  1. Yes but there is no connection between the Intel iGPU and the Ultrabay GPU. As far as I know it goes like this: Ultrabay GPU > main GPU > Intel iGPU > display.

The point is there is no way to upgrade because only the soldered-on GPU can be primary. If somehow it could be disabled and everything could go through the Ultrabay, then maybe it's possible, but then Lenovo would have to come out with a 770M or 780M Ultrabay to exceed the performance of 750M SLI. We know that's never going to happen and the tiny Ultrabay fan won't even be able cool a GPU like that adequately, as it can hardly handle the heat of the 750M as it is.

I might be confusing technologies, but doesn't optimus work in a simiar way to the lucidlogix virtu setup of z68 era where the video data from the secondary card (in this case the nvidia card) gets sent through the PCI-E bus?

  2. I get an error 51 when attempting to make a backup of the bios.

"Error 51: An attempt was made to read beyond the end of flash memory"

    Any help?

Seems like one of the flash parts on your board is not recognized... I need to know it's name, else I can't help you. You could disassemble the system and check which flash chip is installed besides the one that is recognized or maybe if dumped the whole firmware I could figure it out. Try to run the flash tool with -d me.bin -me. It will most likely come up with an error though...

I was getting both problems. My fix was just to merge the original and the 'fix' fparts.txt together and it worked. I've attached my file

    'Error 104' Fix - v01 (Modified AB).zip

  3. Hi guys,

I'm having an odd experience with my 410p where my USB 3 port will drop and reconnect my USB 2 devices (I believe the USB 3 devices stay connected, but they all have their own power supply so it's hard to tell). Using the USB 2 ports on the right has no problems

It only happens for a fraction of a second, but that's enough to freak out my USB sound card, keyboard and mouse. This occurs through two separate hubs (one usb2, one hybrid 2/3), and directly connecting the devices.

I am running windows 7 x64 with the latest usb drivers from intel (as of last week), although this problem also manifested in windows 8 and 8.1

I realise what I have said is a little vague, and I'll try and narrow it down a bit further, but has anyone else experienced anything like this, or know of any solution?

    Cheers

  4. This is impossible because everything rendered by the Ultrabay GPU still has to go through the internal GPU before it reaches the display. The Ultrabay is not able to output directly to the display. It is only a slave card to the main GPU.

But doesn't it all get fed through the intel card anyway? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that what Kwaz said is still possible (although I'll need to do more research first).
