  1. Hi guys, I have noticed that there are a lot of frames tearing when I play games with the v-sync off. Is it because I didn't use the setup 1.x? Because I only disable my dGPu from my bios.
  2. My fan is a 3-wire. I did this lol: http://forum.techinferno.com/general-notebook-discussions/3437-thoughts-how-fix-insanely-hot-laptop-75c-idle-100-c-load-2.html#post59136 Works quite well, don't have to open it up for full fan speed.
  3. Maybe I need to put a switch just like you said. Thanks by the way! Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  4. Hey guys, I have a question about CPU cooling. Ok correct me if I'm wrong but for laptop, the CPU and dGPU does share the same heat sink right? So if i disabled the dGPU then the fan won't be cooling the dGPU and also the CPU right? Because when I play games, my CPU temp is burning up. I tried to manually control the fan speed with 3rd party programs but it only increase the fan speed of my eGPU. Any suggestion? Thanks.
  5. Okay thanks, so should I document my eGPU project in the implementation list? Open a new GUIDE thread?
  6. I'm fully using an external monitor. I've included a screenshot of my GPU-Z
  7. yeah I have the 1080p display but currently I am using an external display because nando said AMD will deliver a better graphic on external display instead of internal display. I will update the performance of a few games in a few days time because I'm busy working in the time being and by the way, how can I know if my graphic is running at gen1 or gen2 speed?
  8. Hey there, Fyi I am using a Lenovo Y580 with R9 280X OC Vapor as eGPU and so far everything is running well. No Setup 1.x are needed because of the UMA option in the Bios to disable the iGPU dGPU. I will update when I have tested Ultra on AC4, pretty busy working now.
  9. Look for a laptop with an Express Card slot and of course also with a powerful CPU so that if you are planning to use a high performance eGPU Graphic Card, the CPU will not cause Bottleneck effect to the Graphic Card.
  10. Hey guys, Ok so after weeks of waiting, all of my parts for eGPU have arrived which is PE4L+PM060A , Radeon R9 280X and a Gigabyte Hercules 580w. After setting up all of the parts, everything seems to be working fine and I did not need the setup 1.x because lucky me, I could disable my iGPU from the UMA switchable graphic option in my Bios. The system detects the eGPU and I can proceed to the driver installation as usual. I used external monitor as main and only one display because having the dual display with the internal display messed up the graphic card's driver. Later I will upload the pictures and maybe a setup video if I'm not too busy working. My Rig, Lenovo Y580 i7 3630QM 2.8Ghz GTX 660M 8GB RAM eGPU PE4L+PM060A AMD R9 280X Gigabyte Hercules 580W PSU
  11. Okay thanks! I was wondering because i've read the commenters on youtube said you need enough Watt as stated in the specs. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  12. Okay! Thank you so much for the information. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  13. Hello guys, sorry for asking this, but I'm not really good with these power consumption requirements, so I would like to ask, I bought a radeon R9 280X recently and it is on its way, so now I am looking forward to buy a power supply, according to the spec sheets, the GPU needs a 750W PSU, but since I'm in a tight budget, is it okay for me to use a lower PSU like 650W? 14. It's PE4L-PM060A 2.1 and yes my laptop have iGPU intel hd 4000. Thank you for the quick reply. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  15. Hey guys, okay so my PE4L have arrived, haven't tested it yet, but now I'm deciding to buy a graphic card, this is my laptop specs : Intel i7 3630QM Geforce GTX660M 8 GB ram Windows 8 Pro So, I was thinking to get either GTX 770 or AMD R9 280X, which one do you guys think is better? 16. Okay got it, I have tested and the unused mPCIE slot does not detect the wifi. Is it true 1x slot reduce the performance rather than 16x slots?
  17. I'm sorry for this stupid questions, but right now I have a few questions about the state of my PCI-e slot. It is confirmed that I have 2 slots, 1 for wifi and the other is for SSD, can the SSD slot work for eGPU? if it doesn't then I have to sacrifice my wifi PCI-e slot in order for the eGPU to work? By the way, I really appreciate for your reply Tech Inferno Fan
  18. okay, I will get the PE4L -PM060A/PM100A but what are the difference between PM060A/PM100A? and which one should i get? I dont mind using a external wifi adaptor and i already got one now. do the PE4L 1x slot makes a lot of difference with PE4H 16x slots in terms of performance?
  19. yes i do have mPCIe slots, 1 for wifi and the other is empty, is it okay if I'm getting a PE4H + PN3M? Because that is the one I can find locally now.
  20. Hello guys, I am new to this eGPU system, so I would like to create one for my Lenovo Y580. According to the research that I've done for my laptop, maybe its possible, but I would like to know if eGPU works with GTX 770? I am looking forward to buy that one.
