS. Chapter 7-2 in the user manual:

    ftp://sftp.clevo.com.tw/USRMANUAL/P37xSM/EUM.zip

Actually it's mentioned that if you are using UEFI like I do you must first enable RAID mode in the BIOS and then re-enter the BIOS again and under advanced you will see Intel® Rapid Storage Technology for RAID Systems through which will be able to configure your RAID but unfortunately I didn't find this option "Intel® Rapid Storage Technology for RAID Systems" anywhere inside the BIOS after enabling the RAID and even restarting the BIOS for a couple of times.

So can you please tell me why is it not available in this BIOS. As I remember that I used to have this option before in the stock bios after enabling the RAID mode.

    THANKS

  2. Wouldn't there be any new bios for the p370sm3 / np9380s

Also I had a question about the bios I'm now running which is P370SM3 Prema Mod v1, I recently installed windows 8.1 and there is a problem with the windows Fast Start up (hybrid boot) feature as sometimes it works and windows starts very fast and sometimes it doesn't starts fast but just take sometime to start. I tried everything from inside the windows to solve this problem but nothing worked, so is there any option in the bios I can change which will help in solving this issue ?

  3. That isn't HOT enough tongue.png

Full FAN will kick in only with even higher temps (91c), that's how Clevo has intended it...

They also have problems to get the GTX880M 3D support working and because of that the 3D version BIOS hasn't been updated, yet...

They have a P370SM3-A on the roadmap, so they will have to get the 880 going with 3D or that model is scraped... wink.png

Once Clevo updates the P370SM3 & P570WM3 I'll also update...

That's great news and hope they will release this new bios soon, and about the fan issue actually my brother has the same laptop but he havn't installed the prema's bios and when he plays any game and the gpu's temp goes over 81c the fan start working at full speed 100% and also i remember that i used to have the same thing before flashing this bios.

So is there any way I can have my gpu's fan operates automatically at 100% when the temp gets over 81C without going back to the stock bios

  4. I flashed this bios P370SM3_32_31_PM1 for my p370sm3 from 5 months ago and it's working like a charm, but my only problem is that when I'm playing heavy games like crysis 3 and watch dogs and my gpu's temperature kicks over (80c - 85c) the full speed fan doesn't kick in automatically as I have to press FN+1 inorder to get it to work at 100% speed and drop my temp below 80c. So is there any option in the bios which makes me able to control the fan speed to get to work at 100% after my gpu's temperature hits 80c +

Also when will P370SM3 v2 bios be released as I'm waiting anxiously for it.

    thanks

  5. Hey Guys.

I updated to the latest nvidia 331.xx drivers and was getting great framerates then the games would crash and i would have to reboot. So i rolled back to the default cd driver and updated to the 331.xx before this last driver and now i have microstuter on some of the games like tomb raider and splinter cell with SLI enabled even with the sv7 flash and the games will not go above 26fps :27_003:. UGH. Any ideas?

I am experiencing exactly the same issue with the new nvidia driver 331.65 as most of the games crashes when I am playing, yes and with the previous driver 331.58 I also used to have micro stuttering during the games which comes and goes but there wasn't any problem with the fps.

So is anyone else experiencing the same issue.

  7. still installing stuff, the stock wattage is 110 per gpu while it looks like svl7's is 130 so we will see

edit: well I just installed Alice: Madness Returns and Skyrim again, downloaded the new drivers and tried the 311.xx, 327.xx and the 331.xx and the flickering is still there.

nothing changed, other then my GPU 1 temp is a little higher then it was before I sent my computer to SAGER.

I'm going to edit the stock bios and see what I get from it with the new patch, I really dont feel like downgrading and upgrading over and over again.

    brb in a few.

editx2: well tried the gpu boost off, issue is still there. nothing changed. little bit more choppier but that's about it. flickering and flashing is still there. nothing changed.

i was going to add videos but they are EXACTLY the same as the video listed in the first post. i feel like it would be a waste of bandwidth to put up the same exact video.

now im going to put svl7's in and see what we get.

EDITx3: AND THE FINAL VERDICT! DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!!!

svl7's vbios is officially the shit and i bestow my first born son to him.

Here is a video of Skyrim (looking at the night sky, where it glitches really bad normally) at the temps I would normally get glitching.

On top of fixing the flickering/scanlines it also reduces choppyness that originally came with the stock vbios.

turning my body really fast no longer causes microstuttering on very mi'nute observations.

its smooth as butter on a babies butt!??? i have no idea where that came from... any way heres a video for your viewing pleasure.

thank you so much @svl7 for your awesome work and if you need anything please feel free to ask.

That's really great man. And of what you have tried out it narrows up that the main problem is with the watt in the original bios which is only configured to 110w for each card and which is probably not enough power to run both cards with 120Hz enabled.

And what about sager will you contact them and tell them about the vbios solution and save them from their misery and struggling all this time for solving this issue.

  8. i ran heaven benchmark tool (one that i used before sending my computer to sager.) before the flash, was still glitching at the temps i said they would. the problem was still there. BUT after i flashed it, its gone. I still have my original vbios, that im going to do my tests on. I just want to get my computer back to where it was before i sent it out. Im going to do a format in a sec, i just ran skyrim and tryed to make ti glitch and it wouldnt do it.

after i format im going to get everything installed. im going to play with svl7's vbios for maybe a half hour, then flash back to the origianl ones and play with those. im going to try to turn off gpu boost on the stock vbios and see if that helps, and if all else fails, back to svl7's bios. everyone keep your pants on, i only had my computer back for a hour and a half. there will be more to come.

edit: FYI the vbios i sent the computer to sager with is the same that I got back. I also didn't get the computer back with the new drivers installed.

That sounds great and waiting for your further results after testing both svl7 and original vbios. And about Sager how did they test your PC with the new nvidia driver and said that it solved the problem and that's without even installing it in your system, that seems funny.

Also can you tell me the way of disabling the boost in the original vbios.

  9. For the past few days I have been reading the steps for flashing the vBios of svl7 very carefully and for a couple of times in order to not mess things up, after trying many solutions and the latest one was installing the new Nvidia driver 331.58 and which was claimed that it will solve the problem the easy way and without flashing any vBios, it made the problem even worse for me. So at last I figured out that my last resort was flashing the svl7 vBios and give it a shot as I was very desperate.

Finally I did flash the Svl7 vBios and guess what I didn't believe it at first, after running my first game which is BF3 and which used to have the most flickering problem (((The flickering issue actually disappeared))) I have even tried to alt+tab more than once and everything runs smoothly and without any flickering or scan lines issues. Afterwards I have tried a couple of other games which also used to have aggressive flickering issues like Tomb Raider, Black OPS 1 & 2, Hitman absolution, Blacklist, Battlefield 4 beta, Starcraft 2, SniperGhostWarrior2, Metro Last Light, Metro 2033, Assassin`s Creed III, Max Payne 3, Batman Arkham City and in all of these games the problems seems to have completely disappeared even after a couple of hours testing and a lot of alt+ tab.

I would like to thank svl7 for his awesome work on this vBios that without it the problem would still exist in most of the sager notebooks, as I think that sager themselves are struggling to solve this issue till now.

Special thanks also for budmarley and prema for posting this thread and helping others for solving this annoying problem which is available for many sager users.

  10. he said in his post that he switched back and forth a few times to the desktop and the game and it had no effect on the flickering coming back. From what I understood from his post is that it is working flawlessly but he will keep up in the loop.

edit: when I get mine back Ill do the benchmarks for a full 24 hours and see what happens.

When i was running the heaven benchmark i had the flickering like a mad man, so that will be the first one I do to see if it works.

I actually meant that if he could just keep doing this minimizing and maximizing thing for all of the games he is going to try now and afterward.

And Bud I hope that you will receive your laptop as soon as possible as I am also waiting for your results aswell.

  11. Sorry, I've been pretty busy today, so I haven't been able to test the cards as much as I wanted to.

I did manage to squeeze in a few benchmarks(3dmark 11 and valley), a little bit of tomb raider, company of heroes 2, Rome II (No SLI profile yet, sigh), and an hour of dota 2. All were ran in fullscreen and no flickers appeared. I occasionally switched back and forth between the game and desktop, and I still can't see any flickers. FPS were what I expected them to be (nearly identical to the new Alienware m18's benchmarks posted here), and the temps were fine, maxed at 82C and 80C.

I'll try to play more games whenever I can. But for now the vbios is working great!

Edit: Playing some dead space 3 in fullscreen right now, and again, no flickers!

Edit 2: Temps got pretty high in dead space 3, around 90 for both cards (without turbo fans. Still, I used to get these temps anyway, so I don't think it's caused by the vbios

Thanks for posting your results after flashing the vbios and hope to hear from you on more games and hope also while you are in the middle of the game to just minimize it (alt+tab) for a couple of times and then maximize it to full screen again to make 100 % sure that the problem is solved. Try also to play the game for at least more than a hour to double check if the high temperature will actually gonna affect the performance and cause the flickering problem to appear again for most of the games or not.

  12. i thought the same thing until I read how easy it is to flash a vBIOS. you can also setup a .bat command (look it up on google) to do the process for you if you brick the vBIOS and cant see the screen.

SAGER will not flash the vBIOS and the only way you are going to fix this is to do it yourself. So its really if you can live with it, then stick with the glitching or if your brave enough, flash the hell outta it. Im sure @svl7 or @Prema will walk you though what you need to do if your really nervous. Im sure they would probably even talk you though it over the phone if your really lost. Or you could call me and I can walk you though it when I do it myself.

Ok that sounds great so actually I will not contact sager for now and wait till you receive your laptop and flash the vbios yourself and try it for at least couple of hours and with different games to make sure that it's working 100% as no one has tried it yet except for 1 or 2 people and they haven't place any update for the issue if it has completely gone or no after testing it for couple of days.

And for me I am not 100% sure to be a vBios because it seems that everyone is having this flickering issue differently as some people have it more severe than others according to what is mentioned in the forums and as what sager told you as well as it seems to be increasing and getting much worse by time. As also for this user ssam_sm he said that the flickering issue has worsen for him that it even starts appearing when he is playing the games in 3D which I think it's totally unacceptable as for me I purchased this laptop mainly for the it's 3D capability and it's 120hz screen.

Also maybe this vBios could fix the problem for couple of days maybe weeks and then comes back again so lets hope for the best.

  13. Thank you for that! Hopefully soon this will no longer be a issue with computers that get sent directly to new customers.

edit: Hey @evilevil did you manage to upload the vBIOS listed in this thread? Just wondering if those videos are posted before the flash of the vBIOS or after.

Actually I haven't flash the vbios because as I said before I don't have much experience in vbios flashing and I wouldn't take the risk of bricking a $3k+ laptop and losing my warranty, so that's why I am gonna contact sager and RMA my laptop as quick as possible because I think they are the ones responsible for any errors or downfalls in any of their products and they are the ones responsible for solving these problems.

  14. I agree, I would try the ALT+TAB thing if I had my computer here with me. Until then we have to try and get the people who have the same issue as us to try it out and re-post it. I dont know when my ETA of my laptop coming back to me is. I'm hoping by the end of next week, because I want to fully test these vBIOS and play some damn games!

    ---updated---

If this isn't allowed to be posted here, please tell me or have the mods delete from the "---updated---" down.

Anyhoo, this is what I noticed that was different from the 80.04.B3.00.10 (svl7's oc edition) and the 80.04.92.00.09 (regular). I cant do the test on the 80.04.BD.00.05 (one that was shipped with our computers) because I do not have it on me at the moment.

as you can see from above there is a definite power increase, which could be what is causing the flickering in the old one. If I'm right with my hypothesis, then the vbios that is with our computers that is causing the glitching isn't producing enough power to run the cards in SLI w/ 120hz on.

I have a feeling there is a increase in power draw when 120hz is on, and its just enough to cause the cards to slow down. When the cards are cold so to say, they have a lower power draw, then it warms up and the power increases, this is where the glitching happens. By increasing the amount of power to the cards thats its allowed to draw it pulls more and fixes the problem. This is just a guess and is not educated to say the least.

What I would recommend is to get the AC-100 dual psu adapter and get a second brick and then overclock to your temps and hearts content.

Thanks for your effort in figuring that out. But if that's true how come the problem kept on increasing for me and some other people who weren't having this problem at the beginning including you and then it just appeared from nowhere. As also for me it kept on getting worse over time by which it start appearing immediately as I open the game despite the fact that it wasn't like that in the beginning by which it used to happen after 15 or 20 min in the game where the GPU starts to get hot.

  15. Flashed to the vbios made by svl7, played bf3 for 10 mins, and I haven't seen flickers at all (they usually appear as soon as I play a game in fullscreen mode).

So yes. the OC vbios seems to solve the problem completely.

So does anyone know why exactly does the slv7 OC bios solves the problem while other vBios create this problem. And what changes exactly is in the costumed slv7 vBios that helps in solving this problem.

  16. The first week I had the computer I had NO issues with the flickering and then out of nowhere it just showed up. I thought I did something to the laptop, I was like what the fu**. I didnt take the GPUS apart or touch anything under the cover. I took the cover off to take a pic of what it looked like under the lid and then closed it back up.

I had it after about a week of the flickering and I took the heat-syncs off to find a massive glob of thermal paste all over the gpu under the heat-sync, not just on the die but on the green outer side and on the mini circuits next to the GPU die. I though it probably shorted something out so I cleaned it up as best as i could with rubbing alcohol and some careful elbow grease and managed to get about 97% of the thermal paste off where it wasnt supposed to be. after about a hour or 2 of cleaning up thermal paste i carefully applied a thin layer of arctic silver and my gpu temps were about 10c cooler. but the issue was still there. that is why I RMAed it, because when I got it the thermal paste was ridiculous.

come to find out it wasnt a gpu issue but a vbios issue. needless to say i feel like a pompous a$$.

Really so does this means that IC diamond paste which the sager place on there laptops is fake or not as good as other high quality pastes,so can you tell exactly what was your average temps without and with gaming. And about the flickering issue it was also the same for me as it wasn't there from the beginning and just started to appear 5 or 6 days after I got my laptop

  17. well when I was talking to the RMA dept on the phone at sager yesterday and they said they are having a meeting that day about this issue because they currently have on their hands on 4 computers, the np9380-s that all has the same issue, and my computer will be the 5th. They said they heard that it was either power, sli bridge or the vbios but they are checking all them out. they said they dont have the vbios for the cards and i told them that i could email it to them and he told me they wernt allowed to flash bios or vbios. it has to all be done at clevo. He told me that with the computers he has seen, that you have to be looking really closely to see the issue. and that the normal eyes cant see it. I told him that he will be changing his statement when he sees my computer. I find it so much of a eye fu** that I cant even enjoy my games anymore when its flickering like it does.

honestly dude if i was you i would just flash it, you have your computer and the flash process doesnt require a rocket scientist. Just make sure on your usb drive you back up your original vbios before you flash it with the other one in case something was to happen.

Yes actually for me too it's very frustrating and annoying of how these flickering white lines always appear in games from nowhere and remain there with also some black flickering as well. I also noticed that it's increasing by time and also appear for me in more games it wasn't appearing in them before.

  18. I would like to think so, if we get more people to complain about it,they will have to fix it.

Yes you are right we need anyone who is facing this problem to contact sager and if he had purchased it from Xoticpc to contact them as well as sager and tell them about this problem. This will actually make them put this issue as a primary issue and try to solve it as soon as possible.

  19. I asked the guy if he wanted me to send the vbios and he said only clevo could load it because they don't want to be liable for a brick if it didn't work. If I manage to get it working, I'm going to physical. ly mail it to them and tell them they need to load it in their laptops with 780m sli w/ 120hz screens.

That sounds great but aren't they suppose to be having at least one or two extra units of every model so that they can try on it any new stuff before trying it on the customers units and bricking it, as I know most of the companies would do that.
